I enjoy the discussion, not trying to get you to change stuff Me too. Id love to get Ashes in here. I feel like we have the most experience and we all did things different. I think our differences mostly stem from me not caring about how a player turned out to be in real life. In general I’d obviously make guys relatively look like they should when they were drafted, but I wouldn’t care if they got FBB’d and busted. Not saying that you care that much either, but you tend to make “bust proof” guys way more than I did, and I tended to make more steals than you did. |

Like I think the “flawed player” goal is admirable, but lately if you aren’t drafting the Russells, Baylors, Robinsons etc (or stealing them in FA) then you’re not really going to go far. But I’ve never had a problem with how you do drafts, I’ve just always been a believer in putting in those steal guys that go late draft occasionally to spice things up. The late steal types here are still usually one-dimensional, gimmicky, etc. I was always intentionally detailed or obscured in my notes, and usually very thorough about it, and obviously didn’t do the question thing. Some people liked it, some didn’t.
But I always enjoyed the aspect of every once I awhile finding that superstar late 1st or 2nd round, and that in general rarely happens here at best. I don’t mind that, just different than what I did.

As far as actual ratings for players when I made them in drafts, I did tend to fall more in line with broph was saying, there was usually a standard for strength, quickness, etc depending on big man, PG or whatever. I only occasionally did the super deceptive thing, and the one time I went overboard with it, I made a literal FBB god lol

I think the issue with FBB is when you want to try to get cute with stuff, you lock yourself in to that for decades of files, because then the one guy that breaks that mold and is the prototypical FBB monster ends up being absurdly dominant. Like I wanted to try making “realistic” turnover numbers, but inevitably you’ll get those few that develop past it. I dunno.
It’s fun and frustrating at the same time.

Like even now you have to take a lot of liberties because none of these old fuckers could actually shoot. But if you make a decade of guys that are C- outside, it won’t work haha

I was working on a fresh 1980 file relatively recently when I was thinking about starting a league, but it got boring when everyone outside a few guys are like B+ C scoring, and that was being generous 3P-wise.

For me making the league file is probably the most fun. ANd then seeing how they sim. Extremely satisfying.

It’s too much! How about lotto at allstar break teams get 5 questions each. Playoff teams 2.
Thread locks at playoffs.
Steve then organizes it into an article for a +5.
Also if you have the heart for it add a few back stories and stips. Doesn’t have to be hard core as wilt but a guy who if he makes all rookie team gets a +4 pot bc he proved doubters wrong or some minimal shit. Might give mid prospects more value.
