1. Before we get into the draft, Braz’ Raptors have just completed a 3-Peat. They are now officially a dynasty. Who has had the best dynasty since we’ve started this whole thing?
Ahsan: I love this Raptor team and it is especially difficult to do when the eras have been so difficult - we have those Cavalier teams, those Heat teams, those Hornet teams, couple nice Rocket teams in there but I would say the Raptors are the best for 3 reasons: 1) League is more inflated now being almost 50 seasons in, 2) The teams they have beaten to get to where they've gotten (ie. Eddy's Timberwolves, Skillz' Grizzlies, DBW's Hawks, Play's Bulls, Vedda's Cavs, etc) to achieve this type of success, 3) Just look at their roster, stacked everywhere. I do feel like this is the best we've seen in this version.
Andy: I think the Heat still take it, at least for now. They won like 5 out of 6 right? Some shit like that. It's impressive no matter what. The Raps run is great and still not over. We'll see how much longer it goes.
Eddy: Heat had a better run but if Raptors make it 4 straight they are in the running.
Kobe: Heat baby. Almost 5 in a row.
2. After Rick Barry and Cunningham, who in your opinion will be the best player in this draft?
Ahsan: I think it will be Dick Van Arsdale. He got the potential boost, likely making him in the 90s or maybe even 100. Honestly feel like Arsdale may end up being better than Cunningham now that he has the boost. Few reasons: 1) He is SG-eligible with C+ rebounding, 2) Good positional defender who gets steals, 3) Elite handles, 4) Good inside scoring and midrange. I feel like DVA could end up becoming a 25+ PPG 7+ RPG with decent steals and elite handles (assuming he has 90+ potential and strong TCs). Is he worth Bill Russell? Nahhhhhh BUT he'll be a great player in his own right.
Andy: Dick Van Arsdale might end up being pretty good with that +15. Goodrich likely will be a really good scorer. There are some really solid C potential players that, if camped right and have good potential have a shot. Archie Clark is one. Kytle might be interesting as well. Ultimately, I'll go with DVA.
Eddy: DVA for sure he’s a superstar
Kobe: Archie Clark
3. Besides Bradley going at #2, what was the worst pick of the lottery?
Ahsan: Eddie Jackson.Sure he has upside and could end up having strong TCs and becoming good but with players like Rambo, Kytle, Walker, Pradd available - I just didn't love the pick. Again, I might end up being wrong but purely from a value standpoint, I just didn't love it.
Andy: Eddie Jackson I think. A player like that would likely be available much later in the draft. His notes don't really make him seem like a can't miss prospect and I think there were for sure better players available.
Eddy: Whoever the guy the Lakers picked. Mid and good upside we’re his notes. Yikes
Kobe: Eddie Jackson, another Lakers pick. I think Rambo and Kytle should have gone higher.
4. Once we got past the lottery, what was your favorite pick? Do not include a pick you made (if you did make one)?
Ahsan: It's Pradd at 21. Any time I see an SG with elite inside and elite quickness, I feel like that's exciting. If the outside develops (though his jumpshot seems to be good already), he will become a lethal player. I had a lotto grade on him and he went 21st Overall. I declare DBW Draft Champion.
Andy: Pradd by the Hawks. I expected him to go higher. He likely won't be a star but he should be a pretty damn good scorer from jump. I can see him being a very capable 6th man at worst. In the 20s, that's a solid pick up.
Eddy: DVA at 5, or clippers at 13 with Rambo.
Kobe: Idk draft kinda died after the lottery. Bunch of boring scrubs. No one looks halfway exciting except the guy I picked, Leroy Walker.
5. Thoughts on Eddy acquiring the brothers in a trade for Bill Russell? Many seem to hate it, but are we underscoring the +15 pot they’ll both get?
Ahsan: Spoke on it a while back - Tom will be an elite SG in this league assuming he has strong TCs (which there is a VERY good chance of happening with the potential boost). That being said, an elite SG is not worth Bill Russell in my eyes. Bill is a game changer, he's the type of player who can win 30+ games on his own (as he did with those shit Sixer teams trying to tank). Didn't love it but I do think Dick is good and potentially great (pause).
Andy: I didn't love it but I get it. Part of it is value and part of it I'm sure was fuck it. I think the +15 will help push Dick up into a great player. Not sure it'll help Tom climb into a different tier then he would've been but he should still be solid.
Eddy: I got terrible value but want to have fun and think Dick and Tom are fun guys
Kobe: He had to move Lenny to get one of the brothers so that makes it even worse. Dick will probably be good but he's still not worth Russell. But Russell is exp and went to a irrelevant team so whatever.
6. Break is always in the mix for getting CYd. He just acquired an absolute game changer in KC Jones. Does he reset this up and coming season? Yes or no…
Ahsan: Honestly bro, the East is not easy. The Magic had one of the best bigs in the league and one of the best backcourts in the league and they were the 8th seed with 44 wins. He isn't better than the Raptors, Hawks, Cavaliers, Heat. The Hornets, Celtics, 76ers still solid. That's 7 teams. Now for the 8th seed, I'd say Magic are still better. Wouldn't be shocked if the Knicks make some moves around Bellamy or the Bulls around Hal. As good as KC is (and the answer is VERY GOOD), the Bucks had a better team around him (Layton Johns, Jerry Mullen, Mel Peterson) and they ended up being lotto. He has a ton of moves to do.
Andy: I'll say no. I'm not sure if that really is the plan anyways but there is a lot of work to be done. KC can help win a lot of games alone but the Wiz need a solid amount of help. I can see one more tank season happening to acquire another solid asset.
Eddy: Yes he resets the east is weak.
Kobe: I think he resets as long as he doesn't make any bad moves. KC is worth 30 wins alone and if he resigns Turner that's a nice backcourt. Just gotta put solid defenders and rebounders around them.
7. In FA, will there be a big named FA to switch teams? If so, who?
Ahsan: I think the Magic lose either Guerin or Stokes. Not sure which one. I think they may underpay Guerin due to his age and some random desperate team gives him a fat contract hoping he retires on it.
Andy: I'll say no. I think it'll be a pretty boring FA overall. It isn't outstanding to begin with tbh.
Eddy: Yes. Loughery will be playing elsewhere
Kobe: Who knows and who cares because I don't have cap! Still pissed I didn't sign anyone after having cap 4 straight years. I got a bad feeling that Turner might leave the Wizards but I'm not sure how many maxes he will get.
8. Top 5 situations in BBS right now?
Ahsan:
1) Raptors - 3x Defending Champs, what else do I need to say?
2) Hawks - Elite players at 4 positions and a solid bench
3) Spurs - Thurmond+Oscar+Newt is such a sick core, as Ashes continues to build around them. Feel like he'll have something special.
4) Knicks - Bellamy, Block, Carlton and a shitton of cap. What's not to love?
5) Kings - Once Hazzard becomes THAT guy, they'll be unstoppable. Especially if they add some depth. Feel like they could come out of the West this season.
Andy: In no order, Raps, Pacers, Spurs, Kings and I want to say Hawks. I do love the Suns core but the Hawks have a lot of top tier talent.
Eddy:
Kings
Spurs
Hawks
Suns
Pacers
Kobe:
Raptors-Obvious
Spurs-stealing Big O makes you good
Hawks-Championship squad
Pacers-Mullins,Cunningham,Love going in to your 2nd year of rebuild is a great start
Suns-Lenny is the PG they need and still have other pieces to move for more upgrades
9. Top 3 WORST situations in BBS right now?
Ahsan: 1) Celtics - Wtf am I doing
2) Wizards - Yeah they added KC which is terrific. They need to re-sign that SG they got from Portland, will likely require giving out a massive contract. They'll be stuck with no cap and no ability to really improve their roster. And only have 2 years left on their CY. If they end up being a middling 35ish-40ish win team this season, they'll go into their CY in a rough situation.
3) Lakers - Yeah they got a ton of picks, none look great. Taking Bradley over Cunningham was wild. They got Daniels, Bradley - both nice, neither amazing and nobody.
Andy: Hornets, Mavs and Wiz. I'll pick these three because I feel like all three are stuck in that limbo area of "are they rebuilding or trying to win still". I don't think any team, if replaced, would need a free CY year to get out of it. So no god awful situations right now.
Eddy:
Wolves
Nuggets
Wizards
Kobe: Nets-not sure if marty gonna be able to make cy this time
Wizards-i think break will make his cy but still a shitty situation
Lakers-don't have much on the roster besides Bill Bradley who was a big reach
10. How’s everyone’s football teams doing? Whether it’s college or in the Pros.
Ahsan: Let's not talk about college but my Niners got the best defense in the NFL. Feel like once we get healthy, should make a strong run. Quite stacked at all three levels of defense. Looked really nice on Monday Night.
Andy: So. Cowboys. Not sure how they are winning but idk. I just can't seem to be interested tbh. Eagles are clearly the best team in the division. Another winning season means this fucking HC may stay longer. Makes no sense.
Eddy: Dolphins have been good. Think if we had Tua all game last game we are 4-0 but the season outlook looks bright.
Kobe: Bama looking great. I think Bryce shoulder gonna be alright.
