My first Christmas in Nashville I was heading back up North on Christmas Eve and we boarded the plane only to deplane because the cockpit was "missing a knob." The only place to get that knob was in Atlanta which was dealing with some freak tornadoes and the airport was closed. The flight consistently was getting delayed until you saw something akin to Jingle All The Way in the airport. Mad dashes to phones with people trying to get on other flights to get home for the holidays.
I didn't have any status with Delta at the time so I ended up cancelling my flight and taking Southwest to Philly and took an Amtrak back to CT. My bags never got to me. When I got back to Nashville they were waiting at the Delta baggage office with I shit you not 8 bag tags from all over the country.

From a lot of experience with this type of thing they will delay you incessantly and might inevitably cancel your flight. If you're with AA I would see if you couldn't get a flight to CLT and go to SAV from there. They should let you change at no cost. pretty sure he's already flying through here or phili, doubt AA has a direct flight to sav from NYC I think they do on Eagle. |
