The Knicks have one of the best point differentials in the league and nice peripherals, including positive stocks and rebounds, but I’d be shocked to see them make it out of the East. Makes me so happy to see the filthy stats Javi is hanging, especially because you just know I’ll have him in four days.
The Cavs have an underwhelming point differential, turn it over a lot, and don’t get stocks, though it seems like their BPG should be higher. Great offense, but going nowhere with Joe Dean at PG. Still, great job by Svedda building a 50-win team on the fly after setting up a rebuild this offseason. I’d probably upgrade them a bit after the Ellison deal.
The Heat are hot. Not as scary as last year because they’re worse with Bulbs than they were with Javi and Bach is dead, but they’re as likely as anyone else to come out of the East.
The Hawks are neck and neck with the Heat to take the East. Extremely well-rounded team. Rizzo’s minutes and blocks have spiked. AAF is a stud. Three great scoring options. No idea how they got Wagner so cheap, but I also kind of dumped him, and the Knicks haven’t suffered for it, so I can’t harp on it.
The Bulls get major jeers for making an offseason move on Day 99 on the heels of a 10-game win streak. I thought they'd fall off with a hole at SF, but they were proving me wrong. No reason they couldn’t have won the East. Bizarre to throw in the towel during the season.
The Nets are cool. They dominate the glass and play great defense. Haven’t paid attention to their DC at all but gotta think Herro’s offense could help them; they definitely need the shooting. Nice job by Marty though.
The Pacers are loaded. Love them. Slick-Hitch-Clyde core with good prospects in Brown, Ackerman, and Gola. Styro has the a nice shot to build a contender this offseason. Don’t rebuild!
The Bucks are set up to contend for the next 12 seasons. Thought Slick should’ve been enough for Swails, but can’t nitpick that deal too much. Biggest priority would seem to be building a frontcourt around Pettit.
The Magic seem a bit stuck. Schayes is a beast. Ramsey is very good. Reiter is a tough one. Great stocks and handles, shit rebounding, weak midrange. I’d rather cash him in than try to build with him. IDK. Just don’t see the pieces here to build a contender.
The 76ers are not going to make it. It will be close. They play the Raptors twice, so let’s put them at 35-35 right now. They don’t have any other tankers on the schedule. Don’t see it happening. Very similar to Lums’ GST CY team–elite talent at the top, but very few positive contributors.
The Hornets are coming. Never like to see a core without any bigs (please don’t waste Baylor at PF), but Pig should be able to get whatever he wants this offseason using pieces like Sessums, his two lottos, and Garmaker.
The Wizards...eh. No idea why they dealt a starting big for a role player wing. Watson is a crappy PG. Houbregs and Kaftan rebound well, but what else are they doing well? Buzz is my favorite piece on the team. Don’t love the core.
The Celtics make me sad. Break did well this time around. He’s not a great GM, but he improved a ton, and it’s a fluke that he didn’t reset. Sadder than that is the fact that some dipshit is going to inherit St. Cloud and have a fairly easy path to contending. Sorry mates.
The Pistons have the worst situation in the league. What’s the plan here beyond signing Rocha in FA? WIll always root for Chip though.
The Raptors are loading up. Two top 10 picks = great first year of a rebuild. What’s up with all the shit salary on this roster, though? This team should have $30 million of cap; back the envelope says it doesn’t even have a rookie max available. Boo!
