1. With Sam Jones, are the Celtics the new favorites to come out of the East?
Galo - I personally don't think so. I didn't like the makeup of the team and still think the Raptors are the team to beat in the East. There's a only a few teams that can dethrone them and don't think the C's are one of them. I think Ahsan has done a pretty good job since he's come back (aside from the Don Nelson deal) but don't think Sam puts them over the edge right now.
RexLuthor - I like Jones a lot. Complete player, but I don't know if that's enough to get them out of the East. You have the defending champion in Toronto still at full strength, Hawks whom they're playing right now and they have a good team with a lot of depth, Bulls with Hal or Knicks with Bellamy. I'm not saying they don't have a chance but I won't call them the favorites. Shit until some other team proves me wrong otherwise the Raptors are still the favorite in my eyes
Braz - they certainly can be but I hope we can make the finals st least one more time. They don’t really have much better than the hawks last year.
2. Wizards are 7-13 with KC out/hurt in game. What are their chances to make a run with a healthy KC?
Galo - They'll have to take out Toronto which is a tough ask. Even if KC outplays Rodgers, the Raps have advantages at SG and SF. I put their chances at 10% right now.
RexLuthor As much as I think KC is a stud, he's not enough for those boys up in the North. Guy, Jack, and Koji are the big three. Then you have the bigs with Krebs & a surprising Tyra both during 3 blocks per. They both seem like they know their role and playing it very well. Its going to take KC dropping 50 per game to knock of this dynasty
Braz - - no chances on a run but happy they reset. And he resigned so that’s good
3. The Kings and Clippers have been the hottest teams going into the playoffs. Who’s more likely to make the finals?
Galo - Probably the Kings out of these two. I like their team balance more than the Clippers. I still think either one will have a tough time with the Spurs but give me Sactown.
RexLuthor These two GMs are top tier. This is a tough one. Neither team has any injuries going into the playoffs. At first glance I would have to say Kings, but it seems like Clippers have the better route. Clippers matchup better against the Grizz than the Kings matchup against the Rockets. If Kings can get pass the 30 point man in Rochelle then I see them having a better chance but if not the The Clips might make that push for the finals.
Braz - - I’d say the kings have the makings of a great team but a few years too early. We know played don’t really develop till TC but you’d think they are much better than start of year.
4. The Rockets made some moves at the deadline. What’s their ceiling?
Galo - I think Broph is just enjoying the ride and having fun. He'll probably get a decent return for Rochelle than hand the keys to Somerset. I think they are headed for rebuild/retool - so high side maybe 42 wins next season?
RexLuthor I talked a bit about the Rockets above but at that time I didn't realize they traded for Lee. I seen the Mendenhall trade with the Jazz but didn't know he then filpped him for Lee. I like Lee a lot. Pairing him with Rochelle makes me like this team even more. Kings might have a long day with this team. Rockets and Kings have to get pass each other. I can see the Rockets going to the WCF if they can pull the upset off in the first round.
Braz - - Brophs been middling for a bit but these trade fell into his lap and I’d say they are top 3 in the conference. He has a little simmage to get the perfect DC as well.
5. Looking at the lower seeds, who can make a deep playoff run?
Galo - Probably the Warriors in the West and the Hawks in the East. Both are very underrated - DBW got fucked with injuries again. Stool is still a rookie to BBS but Wilt is still Wilt so you never know.
RexLuthor Rockets. I'm giving Houston a lot of love here but that RochelleLee combo coming in hot!
Braz - - not sure if you count the cavs as a lower seed but I like that team a lot still.
6. Looking at resignings, what are your thoughts on this upcoming FA?
Galo - Might be some movement. Lots of teams will have a cap and I think there's at least two teams in CY next season. Gus and Chet seem to be the prominent names to target.
RexLuthor Chet!?! Why have you forsaking me!?! 87 loyalty means nothing to you!?!
Braz - - few gems so not as weak as a few yrs ago but a lot of really good players resigned. Hope that means more big trade opportunities.
7. Assuming the top 3 stay as is (Nets, Lakers, Sonics) how should the draft go?
Galo - The Nets and Lakers really need to stay in the 1-2 range with their situations. Sonics could jump though. I could see the top 5 being Bing, Frazier, Barnett, Hudson and Snyder in some order. If the Knicks win lotto, they'll take Clyde.
RexLuthor Well first of all, I hope it doesn't stay that way but if I had to choose an order it would go
1. Sweet Lou
2. D.Bing
3. Mr. Walter Frazier
Braz - - let’s go with Bing Lou Frazier
8. Who’s the most interesting player in this draft?
Galo - There's a few but how about Cazzie Russell? Has the 4th highest inside scoring rating right now in the file along with elite handles and jumpshot. But a poor 3PT shot and strength rating? Solid quickness and some stocks? Idk curious to see where he lands in the lotto - I think he's top 10 maybe in the 6 to 10 range.
RexLuthor Red Robbins and Lonnie Lynn both looks interesting. Don't want to give away too much sauce
Braz - - Bing certainly looks the best.
9. Who’s the biggest name(s) that will be traded this offseason?
Galo - Maybe Play will finally cash in Greer? He has 2 seasons left on his contract and its well known Play doesn't like to do second maxes. I think he'll explore the market and see if there's a good deal out there.
RexLuthor Walt Bellamy
Braz - - walt Bellamy for Frazier calling it.
10. What’s an ideal weekend for you?
Galo - Some great AM Golf with the boys with drinks. Followed by a nice boozy brunch. Than just relax and watch college football the rest of the day. Next day, sleep in and watch NFL all day with some brunch and take out dinner.
RexLuthor Mid 70s with a light breeze and some sunlight. A little wake and bake then going out to have some brunch in the early afternoon then coming back catching up on some shows with a nap in between then Sunday is football Sunday so just let me chill and watch my J. E. T. S. Jets! Jets! Jets! get a win.
Braz - - now that I got a puppy I’ll be home more. So some football on Sunday maybe dinner out once with my fiancée and some good relaxing
Galo - I personally don't think so. I didn't like the makeup of the team and still think the Raptors are the team to beat in the East.
