He stopped responding. I would've waited but I can't hope for the best either.

Grant+Rose for 2 firsts isn't horrible tho. The AI deal was crippling and it's going to be really really difficult for him to add talent.
I don't really count Knicks '05 to be a 1st. I know technically it is a 1st but it's not really a 1st.

Bucks win the deal hands down. Just saying that the only way for Denver to really add talent around AI was to move those firsts for marginal players as that's all he'd really get. The AI deal was horrible and now he's in a deep hole.

Still hate this conditional trading of picks further out than you're supposed to be allowed to trade.

It's garbage. Might as well make it 4 years out for pick trading. I think it's silly to add conditions meant to result in an additional pick traded past the rules. I shouldn't be able to trade my 07 and be like oh if it's non lotto I give my 08 too. It's just circumventing rules. Should just petition Spencer to change the rule, dunno why he just allows blatant circumvention. It's not a huge deal to me or anything, I just don't like it on principle.

It's not a huge deal to me or anything, I just don't like it on principle. sure, but the same loophole exists for standard lotto protections that no one complains about. e.g., i deal dal 07 top 7 protected. if it's top 7, you get dal 08 instead. i could easily (a) make that top 28 protected and (b) deal my 08, 09, 10 there too. i'd be fine with a rule stating that protections that potentially result in picks dealt beyond the three-year window have to be 1:1 and disjunctive

We can split hairs on it being a pick outside the window, but that isn't the true point. There's no doubt the intention of these "protections" is to provide an additional pick that you otherwise wouldn't be able to trade rather than a substitute pick for having to return a lotto or whatever pick.

I think NBA allows 7 years out? Maybe 8. True but NBA also makes sure you have at least one pick once every two years (though Nets sadly found a way to circumvent that setting them back a bit lol)
