1. The Warriors have a new GM and one of the most polarizing stars in BBS. What do the Warriors need to do to be successful this year?
Go Niners : I don't know anything about this guy except that he is new to FBB. I honestly do feel like it's best for him to deal Wilt, find a way to get his picks back plus additional youth and assets. Rebuild and start from scratch. Inside offense is tricky and requiring the right personnel and might not be the best thing for somebody who is new to the game.
Braz - would be really ideal if he got a great rebuild offer and could start there or another equal star. But if they hold out try to figure out the game of fbb really.
hf - Warriors should be patient or try to get their pick back while stool learns the game. He’s a smart guy so I think he’ll pick it up quickly.
autumn harold : They have no chance of doing anything this season, so just ride out 45 wins. Longer term, my plan would be to wait til Cousy retires/expires, try to add a third star in FA, and use picks + cap flexibility to build a roster. For a new guy who’s just getting a hold of the league, there’s only downside in dealing Wilt.
2. Offseason is over. Did it go to your expectations?
Go Niners : I mean I got Toy Story so that's fun. It was my fav Pixar movie as a kid. As far as how it went, I feel like I still need to make a couple more moves to get to where I want to be but chipping away. My window is only like 2 years so have to make the most of it. Need an emergency PG, could use another big or two and a better SF but overall, I like this squad. Love Woody+Rudy, love Buzz+Larry, feel like the other players can do their jobs.
Braz -I ended up getting a trade done for buzz which I really liked. It’s all about maintaining at this point. So I’ll take it
hf - Nah wanted to full rebuild but some deals fell through. Still love Dick and Tom and think both will be great.
autumn harold : No! But sorta glad it didn’t. With max cap, I thought I had a good chance to build around Nelson, Mendenhall, and Luke, but I was really banking on adding a top tier talent, which isn’t a plan. Pivoting to get my pick feels right. I don’t know how bad we’re gonna be we unless I can deal Mike, but I’ll have a lotto and big cap either way, so it’s cool.
3. What projections do you have for the upcoming season regarding your team?
Go Niners : As far as expectations go, 50+ wins. Won 48 last year, like this team better with Buzz over Kojis. Woody for an entire season, LaRusso going up to A- rebounding. I like it.
Braz - Going for broke again. Should continue to get harder every year but I think we certainly have another shot.
hf - Hopefully we can get 50 wins and a reset.
autumn harold : I’ll say 28 wins. If I move Mike, I think we can get in the teens because we have zero depth and are so bad at PG, but won’t be able to crack that bottom tier as is.
4. KC Jones, Bill Russell, Lenny Wilkens, Buzz Wilkinson and Don Nelson were traded this offseason. Rank the situations of the receiving teams post trade (Teams: Wiz, Nuggets, Suns, Celtics, Knicks)
Go Niners : If I were to rank players, it would be: Russell, Jones, Nelson, Wilkinson, Wilkens. If I were to rank situations post-trade:
1) Wilkens - Feel like he's the perfect piece for a really good Suns team that can be a real threat out West.
2) Nelson - Obviously Bellamy is amazing, Nelson is the perfect compliment. Love the move GM of the Knicks made to add Don. Having had Don, I can tell you he is a beautiful player.
3) Wilkinson - I'm biased. I think him and Brown are a dangerous backcourt and our frontcourt defense is going to be scary. Dude did 27 PPG on a team with Guy/Jack. Elite at steals. Sure I gave up a locked up young player for him BUT again, my window is 2-3 years so I want to strike while the iron is hot.
4) Russell - I don't think Denver can tank with him BUT he's obviously an amazing building block. It was a great move by the Nuggets to get him but they need to get some talent around him ASAP to improve their situation.
5) Jones - Everyone is talking about the Wizards reset and I look at the roster and I don't see it. I don't get how they are better than the Bucks were last season. Obviously KC is amazing but he alone isn't going to reset.
Braz -well I think Lenny and Buzz improve teams that were already good. So suns 1 Celtics 2. Kc is needed to be a savior in Washington but still not an amazing situation. Royal has nothing outside of Bill. Will take time.
hf - Suns easily is the best. Have a good young core and Lenny fits right in. Then the Knicks, with Bellamy already. Celtics because I like Brown/buzz and their front court. Then the Nuggets because they have Bill and some picks. And lastly is Wizards. Hopefully they reset but the future doesn’t look good.
autumn harold : 1) Suns—Havlicek + DD; 2) Knicks—Bellamy + Nelson; 3) Celts—bad value but quality team and good value on the roster; 4) Nuggets—have Bill and their picks, but feels like they’re gonna reset with 44 wins and then deal Bill; 5) Wizards—GOAT PG, WOAT core.
5. Hal Greer is still a Chicago Bull. Does he get traded this year and if so, what does he go for?
Go Niners : It's tough to trade him because he is an elite player in his prime. My question is, who has the assets that is willing to pay the price? He's so good, I think Chicago is best off building a team around him.
Braz -no, at this point unless Play is offered a top prospect he’d be better seeing through the retool around Hal and trading for vets. But I assume that’s a decision for next yr
hf - Nah he won’t get traded because people won’t offer enough. He’s an elite player and still at a good age.
autumn harold : Nah. Man’s 29 and just averaged 40. Play will put together another good team around him. The stuff that got floated for him was totally uninteresting in any event.
6. Was there a trade that happened in the offseason that you look differently now post TC (ex. You liked it before but hate it now).
Go Niners : Kojis going up to B+ inside (from B-) is annoying but I doubt that would've happened if he was on my roster. Honestly, can't think of anything in particular. I guess post-TC, Ira Harge looks nice so moving him alone to remove a Top 3 protection from a pick is bleh especially since Pistons haven't made any other moves to bottom out at the moment.
Braz -Kojis did well in tc. Didn’t expect that. Makes it far worse for ahsan
hf - No. The only one is the Raptors Celtics which I hated for Ahsan and now I hate it even more now after TC.
autumn harold : This is a great question to ask in general because of how often trades get disproportionate reactions that no one would stand by a season later. People said Chipper CY’d himself dealing Willie Naulls for Jack Twyman! As for this offseason,
7. Are the Raptors still the favorites?
Go Niners : Until dethroned, they are the favorites. That being said - the Hawks, Grizzlies, Heat, Cavs should continue to pose great threats. That Hawks roster is scary tbh.
Braz - we are until we arent!
hf - Yes, getting Kojis just extended their window a few years. Great move by Braz.
autumn harold : Yes. I don’t even see another contender, as odd as that is to say. I like the Spurs and Grizz in the West, don’t give anyone else in the East a chance.
8. Was this one of the most boring FA periods?
Go Niners : Honestly can't think of anything eventful happening. So I would have to say yes.
Braz - if have to say. Even on day 3 I didn’t have anyone worth my MlE and only a few LLes
hf - It was interesting. Usually FAs without stars still have a lot of great role players. Wasn’t really the case this year.
autumn harold : Was worse than boring for me but setting that aside, yeah, it was paper thin and nothing interesting happened.
9. Who’s next in the line to be CY’d?
Go Niners : I do love the guy, think he's hilarious BUT it's Break. I don't understand what his scheme is, I don't think he has the personnel to reset and feel like he rushed into it by trading for KC and not doing much else. I hope he makes it but time will tell.
Braz -just gunna guess break
hf - Might be Break lol he doesn’t have a front court at all
autumn harold : Break. Zero chance he resets this year unless he adds major frontcourt talentS. May have navigate KC Jones’s free agency, which is a recipe for disaster. I don’t think he has the talent or assets to pull of a reset. Not sure who else is in any danger. Marty I think is fine.
10. Any Halloween plans?
Go Niners : Nah
Braz - might host a Halloween shindig with my close friends
hf - Not yet but probably going to keep it chill with everything that’s going on.
autumn harold : yeah! It’s my bday weekend. We have family on both sides coming in so gonna take a day or two off work and chill. As for Halloween itself, gonna take the kids trick or treating. My daughter wants to be one of the light-up cars from Cars. Son’s gonna be Elmo because he’s obsessed with him.
Go Niners : I don't know anything about this guy except that he is new to FBB. I honestly do feel like it's best for him to deal Wilt, find a way to get his picks back plus additional youth and assets. Rebuild and start from scratch.
