1. There were not nearly as many questions in the notes this time around. Think there's a good chance of some of the players that were picked in the 20s being steals?
DeeperThanSims - I doubt it. This draft looks barren in the 20s but that's to be expected. I think Donnie Butcher and Larry Siegfried can be solid back up PGs maybe, but I wouldn't call them steals. I think most of our complaints are on the mid-late lotto guys anyway. It's brutal to pick 5-13 and not get a good starter level guy out of it.
Zeke - Always, meh its a roll of the dice anyway so its hard to predict without notes. Idk maybe we can buy potential reveal in the future. Its hard to pick mid lottos. But I think this year had some nice consolation prizes.
Nanz - I’ve never really asked questions so I have no idea. I am more of a wing it guy and figure it out as we go… see who feels right at the time for team chemistry and morale. We’re all about drafting good people over talent.
chipper - I feel like there's 2 or 3 guys picked in the 20s who could go on to be really good starters in time. It just depends on how TC hits them.
2. This FA class looks like it might be the worst one overall for max players in a long time. I'm not asking you to give away any free agent strategies, or tell me any specific players, but is there anyone else besides Krebs that's deserving of a full max day 1, or even like a 3-year max?
DeeperThanSims - Only max players are Krebs and Newt. Beck on a 3yr max is cool I guess. Newt wasn't worth his bird year max IMO, so I declined it… now I lost him for nothing. I offered 16M a year over 7 years which amounts to higher starting and more total dollars than anyone else's max but whatever. The game is the game.
Zeke - Krebs, 1 yr max are always whatever as long as hes servicable or has potential its always worth it. I remembered I 1 yr maxed Jordan Poole and Jaxson Hayes non stop until i dont have the cap anyway. Makes the free agency tricky to not lose players. Krebs the only deserving of the full max imho. And he got it.
Nanz - Yup it was terrible. Took a chance on Dickey Gaines because why not. Hes doing 24 6 and 5 and hes only played 1 year. Lets take a flyer and see how it goes… everyone can relax….
chipper - this FA was trash. It was just Krebs and Newt. There were a lot of solid centers that got good deals on the first day though that could have been worth 1 year maxes.
3. I've asked this question before, but it's been a few seasons. What position in the league do you think is the deepest right now?
DeeperThanSims - Is it cheating to say the wing spots? I guess I'll say SG if I need to be more specific. It feels like there are a lot of good to great SGs out there. PG was the answer when I first joined here, then it became weak as the old guard retired, now we are back to the fuckery the arrivals of Greer, West, Oscar, etc.
Zeke - I was not paying attention to be honest and probably why ill get CYed. Used to be 40 PGs when we caught up in real life seasons. I think its the big position now. But I might be wrong. Its pretty balanced but the two best players are bigs and bigs/postups used to dominate real life NBA anyway.
Nanz - I guess probably SFs or SGs? Seems like a lot of solid dudes with only a few Dick Gaines to stand above the crowd.
chipper - Gotta be the wings. Baylor, Twyman, etc. PGs are coming though with Oscar, West, Greer.
4. Let's pretend FBB was smarter than it actually is and allowed for us to expand to a 30th team. What GM on the waitlist would you want to take over that 30th expansion team?
DeeperThanSims - breakthewalls deserves the next team. He's been actively checking the boards and is patiently waiting.
Zeke - An active ahsan is good for the league hes friends with everyone so him and when hes active he makes engaging things like podcasts, etc.
Nanz - Ahsan… who else do we have on the waitlist lol If hes gonna be active like he used to be he would be a great addition.
chipper - gotta be Ahsan, IMO. Left on good terms and would be great to have him back now that married life is dragging on him.
5. Who has been your favorite player to have in this version of BBS?
DeeperThanSims - I only had him for 2 seasons for DuJuan Wagner Jr was incredible. There wasn't a PG that could stop him. Seeing him torch St. Cloud and having crazy duels with Cousy was fun. Why did you retire so soon Wags… you were still 30/10 smh
Zeke - Dajuan Wagner and Red Rocha. Both are top 3 players on their position too bad I never had them at the same time.
Nanz - Trying to remember who I won my rings with but I don’t remember… sad. Ummmmmmmm Marko Simonovic. Guy was awful and had awful ratings but was a laker for life. He did block for us and was out starting C for one of our rings.
chipper - Twyman and I was an idiot for getting rid of him.
6. I love going to sporting events. Do you have a favorite memory from a sporting event you attended?
DeeperThanSims - Probably getting to see the Celtics "new big 3" live. I've seen Pierce play a handful of times but we were ass. Watching him along with KG/Ray and budding Rondo was art.
Zeke -
No one cares but this, check the atmosphere.
Nanz - Oh man LOL that’s a tough one. Ive had a lot of good times at games but mainly Yankee games. I’ll go with Arod hitting the game tying homer off Fuentes games 2 of the ALCS in the 11th was pretty awesome cause hes my guy.
chipper - That's a super tough question, tbh. I went to the watch party when the Braves won the WS last year, and that was awesome. Not really a sporting event though. Went to a few Falcons playoff games that were dope asf, and I was at Michael Jordan's "last" game in Atlanta when the Hawks were playing in the GA Dome. Set the NBA record for attendance that night- wasn't broken for forever.
7. Is a hot dog a sandwich, and why or why not?
DeeperThanSims - What's with these roundtables and glizzy questions? I don't know anyone who has ever referred to a hot dog as a sandwich. It's just a hot dog.
Zeke - This has been asked 10 thousand times on RTs. hotdogs you can put on different meal and theyre still hotdog. Sandwich you can change whats inside. So yea.
Nanz - Meat with bread covering top and bottom. I’ll go with YES.
chipper - Yes. By technicality, it is a sandwich.
8. Do Kevin Durant and/or Donovan Mitchell get traded in real life this offseason?
DeeperThanSims - Actually, I think both are staying. Nets aren't going to get whatever ridiculous package they want for KD and I don't think teams look at Mitchell as a guy you drop the bag on. I hope the Knicks aren't silly enough to unload RJ Barrett, whoever else and picks for Mitchell.
Zeke - Mitchell probably this season. I can see KD staying for a year then Nets settling whatever package they can get next year when hes 35. Mitchell to NY seems like a lock with the RJ Barrett max coming.
Nanz - Both will get traded and its gonna be awesome lol love big trades in the NBA. D-Mitch in NYC is gonna be sick
chipper - I don't think either get traded, but if one did, it'd probably be Mitchell. Makes the most sense. No one's going to pay the Nets outlandish asking price for 34-year-old KD.
9. Pick one- either give me your predicted World Series winner, or your predicted Premier League winner. Or both. Or, if you don't care for either of those- give me who you think wins the NBA title next season.
DeeperThanSims - Don't watch baseball or soccer much. Gonna go Celtics for the title next season!
Zeke - Celtics revenge tour next season. Brogdon and Gallo are nice pickups. Just need a third big and theyre gucci. I aint scared of Bucks and they prob get their revenge on Warriors.
Nanz - Yanks for sure babay! WE GOT IT THIS YEAR! LETS GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
chipper - Everyone's sleeping on the defending champs. Braves been looking amazing of late- think we can make a run 2nd half and I'd take us against anyone in the playoffs with our roster.
DeeperThanSims - I doubt it. This draft looks barren in the 20s but that's to be expected. I think Donnie Butcher and Larry Siegfried can be solid back up PGs maybe, but I wouldn't call them steals.
