What’s up fellas, it’s Edward Broussard here ready to make some bold statements about the league of BBS. For those that don’t know what BBS is, it’s a bunch of nerds who play a text based basketball game from 2001. Not a place you want your kids to know you frequented.
Here we have 4 of the more polarizing figures in the league. We have insane ’s co gm Play . The guy from Philly who tells you how it is in Stevie B . The guy from California with a failed rap career Galo , and last but not least, we have grieving Celtic fan DeeperThanSims joining us. Thank you for your (forced) cooperation fellas. Let’s get down to it.
1. The Bulls will win the East.
Play - Hot take - I need a better bench
Stevie B - Hot Take– Hornets and Magic are better, but we’ll see. Bulls are very good regardless. Rooting for Play.
DeeperThanSims - I want to say warm but I'm guessing that's not allowed so I'll go hot take. The Hornets are an incredible team and I wouldn't want to bet against Elgin Baylor. The Bulls can definitely win though. Paul Hicks starting for the Hornets is still a glaring weakness to me and the Bulls getting Noble was huge.
Galo - Warmish take. The Bulls are legit very good. Better than their numbers indicate.
2. The Kings will finally get it done.
Play - Hot take - Kings struggled against the Mavs. I dont see them getting out the West
Stevie B - Hot Take– This team has been low key really weird despite the best point differential out West. I think we can get through the West, but not sure we beat whoever comes out of the East. Here’s hoping, though!
DeeperThanSims - Hot take, which is crazy considering their team is very talented and maybe the most complete. I just have a sneaking suspicion that Wilt is going to beat them. If the Clippers advance, I got the Kings beating them, but then I think the Hornets or Bulls will beat the Kings in the Finals. Each of these teams have that super elite player (Wilt/Baylor/Hal) that I think the Kings will struggle with.
Galo - Warmish take. West looks tougher this year but they can do it. Honestly think they should have been the 6ers two season ago though.
3. Horace Walker is the best player in the draft.
Play - Hot take. GTFO with this bullshit
Stevie B - Hot Take– He’s going to be absolutely awesome, but I still think Oscar and Jerry West will be the better players.
DeeperThanSims - Hot take. I think Horace is still 3rd. The rebounding advantage that Oscar gives at PG isn't something you can pass on. He's the next Cloud. The +45 reward camps or whatever it is that Jerry West gets is just insane, I put him over Horace too. Horace's rebounding isn't guaranteed to develop, especially if he's low on potential. 3rd pick is good for him.
Galo - Hot take. No way. The Logo and Big O will be much better.
4. The Nets will not be contract year'd.
Play - Cold take. Rixey and Kaftan are a solid starting duo. Marty has picks to add another starter and if he needs to he can potentially trade LaRusso for a late 20s or early 30s stud. Marty has no clue about the trade market and tends to overpay though.
Stevie B - Cold Take– Marty always finds a way. I was kinda floored he made it the last go around, and so I’m not going to bet against him this time.
DeeperThanSims - Cold take. Nets already have a great base in Rixey, Groza, Kaftan and Rudy. Hornets whole team is in FA, they won't be the same next year. Heat will probably look to rebuild. Hawks rebuilding/retooling. It'll probably still be hard to make the playoffs but I'm thinking the Nets sneak in 42 wins.
Galo - Hot Take. Marty always finds a way to scrape through. Although I said that about Royal last time so there's always a chance.
5. Matt will draft a steal with one of his late firsts.
Play - cold take. with so many firsts, Matt is bound to find a quality starter in the late first.
Stevie B - Hot Take– It’s way too hard, and now with the questions it takes away even more potential sleeper options. He does have a million of them, but he’ll still need to deal a few since he has way more than 5 of them.
DeeperThanSims - Cold take. The steals have been exposed already lol.
Galo - Hot Take. There's a chance if he really researches and gets lucky but not sure how much time he's invested lately.
6. Kobe’s first 3Peat was more dominant than his last run.
Play - Hot take, my team was better than any other team Kobe faced during his runs and he came back from 3-1 twice against us.
Stevie B - Cold Take– This current run he has been on is probably the best we’ve seen in BBS thus far. It’ll be truly tough to have a more impressive run than that. Kudos to Kobe.
DeeperThanSims - If Kobe had 2 three peats then I definitely wasn't here for the 1st. Gonna go hot take. This last run was maybe the most dominant stretch of GMing I've seen personally. 5 straight finals while winning 4 is insane.
Galo - Hot take. Nah, I think he was down 0-3 to the Jazz and came back to win in 7 right? That was his last 3peat so nah.
7. 5 teams will be CYd in the next 3 seasons.
Play - Cold take, Rex, Chipper and Matt are the most likely teams to get CY'd in the next 3 seasons. But the Pacers and Wizards need to pick a direction or they will treadmill into their CY. You don't wanna be the team picking 10 thru 13 multiple times while tanking, especially in the East.
Stevie B - Hot Take– Not a chance in hell that happens but there will certainly be folks getting CYd, lol. I am interested to see how guys like Matt, Marty, Chip, and Rex navigate it, though.
DeeperThanSims - Flaming hot take! Lets say the Nets get CY'd. The next teams to potentially enter CY are:
Boston Celtics
Cleveland Cavaliers
Minnesota Timberwolves
San Antonio Spurs
Utah Jazz
Memphis Grizzlies
Hard to speak on future years obviously, but unless you think 2 from the Cavs/Wolves/Jazz/Spurs group are getting CY'd, 5 teams isn't close to happening. Those GMs are too good.
Galo - Hot take. Five? That's a shit load. I can see one or two at most.
8. A team from outside the top 8 projected will win the lotto.
Play - Cold take. I can see it happening. Jumping to 1 or 2 is considered winning the lotto to me in this draft
Stevie B - Cold Take– This just feels like a lotto where fuckery could happen. If one of them jumps to 1, 2, or 3…then I consider that a win.
DeeperThanSims - Hot take. I think those later lottos jump up to top 3 but do they ever land #1? I honestly don't know.
Galo - Cold take. Someone will jump and win the lotto.
9. Bill will finish with more titles than Wilt.
Play - Hot take. I think Wilt will get at least 2.
Stevie B - Hot Take– If Bill had a better GM, then I wouldn’t hesitate, but yeah. Wilt is just incredible, and I get that there are limitations, but I think John can put together a nasty inside offense. I’m not sure he even has that with this team yet, and they are giving Greeme a run for his money in the 2nd round.
DeeperThanSims - Cold take I guess. Bill is basically as good as Wilt but with the added benefit of being able to play in any offense. I'll side with the flexibility on this one. I do think Wilt will win titles despite the inside offense handicap. He's that dominant and I think we'll be crying about the potential resets soon enough.
Galo - Cold take. Bill already has one and doesn't have limitations of being stuck in an inside offense. Wilt might get one eventually though.
10. Taco Bell is the best food for munchies.
Play - Hot take. I don't get high though.
Stevie B - Hot Take– I’m not even a big Taco Bell kinda guy anyway, but no way.
DeeperThanSims - I don't really smoke but I'm going to say cold take. Taco Bell is disgusting around my way, it's just a soggy and sloppy ass mess with no meat. I'll take a McDonalds two cheeseburger meal over that.
Galo - Burning take. There's about 3-4 better options but if you like diarrhea in the morning I guess go off.
11. Shaedon Sharpe will be the best player from the NBA Draft.
Play - No take. I haven't seen Sharpe play at all, so I can't call it.
Stevie B - Hot Take– I don’t watch enough college like I used to, so I’m making a blind call here.
DeeperThanSims - Cold take but only because I don't know who this and didn't hear his name much. Shoutout future Celtics superstar J.D. Davison!
Galo - Scorching Take. Chet will be the best when said and done.
12. Dolphins will win the AFC east.
Play - Hot take. Tua is fucking garbage.
Stevie B - Hot Take– Dolphins typically find a way to screw up.
DeeperThanSims - I don't know shit about football so don't kill me, but I thought the Dolphins were ass? I'm gonna go hot take here.
