Top 25 BBS20 Best Fake players (#12 thru #1)
It's hard to believe we only went through 7 drafts (22’-28’) with fake players before transitioning to Retro. It's also unbelievable that Spence only let GMs create players for a whopping 3 drafts until some GMs started abusing it and making studs out the gate (remember Jermaine Richardson), superior bigs (Sugar Dunkerton) and weird political figure comps (Percy really tried to make Obama a player). Still, some of our best and most fun players ever have been fakes. As more fakes retire and fade into the FBB sunset, let's take a look at the final list and break down #12 to #1.
1- SF Devereux St. Cloud (class of 2026)
6'7'' 210 20 C+ C+ C C B A
bbs2020.proboards.com/thread/10756/draft-profile-devereux-cloud-declared
Analysis – Probably the most prolific fake of all time was Pig’s creation which was a creation that carried over from past version of BBS. Cloud just won his 2nd ring of his career and at the ripe age of 37 is still putting up numbers. Although rated a SF, he’s been able to dominate at PG spot throughout his career for his superb rebounding and shooting abilities. With 5 MVPs in tow, Cloud easily takes the top spot here.
2- C Jalen Hayes (class of 2022)
6'7'' 290 19 B B- C- C+ B- A
Notes: Hayes is a very interesting prospect. Great inside scorer. Midrange is mediocre. Very good 3 point shot. Handles are poor. Has some solid stock potential. Solid rebounder also.
Analysis – Not sure who created Hayes but maybe it was Ashes if not Spence? Ryan did take him with #5 pick in the 22’ draft (courtesy of the Pacers pick) and then Jalen turned into a star. At least four Defensive Player of the Year awards in his career, multiple rebounding titles and was stellar on the defensive end. The only thing that held him back was his free throw shooting and shooting splits at the time although he helped carry Lums to his only Finals appearance in this version. GOAT level player – easily the best defensive fake player of all time.
3- C Kevin Loathe (class of 2027)
6'8'' 260 20 C A- F C A- A
bbs2020.proboards.com/thread/11261/draft-profile-kevin-loathe-declared
Analysis – Svedda’s creation is the quintessential 6th man of the year – still balling off the bench to this day. This was a spinoff from Kevin Love obviously as his attributes are identical to the former UCLA star. Loathe has been a pillar on many title contending teams and has been constantly signed to longer term deals and highly valued around the league.
4- PF Mack Drexel (class of 2023)
6'8'' 300 19 B- B- B+ D B+ A
Notes- Very good offense and midrange game. Great ball handler and passer. Very good rebounder.
Analysis – I’m almost certain this is another one of Go Niners ’s creation. Drexel being named Mack I’m guessing because he was like a mack truck in the paint, was one of the most unique players in fake history. Mack Drexel was a 300 pound bowling ball with no defensive game whatsoever but had crazy volume, shooting, rebounding and passing abilities. Definitely remains a BBS favorite and probably should be higher on this list. We may never see the return of the mack again.
5- SF Chris Hudson (class of 2025)
6'8'' 250 20 B B- C C+ C A
Notes: Early leader for 1st overall pick. Can score inside and from midrange very well. Very good handles. Will get stocks.
Analysis – Hudson is definitely one of the greatest fake wings of all time. He was a terror on the defensive end as he constantly was at the top of the steals and blocks categories. He rebounded well, scored at will and came in super young at only 20 years old. Hudson led the Warriors to their last BBS title in 2027 when they swept Lums’ Sixers in the finals.
6- SG Noble Herrero (class of 2028)
6'9'' 185 18 C+ B+ C+ B- C+ A
bbs2020.proboards.com/thread/11664/sf-noble-herrero-declared
Analysis – Noble was Brian’s creation and his last name of Herrero is Brian’s last name somehow translated in some other language? Idk. Either way, Noble came in super young at only 18 so he’s still playing at a high level for the Bulls and with (5!) rings to his name. Points, percentages, stocks, rebounds – almost a perfect wing aside from around 2 turnovers a game.
7- C Bassala Bagayo (class of 2027)
7'1'' 240 20 B B- B B- B- A
bbs2020.proboards.com/thread/11271/draft-profile-bassala-bagayoko-declared
Analysis - Go Niners made the man we’ve come to know as ‘BB’ today. Aside from turnovers, BB was awesome on the offensive end as he had a great 3PT stroke, hit free throws and had the volume to carry a frontcourt. He also made it difficult on opponents on the defensive end as he was the anchor of a couple championship teams.
8- PF Sean Ellison (class of 2024)
6'9'' 256 20 B C C- C C+ C
No Notes - was a steal
Analysis – Skillz found Ellison at the No. 15 pick in the 2024 draft and undoubtedly his best steal in league history. His initial ratings didn’t pop out at you but Ellison transformed into an elite level inside scorer and his defense came around as well. This PF was well revered on those winning Pacers, Knicks and Nuggets teams.
9- SG Terrell Thompson (class of 2024)
6'2'' 225 20 A- C+ C- C+ C B
Notes: Extremely good inside scorer. Solid handles. Steals. Good rebounder.
Analysis – The #1 pick in the 24’ class was TT – who ended up being of the most sensational scorers in this list. Thompson averaged in the mid 20 ppg for most of his career and even topped off at 30 ppg in some seasons. He was also a menace in the passing lanes being of the best ball thieves during his career. TT definitely has a special place in Bucks history.
10- PF Worm Namdor (class of 2028)
6'7'' 230 19 D D D B+ B+ A
bbs2020.proboards.com/thread/11741/pf-worm-namdor-declared
Analysis – Worm was a play on legendary forward Dennis Rodman (Namdor is Rodman backwards). Great big but currently on the trading block in Sacramento as Stevie B transitions to a soon-to-come rebuild. Worm has been on some great teams but only has 1 ring with the Mavs back in 2031.
11- C Amos Ashford-Fleet (class of 2028)
6'10'' 255 22 B- C D B B B
bbs2020.proboards.com/thread/11681/draft-profile-ashford-fleet-declared
Analysis – Two of the top 11 fakes are Pig creations – that should tell you something. AAF is definitely a guy Pig made up or maybe played with down in Ole’ Miss – who knows. In BBS, AAF was reliable big and manned the frontcourt for many solid contenders. Very nice big man – what’s wild is he fell to No. 10 behind major bust big men Anthony Benjamin (#4).
12- SG Jax Bryant (class of 2027)
6'4'' 204 19 B C C- C+ C A
Notes - Elite talent. Can score inside and from midrange. SOlid handles. Stocks. No 3 point shot.
Analysis – Felt like Jax got stuck in the same hate wagon as Koa Peat for a while so that’s why he checks in here at #12. Bryant is currently spending his last days on the Boston CY team as beastly has shackled the swingman on the Celtics with a number of high one year contracts. At his peak, Bryant was an excellent two way player making 4 defensive teams in his career and topping off at 31 points a game in 2039. At least Jax tasted glory one season in 2032 where he helped the Clippers win the title.
