Going down the list of teams, just naming random players that could be traded per each team. Interested to see if there are any agreements or just, you know, STFU's.
Boston Celtics - Maurice McHartley: I’m not sure how good double M will be but he clearly isn’t going to get any love in Boston. With the Celtics trading for Buzz and building a team only Andy (not me) can love, it might be the best time to move Maurice and acquire a capable SF.
Miami Heat – Guy Sparrow: The Heat don’t really have any bad contracts. Some overpaid guys but I assume they will play important roles (Howie and Sparrow) but I do believe Sparrow is near the end of the bench and while it’s always good to have bench guys you can rely on, paying them j11 and 12 Mil is kind of rough. The Heat look like they need a top tier option and I would assume Sparrow’s deal would need to be a part of any deal there.
NJ Nets – Shelie McMillon: Is he solid? Yeah I guess. Is he worth his deal, especially for a tanking team? That’s a no.
NY Knicks – Wali Jones: Not really a talent thing. Not really a contract thing. Feel like it’s a fit thing. Nelson is a good player, just not sure if he’s a legit SF. I can see the Knicks moving Wali for a legit SF and letting Donny run the 2. Wali still has value, of course but if the Don Nelson project at SF doesn’t work then I can see Wali being on the move.
Orlando Magic – Richie Guerin: Cool. He’s back. Now is the time to trade him. He’s 33 and clearly on the decline. Obvious it would depend on what he gets back but if the Magic can begin trying to get younger and maybe build a team along with Attles, it might be something to look into.
Philadelphia 76ers – Win Wilfong: Not sure where he fits for the 76ers right now. Lennie seems to be pushed to SF when he should really be a SG. Ideally, Win would be moved for assets or outright for a SF. Some big help wouldn’t hurt either.
Washington Wizards – Paul Silas: Turner and KC is a very solid/good backcourt. KC alone should carry the Wiz to a shit load of wins. The issue with the Wizards is that, aside from those 2, it’s a bit meh. Moe might be a fine SF, depending on the bigs. Speaking of bigs, yeah, Silas is the only one. Getting KC was a “dick on the table” move. Let’s make more of those. We need frontcourt players. Let’s build a winner here.
Atlanta Hawks – Marlbert Pradd: So, the dude just got C+ outside scoring. Clearly he’s going to be a top tier scorer. If he has potential he might be a stud and he’s going to be moved? Yeah. When your roster has Embry, Halbrook, McCoy and Jones, just get me a PG. The Hawks current three PG’s played as many minutes last season as I did. I mean sure, the Hawks could likely find a solid PG with picks but let’s see what picks and Pradd might get.
New Orleans Hornets – Lums Leftovers: This isn’t a shot at Jah. I get it. Ideally though, the Hornets can push towards a reset and then can deadline deal some of these dudes for a full rebuild. Hagan and Ramsey especially, since they are both 34.
Chicago Bulls – Hal Greer: I guess the Bulls plan on tanking again around Greer dropping 40 ppg. I do wonder what offers were placed out there and while Greer will always be a top guy, the league moves quick. With the Bulls resetting, I woud’ve expected Greer to move. If the offers aren’t there now, I wonder what exactly the expectation for him is going forward. A top pick isn’t farfetched. A package of picks isn’t either.
Cleveland Cavs – Elgin Baylor: I mean, yeah, the Cavs can keep him and reset but I’m sure they aren’t exactly having fun doing that. The Cavs have a roster that can reset for sure but I would be interested to see what a Baylor deal would look like. He was supposed to go to Memphis last year but I guess not? Idk. I must’ve missed something there. A Cavs reset and deadline deal would be cool for the Cavs before having to deal with that fun 3rd big contract for Baylor.
Detroit Pistons – Everyone: The Pistons roster is...fine. Their chance to reset is….fine. idk. They did struggle a bit after a hot start last year and with the Pistons having their picks for the most part, it might be time. See how the season starts and if anything, let them all go.
Indiana Pacers – Chico Vaughn: I mean, I gotta pick someone right? That said, is Chico a starting caliber PG or more of a 6th man? Idk. I feel like Chico has gotten some really good offers for him and having to deal with bringing him back won’t be fun if he doesn’t resign. I’m nitpicking. Pacers don’t have a ton of players.
Milwaukee Bucks – Walter Dukes: I mean, yeah. Still a pretty capable big, albeit overpaid. Could retire next year. Maybe. A big fall off for a dude that was considered a stud not long ago.
Toronto Raptors – Charlie Tyra: Funny enough, before the deal, I would’ve had Buzz here so, yeah. With Krebs and Gello up front, wouldn’t be the worst thing to break up Tyra’s deal. I mean, let’s be honest, the Raps likely can make one more run anyways but yeah. Needed a name here.
Dallas Mavericks – Larry Costello: Buzz is great. The frontcourt is solid overall (at least starting). The Mavs could use, like, an entire backcourt. Hundley would be a solid 6th man so there’s that. Costello and some picks plus other expiring can maybe help the Mavs build up an actual back court? Idk.
Denver Nuggets – Everyone not named Bill and Langston: They all ass. I fully expect royal to get some solid talent eventually though for a reset.
Houston Rockets – Al Rochelle: Bro seems to be a really big Willie fan and I believe the Rockets are rebuilding anyways. Let’s go all the way. Give big Willie the keys and see what he can do with them. If he’s any good, him and Jerry plus another high lotto could be fun going forward.
Minnesota Timberwolves – Kenny Sears: The Wolves seem in the middle of a retool situation. Howell is still under 30 so he can likely hang around while watching the Arsdale bros go through TC’s. Sears would be an ideal player to be moved. Sears had a solid season last year but he is 32, expensive and likely won’t get much better.
San Antonio Spurs – Warren Sutton: The Spurs are clearly in win now mode. Sutton doesn’t really have a place on the squad right now. See what can be gotten with him and maybe picks.
Utah Jazz – Magic Mike: Not totally sure what the Jazz plan is currently but they don’t own their picks currently so I guess it’s all about winning. That said, the Jazz do have a solid amount of work ahead of them. If things don’t work out and they can get their pick back, Mike should land a solid amount in a deal.
Memphis Grizzlies – Bob Pettit: The Grizzlies have some outstanding scoring options. I do think they really need a PG upgrade. If they can move Pettit for a better PG and land another non scoring high rebs/blocks big, I think they could be a more complete team. Skillz has a tendency to make multiple trades where he gets players he needs and assets to make other trades to get other assets and then more trades to get other assets to then…yeah. Either way, it translates into wins.
Golden State Warriors – Wilt Chamberlain: It’s time to free the franchise. Whoever the new GM is will have to deal with those stips. Not ideal when the team should be rebuilt (or, maybe it is tbh). Either way, eventually the new GM will want to build the team his way. Wilt likely would be hard to do that from jump.
LA Clippers – Dave Gambee: Just trade this dude for a pick already so we don’t have to hear about him anymore.
LA Lakers – Len Chappell: Not many options tbh. Len doesn’t fit the roster overall and he might net a decent asset. Yes, I am running out of steam on this article.
Phoenix Suns – Em Bryant: Bryant looks to be a solid PG. If he has a solid TC, I think he can be a capable starter for a team. That said, the Suns already have one in Lenny. If they can put together some assets like Em and picks for a starting SF, they can make some serious noise.
Portland Trailblazers – Monk Meineke: I mean, Willie could’ve been here as well but I think Monk is more realistic. He doesn’t fit the Blazers role and while neither dude likely nets a 1st, some 2nd’s won’t hurt. Plus, you know, less wins. Always good.
Sacramento Kings – Maurice King: The Kings kept Walt because they had massive hopes for him going forward. They also drafted a PG in Flynn. A good TC for Walt, which is likely tbh, might push him into a starting role. If the Kings can use King’s expiring for an upgrade somewhere, like the frontcourt, it might be worth looking into. The Kings are a very talented team that can go far if they have a good TC.
Seattle Supersonics – Dick Gaines: An expensive and useless dick is never ideal.
Boston Celtics - Maurice McHartley: I’m not sure how good double M will be but he clearly isn’t going to get any love in Boston. With the Celtics trading for Buzz and building a team only Andy (not me) can love, it might be the best time to move Maurice and acquire a capable SF.
