2049 Top 25 Mock Draft
#1 LA Lakers - Earl Monroe SG 6'3'' 185 23 C+ B+ C+ B- C A
Notes: Elite handling and quickness. Good jumpshot, 3 point shot and perimeter defense.
Analysis – Earl ‘The Pearl’ Monroe is the easy pick here at No. 1. Even with the upcoming CY, I don’t see Outlawz trading this pick if it lands at the top and he can secure Monroe. There are questions on if Monroe can play point guard but right now he’s not eligible. Right now, he’s coming in as a undersized SG but should be a top rookie from day 1.
#2 Portland Trail Blazers - Clem Haskins SG 6'3'' 195 24 B B B C C B
Notes: Elite inside scorer. Solid jumpshot, handles and quickness. Solid 3PT Shot.
Analysis – Haskins looks like he can be an A-/A- scorer at his peak if you camp if early and he develops. Coming in at 24 with C Defense and B scouted potential are the only knocks I see on him currently. You hope his defense comes around as you know he’s not get you a ton of stocks but he should be a top line starter if his offense is elite as billed. I like Haskins over Walker, Daniels, Dampier and Jones at this point just given his starting ratings.
#3 Chicago Bulls – Mel Daniels C 6'9'' 220 23 B C C- C+ B+ A
Notes: Good rebounding, inside scoring and jumpshot. Solid handles, blocks and post defense.
Analysis – Daniels is the perfect big to start this Bulls rebuild – if he can pair him next to Clyde Lee. Probably will be an A-/A big if camped early and you think the upside has to be there. I think Daniels will be a top 4 pick in some fashion but I like him here at 3.
#4 New York Knicks – Louie Dampier PG 6'0'' 170 23 B- B- B- B- C B
Notes: Elite quickness. Good inside scoring and jumpshot. Solid steals and handles.
Analysis - Dampier looks very nice to start off. You know he’s going to have volume with elite quickness and good inside scoring grades. He has solid steals and will be able to handle the ball. Another guy that you hope he has higher potential than his B scouted but can be a very good PG in this league. That being said, the Knicks are armed with three top 10 projected lotto picks – if Mike jumps and wins lotto, he’ll obviously take Pearl but then you could see him taking shots at former Knicks like Riley or Jackson with the latter picks as well.
#5 Golden State Warriors - Jimmy Jones PG 6'4'' 188 22 A- C B- C+ C B
Notes: Elite inside scoring and quickness. Good jumpshot. Solid steals. Poor 3PT Shot.
Analysis – A run of point guards here and there’s still Adelman left. Jones looks like a much more polished Al Attles to me. He’s going to have solid handles and he’s going to have volume. He’s perfect for the all the balanced offenses right now in BBS which seems to be a fad. Not your classic point guard but Jones has a chance to be a top 10-15 point guard at his peak with his elite inside and quickness.
#6 Detroit Pistons - Bob Rule C 6'9'' 220 23 B C C B B B
Notes: Good inside scorer, jumpshooter and rebounder. Solid handles and post defense. Some stocks.
Analysis – Rule is the best big in the draft after Daniels and don’t see him slipping past 7 – you could even argue taking him higher if you need a center. Great starting base for a big man – seems very easy to camp and if he has above average potential, you should be cooking with gas. I like Rule and he should be a very solid big.
#7 Seattle Sonics - Rick Adelman PG 6'1'' 175 21 C B B B D+ B
Notes: Good jumpshot, handles and quickness. Solid steals and perimeter defense.
Analysis – We all remember Adelman as the coach of those Kings’ teams that got hosed in the early 2000’s by the Lakers. He was a very solid point guard before his coaching career per these ratings as well. He looks like he’ll project as an A-/A-/A- type point guard in his prime with decent to good volume depending on his development.
#8 New Orleans Hornets- Trooper Washington PF 6'7'' 215 23 B D+ C- C+ B+ B
Notes: Elite inside scoring, post defense and strength. Good handling and rebounding. Poor blocks. Mediocre jumper.
Analysis – This man is a trooper literally – you can tell by his name. I like the undersized big from Cheyney. He’s coming in with elite inside, post defense and strength grades along with handles and rebounds. Personally, I don’t like bigs that can’t stock so think he’s behind Daniels and Rule and slightly ahead of Jackson due to his elite grades and rebounding.
#9 New York Knicks (from 76ers) - Phil Jackson PF 6'8'' 220 22 B C C- B+ C+ B
Notes: Good inside scoring, handling, quickness and jump shooting. Solid stocks and post defense.
Analysis – The Zenmaster checks in here at No. 9 and guessing the Knicks would gladly take him if he’s there. I see Phil as a strong big in this league – Spence obviously respected Jordan’s Bulls and there’s no 90’s championships in Chicago without Phil. I don’t see the guy who used to tap Jerry Buss’ daughter on the regular dropping past the top 10.
#10 New York Knicks (from Wizards) - Pat Riley SG 6'4'' 205 22 B- C B- B+ C B
Notes: Elite handling and quickness. Good inside scoring and jumpshot. Solid stocks.
Analysis – Riles comes in with very interesting attributes. I think he stays in the top 10-13 range but don’t see how effective he can bet at SG with a mediocre 3PT shot at best at his peak. I can see him being a top 6th man type playing backup 1-3 with his elite handling, quickness and solid stocks. Just don’t know how he’ll do as a starter in an outside offense.
#11 Detroit Pistons (from Nets) – Jimmy Walker SG 6'3'' 195 23 C+ B C+ C+ C A
Notes: Elite quickness. Good jumpshot. Solid inside scoring, handles and steals. Mediocre 3PT Shot.
Analysis – I have a feeling that Walker’s better under the hood than his starting ratings. Definitely another guy you need to camp right away. He’s got the 2nd highest scouted potential in the file – I think he’ll be solid player at his peak. But, he’s got a mediocre 3PT shot right now which for a SG knocks him out of the top 10 for me.
#12 Seattle Sonics (from Jazz) - Greg Smith SF 6'5'' 195 20 C B+ C B+ C A
Notes: Good jumpshot, 3 point shot, handles, blocks and steals.
Analysis – Smith dropped out of the top 10 for his mediocre volume grade but he still has really good ratings for a 20 year old. You hope he ends up better than Vince Brewer who came in with similar ratings and never panned out to be an effective wing. That being said, I don’t think you can pass on Smith at this point in the lotto.
#13 Houston Rockets - Mike Riordan SG 6'4'' 200 22 C+ B+ C B C B
Notes: Good jumpshot and quickness. Solid 3 point shot, handles and steals.
Analysis – Good starting SG base for Riordan – looks like a 3&D guy. I think he’ll fly a little under the radar because there’s some other wings that look more exciting. But he might be a solid backup wing at worse at the end of the day. Played with Jimmy Walker at Providence so you never know.
#14 New Orleans Hornets (from Raptors) - Plummer Lott SF 6'5'' 210 22 C B- C+ B+ C B
Notes: Elite jumpshot and ball handling. Solid steals and quickness.
Analysis – This Plummer will have a job in BBS soon. Decent starting base for a wing – you hope you can Lott to C+ or better boards. Probably a 5th starter type if he develops and has potential. Looks like his inside is on the lower end but maybe he can be saved with camps.
#15 LA Lakers (from Magic)- Byron Beck C 6'9'' 225 22 C+ C C- B- B- B
Notes: Elite jumpshot. Good handles and post defense. Solid rebounder. Poor Blocks. Poor Quicknesss.
Analysis- Another big with poor blocks and quickness. He has an elite jumper which might be useless if he can play SF but maybe he can play backup 3-5? He should be able to get to B+/A- type big with good shooting splits – should be a useful player at the end of lotto.
#16 New Orleans Hornets (from Cavs)- George Carter SF 6'4'' 210 23 B- C+ C- A- C+ B
Notes: Good jumpshot, handles and quickness. Solid post defense and strength. Some Stocks.
Analysis – Mr. Carter comes in with some solid ratings to start. Should be a nice role player and 3rd highest defensive rating right now. He’ll be able to get you some stocks and maybe can put up enough volume to be a 5th starter.
#17 Dallas Mavericks – Sam Smith SF 6'7'' 230 23 B- C C+ A- C+ B
Notes: Good handling and quickness. Solid inside scoring, stocks and post defense.
Analysis- ‘Oh won’t you stay with me? Cause you’re all I need?’ Will this Sam Smith be all you need? Probably not but looks like a bulky wing with some nice attributes. With a slightly worse outside grade than Carter, I like Sam here in the mid-1st round selection.
#18 Seattle Sonics (from Timberwolves) - Dale Schlueter C 6'10'' 225 22 C C- C- B B+ B
Notes: Good post defense, rebounding and strength. Poor Blocks. Solid Handles.
Analysis – Another big with poor stocks. But Dale has all the makings of a nice backup big with good post D, rebounding and strength along with solid handles. Seems like an easy mid-round pick that could go even higher based on need.
#19 – Indiana Pacers - Craig Raymond C 6'11'' 235 22 C+ D+ C- B- B B
Notes: Good strength, solid rebounder and post defender. Mediocre handles. Mediocre Blocks.
Analysis – Staying on the backup big train here with Craig Raymond. Another guy that’s similar to Schlueter but not as polished. Maybe will get some more stocks but the handles aren’t as good.
#20 – LA Lakers (from Kings)- Al Tucker PF 6'8'' 190 24 C+ C- C- B C+ B
Notes: Elite post defense. Good stocks. Solid inside scoring and jumpshot. Mediocre strength.
Analysis- Tucker seems like an enigma – an undersized big man with mid strength with good stocks and elite post defense. Does this translate to being a BBS starter? Probably not but maybe a useful role player at the end of the day – especially if he has stocks. I’m thinking a Lavelle Langston is possible here.
#21 LA Clippers - Bob Netolicky PF 6'9'' 220 25 B- C C- C+ B- B
Notes: Good jumpshot and post defense. Solid rebounder, inside scorer and ball handler.
Analysis – Um neat name, Netolicky? Horned as Orlando Magic Johnson would say. Anyway, seems like Bob can maybe be a project at SF if everything else checks out. Seems like he might have some volume so it’s worth a shot.
#22 Indiana Pacers (from Heat)- Gary Gregor PF 6'7'' 225 22 C+ C- C B B- B
Notes: Solid rebounder, jumpshot and ball handler.
Analysis – An undersized big with decent starting ratings and maybe can be camped into something. Any relation to old BBS GMGreggor from Dallas? Probably not.
#23 Milwaukee Bucks - Sonny Dove PF 6'7'' 198 22 C+ C+ C C+ C+ A
Notes: Solid jumpshot and quickness. Some stocks. Mediocre rebounder.
Analysis – Up there with one of the best names in the draft – definitely sounds like Sunny Day if you Sonny Dove in a weird way. Anyway, I can see Andy taking a chance on a guy like this and hoping he pans out. It’s the big risk-reward guy at the end of the draft.
#24 New Jersey Nets (from Grizzlies) - Roderick McDonald SF 6'6'' 205 22 C+ C+ C- A- C+ B
Notes: Solid inside scoring, jumpshot and handles. Some stocks.
Analysis- Greeme loves defense and especially defensive focused wings. Well, how about the best defender in the file and some good stocks and inside scoring, jumper and handles to boot? You’re welcome, Gabe.
#25 Chicago Bulls - Joe Allen PF 6'6'' 225 20 B+ C- D+ C C+ B
Notes: Elite inside scorer. Mid otherwise. Mediocre Jumping. Solid Strength.
Analysis – Allen is a little interesting figure especially if you’re running an inside or balanced offense. He’s going to legit be 85+ inside with mid jumping and solid strength. If you slide him to SF, maybe there’s something there and he can be a starter for you at some point. He’s probably not a Tony ‘Bones’ Davis type steal but maybe he can be good enough to start in his peak.

#10 New York Knicks (from Wizards) - Pat Riley SG 6'4'' 205 22 B- C B- B+ C B
