Hello and welcome friends to my 2034 lotto review!
1. Indiana Pacers - Clyde Lovellette C 6'9'' 234 23 B C D+ B B A
Spencer's Notes: Elite inside and jumpshot. Elite post defender and strength. Near elite handles and quickness. Limited stocks.
Take: Clyde definitely seems like the clear number 1 overall pick in this draft. Elite in tons of categories. Seems like he is going to be a great big man similar to Sean Ellison. If he can develop his stocks like Sean (+2) the Pacers will have made the right choice.
Grade: A+
2. Milwaukee Bucks(from Nets) - Gene Conley PF 6'8'' 225 22 B- C C- B B- A
Spencer's Notes: Elite inside scorer. Good midrange. Little bit of stocks. Solid handles.
Take: From here on out is when things get interesting imo and can go any which way. Gene seems like a solid selection with the 2nd overall pick by Andy. Elite inside scoring, good jump shot, little bit of stocks and it sounds like he will be able to handle the rock. I'm not really sure what the difference in "limited stocks" compared to "little bit of stocks" is but we shall see when the season hits. He seems like a great choice for the second overall pick.
Grade: A
3. Los Angeles Lakers(from Rockets) - Monk Meineke PF 6'7'' 208 22 B+ C+ D- C B B
Spencer's notes: Elite inside and midrange. Very good handles and rebounding.
Take: LOVE THIS PICK. Between Monk and Zeke I'm torn on who I like more. We shall see when preseason/season hits but man I like this guy. If I had the 2nd overall pick I might have gone with one of Gene, Monk or Zeke. Elite inside and midrange. Good handles and rebounding. Damn mama what more can you want! Nice pick for Nanz as he begins a rebuild.
Grade: A
4. Phoenix Suns - Zeke Zawoluk PF 6'7'' 215 22 C C A- B B+ B
Spencer's notes: Jumpshot, handles, stocks, boards. Yup.
Take: Mannnnnn. Another guy I love. He will not be much of a scorer but he is going to do everything else you love to see that. His jumpshot is solid though so if he goes to the line, which he will, he should be pretty efficient there. This is the guy I wanted the whole time and Andrew snagged him. I think even though Andrew dropped from 1 to 4 he still made out well here. It will be a tough rebuild though because you're going to need some big time scorers around Zeke.
Grade: A
5. Atlanta Hawks - Walt Davis PF 6'8'' 205 21 C+ C- C- A- C+ A
Spencer's notes: Solid. Stocks are good. Mid and inside are solid. Handles are good. No 3.
Take: Is Spencer saying he is the number 3 pick here? If so, I'm not sure how much stock you can put into that. Who knows! He looks and sounds very good. Coming in with an A- defense rating is very nice. This guy will definitely get you tons of blocks and steals. How will his rebounding be? I'm not fond of a big man who can't really rebound well but maybe he can develop that part of his game. Good selection.
Grade: A-
6. Portland Trailblazers - Bill Mlkvy SF 6'4'' 190 21 B C C+ B C+ B
Spencer's notes: Solid inside and mid. Good handles. Some stocks. Good rebounder for a wing.
Take: Well, this is my pick so I gotta love it right? The one place I didn't want to be. Deciding if I should pick Ken McBride. ehhhh. Bill's notes seem very good. He has all the tools to be a very good player. Spencers comments on him seemed promising as well saying he will shoot 3's. He can rebound, get stocks, and has good handles. Well see.
Grade: B+
7. San Antonio Spurs - Ken McBride SG 6'3'' 190 23 B- C- A B C+ B
Spencer's notes: Elite passer. Elite stocks. Plus rebounder. Ok inside and mid. Handles are just okay.
Take: Gotta be honest, in the end, not really fond of a guy with elite passing at the 2. Elite stocks is very nice. He's a good rebounding. Ok inside and mid and handles being just okay isn't that enticing. His outside shooting sucks. So he's not much of a scorer, but will get you stocks and boards. Eh, building a team around him would be unique. Just not for me.
Grade: B-
8. Boston Celtics - Chuck Darling C 6'8'' 225 22 C C D+ B- B- B
Spencer's notes: Jumpshot is elite. Decent rebounding. Some stocks.
Take: Sounds like a solid big. Decent rebounding kinda sucks to hear but some stocks and having an elite jumpshot is nice. He could be a good 5th starter or 3rd big man but I think there were better picks to be had here.
Grade: C+
9. Cleveland Cavs - Eddie Miller C 6'8'' 225 21 B C+ C- B- B- A
Spencer's notes: Solid inside and jumpshot. Good rebounder. No stocks. Handles are mid.
Take: Even though Eddie has no stocks I think this will be a solid pick. Another 5th starter or 3rd big type of guy. Good rebounding and scoring. If he can handle the ball well this might be one of the steals of the lotto.
Grade: A-
10. Chicago Bulls(from lakers) - Dick (Throat) Groat PG 5'11'' 180 22 C B- B- B- C A
Spencer's notes: Jumpshot, handles and are steals all pretty good. Solid all around.
Take: Dick sounds like the best PG of the draft. Play has back-to-back picks here. So good first selection. Dick Throat the Groat seems like he can do it all even rebound well at the point. Solid first selection.
Grade: B+
11. Chicago Bulls - Bill Stauffer C 6'4'' 210 22 C C- D+ B+ B+ B
Spencer's notes: Very good rebounder, some stocks. Not much offense.
Take: Well done. Two good picks by play here. Grab the best point guard in the draft and also snag a very good big here. Another guy that won't give you much offense but will do everything else. I think he can even handle the ball. He's a 6'4'' center but height doesn't really matter. It's what's on the inside that counts! He should be a solid big in this league for many years.
Grade: A-
12. San Antonio Spurs(from Grizzlies) - Dick Surhoff SF 6'4'' 210 23 C+ C+ C+ C+ C A
Spencer's Notes: Good jumpshot. Some stocks. Handles and quickness are solid.
Take: TWO dicks ONE draft. Too bad they didn't join forces but that might be too much dick for one GM? Sorry I lost my train of thought. Anyway, nice pick lol. Dick Surhoff along with Bill and a couple other SF's all sound very similar (Not naming any names). I guess we will see which one's really do pan out. I think I like this pick better than the McBride pick. Good job Royal.
Grade: A-
13. Milwaukee Bucks - Herm Hedderick SG 6'5'' 170 22 B- C- C B C+ B
Spencer's notes: Handles, stocks, boards. Solid.
Take: I feel like this guy is just like Ken McBridge but with worse passing. When Spence keeps it short and sweet it's usually a sign IMO. Handles, stocks, boards, OH MY! Not a bad pick for the last pick of the lotto. Can this guy be much of a scorer? Is that C- really a C? I have a hard time liking these guys that can't shoot but these are the times!
Take: B
