The Max Contracts…
2047 181 Magic Sign SG Richie Guerin for $111,492,470 over 5 years.
2047 181 Magic Sign PF Maurice Stokes for $138,430,915 over 6 years.
Verdict: Listen, both are overpays in the sense of just the whole age thing. At the end of the day, however, Galo had no choice but to do this. He needs both guys, but if I were him, I’d be looking to pivot away from this grouping. This was not a really effective team, and it’s not a core that will work. He should move off of both players soon before those contracts become even worse as they age.
2047 181 Spurs Sign SG Kevin Loughery for $115,500,000 over 7 years.
Verdict: No brainer type max here for Ashes who had to bring back Loughery. He’s an extremely efficient player who has a really great steal:turnover ratio.
2047 181 Jazz Sign SF Don Nelson for $115,500,000 over 7 years.
Verdict: Another no brainer max here, but in a turn of events, he is being signed and traded to Sargo. Fun deal where we see Habes get Charlton. I like Charlton, but don’t love that he is expiring.
2047 181 Wizards Sign SG Jack Turner for $115,500,000 over 7 years.
Verdict: He’s absolutely not worth the max, but what else was Break going to do? I just don’t think you can take a chance on losing him on a team with limited assets. It’s not ideal, but I certainly get it.
Other Multi-Year Contracts…
2047 181 Knicks Sign PG Darrell Tucker for $20,000,000 over 2 years.
Verdict: Tucker did well on a loaded Hawks team, but I don’t know how much I love the player in terms of if you wanna win big. I just think you need an elite PG to really win it all these days. I don’t view him as such, but I also know Mike is just getting this thing turned around, so it’ll be interesting to see where he goes from here.
2047 181 Grizzlies Sign PG Al Butler for $11,970,000 over 2 years.
Verdict: Very nice contract. I would’ve offered the MLE if I didn’t have so many options there. Certainly going to be intriguing to see how he does over a full season with him being camped out now.
2047 181 Cavaliers Sign C Johnny Green for $75,000,000 over 5 years.
Verdict: Surprised he didn’t get maxed by another team. For Vedda, this is about as good as one can hope for in a defensive big who is one of the best. Career averages of 12 RPG and a 4:1 stock:turnover ratio is elite shit.

Verdict: The definition of a 3 and D guy, and this contract is pretty awesome considering. Really smart signing by Unc here to lock up a nice backup wing piece.
2047 181 Raptors Sign SF M.C. Burton for $6,442,650 over 6 years.
Verdict: Absolute depth piece, and I love these types of contracts. They’ll never hurt you, and only can provide immense value. Burton is a guy who has incredible stock numbers and possesses strong handles as well. Nice job by the champ here.

2047 181 Timberwolves Sign SG Dan Mannix for $7,500,000 over one year.
Verdict: Low-key a really underrated depth piece. Mannix is a pretty nice 1-2 backup. I’m a fan of this signing for sure.
2047 181 Super Sonics Sign SG Hal Lear for $12,000,000 over one year.
Verdict: Absolute backup 1-2 type player, but Jr. should be able to fetch a first for him if somebody can match. I can dig it if he can pull that off.
2047 181 Clippers Sign C John Smyth for $5,400,000 over one year.
Verdict: Backup big. 1 year coring deal. Nothing else really to note here.

Verdict: I don’t know. Backup guy, but could be used for filler down the line for Game.

Verdict: Hard for me to see a C+ defending big, but he doesn’t sim terribly. Has to be an atrocious post dender, though.

Verdict: It’s alright. I mean you could certainly do worse, but I’m not exactly a fan of George Lee, but he will absolutely be backing up anyway, so it’s strong from that point of view.

Verdict: Like this one. Another solid depth signing here. Why we have the ol’ LLE!
