What an offseason. Absolutely wild. Between the draft, FA and the boosts we have had a great run recently. I sat down with some of the best to discuss. This is must REED off the press. Thank you for joining DeeperThanSims hf autumn harold
1. Cy first- advice for Rex
DBW- I think Rex should be able get a low playoff seed as is. Earl Manigault and Mel Daniels with McCoy leading the way is a solid 3. He got a bit unlucky with Lee retiring as that was one of his big expiring, then he lost Johns. Hopefully he builds up large expirings throughout the season by using vet mins/LLE/MLE because he really needs salary for trades.
HF- Get fucking fillers my guy. You gotta trade for some expiring second rounders with birds next time in case your guys expire. West is weak. Get a point guard and cruise to CY
Habes- Send a million 2 year min, MLE, LLE, etc. offers for rebounders and use your 100 potential boost as a trade chip to get a big. Rex has all the scoring he needs but badly needs a second and third big. Gotta be aggressive about getting them.
2. Advice for Outlawz
DBW- Worried about Outlawz, he's lotto bound with this current roster and Spence had to do his bids. He has too many useless players taking up roster spots and he needs to sign expirings for deals. Thankfully he has many bird year guys in FA. He can probably tax someone trying to rebuild for George McGinnis or George Gervin and be safe.
HF- Answer PMS bro
Habes- I think he needs to trade Gervin and McGinnis for vets. Just not enough on the roster to compete, and those guys aren’t near their primes. He and I have been talking trade but I’m not sure it’s gonna get done and don’t know how many other deals are out there. I’m guessing he’s going to wait too long to move Gervin and make it closer than it needs to be.
3. Do you have any theories on the 100 pot and how it will work
DBW- I know 100 potential doesn't necessarily guarantee a rookie being a superstar coming in, but now we are talking players who have gone through 4 or maybe even more TCs and setting their potential back to 100? Who knows how this will look. It's exciting and scary at the same time.
HF- I honestly think a lot of people are gonna be disappointed, while we will see a few players blow up. Mostly disappointment though.
Habes- For guys 25 and under, I think it’s pretty straightforward—if you use it well, you’ll get a star. If you camp a guy with a ton of deficiencies, you’re probably going to get a role player. I’m more curious to see how it affects older guys. We’ve seen guys like Steve Jones and Connie Hawkins come in with potential in their late 20s and have nice TCs, but that’s not a large sample size and they both got +25, so it’s hard to know how much they improved in TC.
4. Where are you using your reward
DBW- I'm not sure yet because I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my roster. Initially my plan was to go with +15 for Truck before TC and for Ray Lewis after TC. Another option is to 100 pot Bingo Smith to see if I can get him to that super elite level.
HF- I’m not, habes is. Greg got it though and I hope he develops.

5. Who’s the fit of best player you know getting a reward and how do you think it works out
DBW- This has been mentioned on the boards a lot and I agree with everyone... the best fit for 100 potential is definitely a player that has already gone through a bunch of TCs and is still youngish. I think the +15 to 2 players is probably better if you want to use it on a rookie. It would be crappy to set a rookie that came in with 80 potential to 100 over just taking the 95 potential and having another +15 to work with.
HF- I think using it on a guy like Ray Lewis after TC is a no brainer and can turn him into a. Superstar quick.
Habes- I thought Ollie was a great candidate. Came in with elite inside scoring, jumpshot and handling, and C+ rebounding. Hoping for a DeRozan outcome. Love Elmore Smith as a +100 candidate. Rudy too. Either Pacers PG. McGinnis is not simming well but could be a stud with the boost. There are also lots of great rookie contract guys who were made to be very good role players and could now be stars.
6. How many games do you think you will win?
DBW- We are 2 packs of ass. I'd put us at 30 wins right now. I am sending out offers to fix this though.
HF- I need a 60 win title so 60.
Habes-I’m being reckless in trade talks right now so it could be low 40s. I sent a few Clyde offers that would be awful in the short term. If I keep him, 48 or so.
7. Spencer’s reward for 1mil was sweet. Do you think any areas of the league needs more rewards or incentive?
DBW- I'd like a way to get more RCs. I have ~10 ACs banked up and just a couple of RCs, which is why I am doing this roundtable! Something other than posting for RCs would be great. What about an RC for making the playoffs for 1 idea.
HF- Yeah give me an rc for 50 wins and I’ll be happy.
Habes- Yeah, definitely love the idea of rewards for success. Things like RCs for winning 50 or making the finals, ACs for five consecutive playoff appearances, etc. would be fun. We get rewards for spamming the counting thread so rewards for success would be a fun addition that wouldn’t exactly cheapen RCs/ACs or have a big effect on inflation.
