1. TC is almost here! Give me a rundown of your offseason so far(draft, trades, etc) and what you're expecting in TC from your guys.
nybombers3 Finally traded KC so there's that. Have some decent youth in Johns, Clark and Fox plus a few other dudes. Hoping Clark has some nice potential in the tank. Johns got the +15 potential so we'll see what happens there. Hopefully it helps this TC. Fox, we'll see. I expect him to be a SF eventually but I'm going to keep him at C for this TC. We'll see how things go. Mostly looking forward to Clark tbh.
autumn harold Just trying to figure out how to build this team without having to rebuild, and I think the way to do that is to get as many assets as possible and consolidate them into a better core. Remains to be seen if I can pull it off. Will need good development from guys like Block, Wendelken, Charlton, and Brewer, and need to make a few good signings in FA. I think I’ll have a solid TC since I have tons of young guys.
Stevie B Nothing crazy. Got a nice PG who might be able to pop. Worse case scenario he’s an excellent backup. Aside from that, I was always staying the course. Our ability to go from contenders to title favorites hinges on Hazzard big time. If he pops, Barnes and LJ continue to progress, and my other stars continue to roll…well then, I’m going to be pretty excited!
DeeperThanSims This off-season is probably a net negative for me. I was already weak at PG and now I lost Tucker. I sent a few trade offers but didn't get any traction. I think I did well enough in the draft with my late picks. Looking forward to seeing Pradd sim, I think he's a much better prospect than a lot of guys picked ahead of him. My team is older so I'm not expecting anything crazy in TC. Solid improvements from McCoy, Pradd and McIntyre would make me happy.
2. Outside of yourself, who would you say had the best offseason and the worst offseasons so far? Why?
nybombers3 Best: Can I say the Wizards? I don't really see anyone making any power moves that moved the needle. The Nuggets landing Bill was great for sure. The Sonics landing the top pick was obviously great. Suns finding that PG they needed is big. The Wiz landed a top tier PG and brought back their big FA. It's a good leap. Let's see if they can stick the landing.
Worst: Lakers. Didn't love their picks overall and didn't do anything in FA so far. Also kind of gave up on Vince. idk. Wasn't a fan of what they've done so far.
autumn harold Best is tough since there hasn’t been much dealing and there weren’t any big FA signings. I liked Andy’s draft a lot. I disliked Outlawz’ draft. Royal stole Russell but doesn’t have a team around him. IDK, you fellas need to start dealing.
Stevie B I liked the Suns acquiring Wilkens. Makes them extremely tough now. Braz going from Buzz to Kojis to extend the window is pretty wild, too. I also liked what Mike did, too. Hawks are losers? I don’t know. Who is their PG? What’s the plan there? Eddy my guy, but throwing in the towel is a tad disappointing. I wonder how that trade will end up, though.
DeeperThanSims Best off-season is definitely the Nuggets getting Bill Russell for the Arsdale bros. I just don't think the Bros will be that good unless Spence set their potentials at 85. Honorable mention to Break for getting KC on the Wiz, that was a nice deal. Worst off-season.... HF is my mans n em but I might need to put the Wolves here. I think he blew up a championship contender prematurely and didn't get proper value back.
3. What are your plans for the season? Which players are you trying to trade and what are you looking to get for them?
nybombers3 Oh still tanking. Main guy I'm trying to move in Walter Dukes. I get it, he's overpaid and has long on his deal. I seriously doubt he'll play all of it. That said, Dukes is a more then capable player. I think he can still start in the league and someone can use him. Besides him, idk. Not really rushing to move anyone else.
autumn harold I really want to sign two of my remaining FA targets and get some good rebounding development out of Block. If I can do that, I’ll just compete and try to deal my way into contending. If it doesn’t go well I might try to get my 48 but ehhh don’t wanna.
Stevie B Honestly just trying to move King and a 1st for a veteran big that can slot in as my backup. The rest is set tbh
DeeperThanSims I need a solid outside shooting PG with good defense. Tucker gave me great production but he was a sieve on defense and his lack of a 3 ball really hurt our offensive potential. I'd be happy with someone like Hot Rod Hundley or a few of the guys in FA. Not looking to trade my guys, I'll probably just do pick deals. I think my 2-5 is best in league, but the glaring hole at PG is a killer.
4. Billy Cunningham or Ricky Barry. Who do you think will be the better player? Does Bill Bradley have a chance to be half as good as either of them?
nybombers3 I think I would've gone Barry as well. Billy is a great number two though. As for Bill, idk. He's a solid scorer, has solid strength and jumping, elite handles and is an elite defender (not stocks, just positional). I think he can be as good as Billy, obviously depending on camps and TC's. It'll be a long journey though. Maybe Outlawz see's a Paul Milsap type there? I believe Milsap really went off with him.
autumn harold RB has elite inside scoring. Gonna be one of the best scorers during his prime. They’ll prob be even in their primes, but give me the unstoppable scorer. Bradley is so tough. I really want to like him and feel like he has massive potential, but he’s a tweener, with so-so rebounding and stocks. Don’t see him being a good SF, just gotta hope the stocks and rebounds come along well at PF. Probably not half as good as those guys.
Stevie B I’ll take Rick Barry for sure. Liked his notes better and he’s a former Warrior. Cunningham will obv be really good, though.
Nope.
DeeperThanSims Rick Barry, elite inside scorer is big. Billy should be great in his own right though. Bradley is an interesting player with his elite perimeter and post defense. He has some ways to go to match Rick and Billy but I do think he'll be good.
5. Who do you think had the best and worsts drafts this year? Any guesses on who the C scouted player with big potential is?
nybombers3 Best: Wolves had a good draft. They landed the twins. I'm ignoring what they moved to get them because, let's be honest, whoever landed them had to pay to play. Bulls getting a very solid player in Kytle is nice. Heat and Hawks landed pretty solid players in their only selections as well.
Worst: Not sure if anyone did anything more weird/controversial then the Lakers really. Lazy answer but yeah. It might turn out well but I feel like they could've traded down and have gotten both the dudes they drafted.
As far as who the C potential dude is, I'll just say Clark because fuck it.
autumn harold Going with what I said above. Loved Andy’s draft. Didn’t like either of Outlawz’ picks. For the steal, I’ll say Rambo. Feel like he has secret potential in there. I have no idea tbh.
Stevie B Eddy. He landed the brothers, bottom line. I love ‘Lawz, but that was kind of brutal how he handled the lottery. I think it’s going to be Archie Clark or John Rambo. Both didn’t have notes I don’t think so Spence was trying to hide both for a reason.
DeeperThanSims Pacers getting Billy 3rd is a win. I like the Bulls draft, Kytle looks like he can start right away after his camps and Nance seems decent. I'm still not sold on Archie Clark but I like the Jim Fox pick at #9 for the Bucks. Worst draft is the Lakers by far. Skipped Cunningham for Bradley, and guys like Eddie Jackson literally never pan out here. As far as the C scouted steals, I drafted Ken McIntyre thinking he's that guy. It's probably Leroy Walker, but he's a SG.
6. If there was one player under 28 that you could pick to start your team, who would it be and why?
nybombers3 Walt Bellamy. I almost went Jerry and I wouldn't judge anyone taking him because, you know, PG. That said, having a big that dominate is a good advantage to have. I'm ignoring players on rookie deals because, eh. That said, I love McCoy. Dude just looks nasty. He'll likely turn into a straight star this TC.
autumn harold It’s between Oscar Robertson and John Havlicek, right? Gotta be Havlicek.
Stevie B Havs, he’s literally absurd. And it’s crazy for me to pick anybody over Oscar, but I’m doing just that!
DeeperThanSims Jerry West. PG is so thin, West is elite and continues to improve every year still.
7. There has been some talk about removing or changing Wilt's stip. How do you feel about that? Should we change the stip in anyway or just keep it the way it is?
nybombers3 Keep that shit. It's something fun and different overall then anything else we've had. Let's let it run and see if anyone can make it work. Would it be the worst thing if Wilt never won one?
autumn harold Yeah, it’s gotta go IMO. No one is gonna win with him, so as is, the only point of his career is to pad stats. Why not free him and see how Wilt teams fare if his team plays by the same rules as everyone else’s. TBH there’s zero reason to single him out for restrictions in a league with Oscar, Elgin, Havlicek, Sam Jones, Russell, Twyman, etc.
Stevie B I’m cool with it being removed, but why not at least remove the position restriction at the very least? To not be able to switch Wilt from C to PF or vice versa is completely asinine.
DeeperThanSims I always thought the offense stipulation should be balanced but now I think Broph is right... allowing Wilt to play on balanced offense teams just makes him even more overpowered. We have to keep it as is.
8. NBA is back! How is your team looking for the upcoming year? Tanking for Vic or trying to win? Give me your NBA finals matchup for this year.
nybombers3 The Knicks are not tanking for Vic but should be. That said, idk. I want to be confident in this team. We haven't had a legit PG since, Mark Jackson? Charlie fucking Ward? Steph Marbury? Steve Fran....nvm. It's been a long ass time.
NBA Finals. I guess Bucks/Warriors.
autumn harold Don’t have a team. Let’s go Sixers-Warriors, Warriors repeat.
Stevie B 10 9 8 76ers! Hoping we can get past the 2nd round!! Let’s go 76ers and Warriors!
DeeperThanSims I think the Celtics can make the finals again despite the fuckery with Ime. I see the vision with Malcolm Brogdon, he's the elite playmaker that the Celtics needed. Hopefully they can win this time.
9. October baseball is here! Phillies with a big win over the Cards today. Do the Mets beat the Padres tonight? Who do you have in the World Series this year?
nybombers3 I think the Mets lose the series, beginning tonight. It's weird. I fully expected the Mets to make a run this year but man, losing the division even though you've led for almost 95% of it has to be a massive blow. The Mets getting swept by the Braves was rough. As for the WS, the Yankees Vs Dodgers. I don't think it'll actually happen but I'm sure baseball would want that or Yankees/Mets.
autumn harold Watching the Mets lose so gonna say no there. Going with a Mariners miracle run before getting swept by the Dodgers.
Stevie B Absolute epic 9th inning! Seriously! I’m responding to this while the Mets are getting their asses kicked sooooo
I’ll say it’s Astros and Braves this year.
DeeperThanSims Don't watch baseball. Go Red Sox? Or if they aren't in, I'll bandwagon whoever.
10. Happy Friday! Any fun weekend plans for the fellas?
nybombers3 Nothing wild. Maybe Bronx Zoo this weekend. Chillin besides that.
autumn harold Got a bunch of work stuff this weekend unfortunately, but we’re going on a quick vacation from Wednesday-Sunday so it’s all good. Let me get that RC baby.
Stevie B Chillin’ tonight, BUT going to extreme rules tomorrow and I plan on hitting Philly up for the eagles game on Sunday with the boys. Big weekend!
DeeperThanSims Just got back from dinner with a few friends. I'll be chilling the rest of the weekend.
nybombers3 Finally traded KC so there's that. Have some decent youth in Johns, Clark and Fox plus a few other dudes. Hoping Clark has some nice potential in the tank.
