Well, here goes nothing. Thanks to these guys for participating!
1. The last few seasons, we've seen a few GMs "retire" and then are back within a season or two. What is it about this place that keeps everyone coming back for more?
Braz - well this game is really addictive. We have a 20+ person community and fun really never stops.
Dream's Team - BBS is like a drug. It’s too addicting.
greeme - It gives you a break from real life. Sometimes real life overwhelms us and we take a step back but then we need the break from real life and come back.
nybombers3 - It's something different. I know for me, FBB is not something I do anymore so being here brings back memories. Plus the people are interesting to be with on the boards,
2. The Raptors just ended what looks like the greatest run in this version of BBS that we've seen by 4-peating. Out of all their great players- which one was the most important to their titles?
Braz- Guy Rodgers won all the MVPs, but I think the most important was definitely Jack, because he gave me the rebounding advantage
CC- Guy Rodgers for sure. Guy is simply amazing.
Greeme- Krebs. Gotta have the dominant defensive/rebounding big to succeed. Everything else is easier to replace. Then Twyman for the rebounding. Major advantage to have an A- sf.
Andy- Guy. He's a beast for sure but it also helped that they got him for essentially nothing much. It was a nice trade for braz then and he became the big piece for the Raps.
3. The draft we just had was very fun. What player OTHER than Earl Monroe and Mel Daniels do you think ended up with the best fit amongst their new team?
Braz- I really like the guy the bulls got and if play traded down from 1 I assume he does too. I also like rule and smith. Sucking up to ya a bit chip EDITOR'S NOTE- I'll take it
CC- Jimmy Walker looks good. I think pairing him with Bing gives Chicago a nice backcourt duo in the future. Bulls are known to developing great guards as well.
Greeme- I think Adelman. He has egan in front of him for the next few years but when they want to win the Hornets will need a pg that can play d.
Andy- Jimmy Walker I think. He's with a GM that will make sure he's camped and can always pull a 4th AC when need be.
4. One thing I've noticed over the seasons is that before TC, GMs will move a player to a different position to get a TC that benefits the ratings at said position- is this something you guys do, and have you personally seen success with this method? I've seen other teams do it but I've never had the guts to try it myself.
Braz- I’ve done it a bunch but with little success. Mainly between SF and Pf if I am unsure how a guy will develop. I assume being at a big would give more boards and strength. Wings shooting etc.
CC- Not something I’ve tried out either. Didn’t realize it benefits some players. I may have to try it out one of these seasons.
Greeme- Not unless I'm planning on playing him there. If you take a sg or sf and plan to play him at pf it makes sense to move him there for tc just to help his blks and boards. Sometimes I will move guys if I have too many at 1 position. Not really sure it does anything though.
Andy- I haven't messed with it a lot myself. I do know it's done because you want certain players to improve in more specific spots. I think the most often done ones are between SF and PF/C. A player like Jim Fox or Red Robbins are examples of this. I think the change benefited both players, most obviously RR.
5. What "great" player in this league do you see that everyone else seems to love but you think to yourself "nah, he's not that great, idk why everyone's always acting like he's good"?
Braz- Hal Greer. I mean he’s obviously great but he’s a sub par rebounder and got Marty cyd. Play got Bing for him and now the value fell off a cliff a year later. I always thought guy was better
CC- Maybe someone like Johnny Egan? Dude is a sick scorer and shooter but his C defense is a huge turnoff. No matter how great he is he will never be able to shut down opposing guards when games matter the most.
Greeme- Jerry sloan maybe? I'm not sure if anybody besides kobe likes him though. Solid backup but if you are going to punt offense from sf then you have to have the scorers and he shoots way too much for his offensive true fg%
Andy- Insert any C- and lower rebounding PG with high shooting. Just so many of them that I don't really a difference between them. I mean yes, some steal better. Some play better D I think they are all about the same.
6. breakthewalls has placed a high value on Doug Moe. I personally think he's way overpaid and he needs to dump the contract, but maybe I'm wrong. What's your opinion of Doug Moe?
Braz- Originally awful deal but now he’s a very solid player. Problem is break lacks around Moe. Doug Moe isn’t your top guy lol
CC- Never cared about him tbh. Don’t see anything special about him. You’ve said it. Overpaid. No one else will touch that contract.
Greeme- If Break places a high value on him is that the kiss of death? He is a tweener that shouldn't start. If he is cheap I like him for depth.
Andy- I mean, I had him and dumped him. He's solid but don't think he should have a ton of value. Break should hold onto him at this point because his value is iffy and he needs to win.
7. So unless they reset this upcoming season, the teams in CY next season are the Pacers, Pistons, and Blazers. Do you think all 3 reset, and the ones that you don't- what moves do you think they need to make to get to that magical mark of 42?
Braz- Pistons in the most trouble. Pacers need bigs and have the assets. Blazers made the right trades this year.
CC- I think all 3 have a chance to make it out but the East is tough as hell. I give Portland the higher odds to succeed due to the west being weak all the time. They’ve added Wilkins for pennies and one or 2 more bold moves will for sure make them a lock for 42 atleast. Meanwhile it will be a grind for the East teams.
Greeme- Blazers make it easy. It is rare that 1 team in a conference doesn't make it though it could happen. Pacers or pistons should get my pick to make sure that I tank. Pacers are in a great position. 4 really good young players. Need a pg and a big and depth. Chico is not the answer. If they don't make it this year they end up with more help from the draft. Pistons look like they are in trouble. It seems like they have a team of backups. Maybe tc will be kind and change that. They also have a ton of young guys who just take up roster spots and cap. should start dumping them.
Andy- I think Pacers reset. Blazers should, especially with their last move. I don't think the Pistons will reset but that's not the worst thing. They need to tank again and get some more big time talent.
8. Gonna give you a choice on this question- you can either make your predictions on where Jacob DeGrom and Aaron Judge end up in free agency, or you can tell me who you think is winning the Israeli Premier League since we're halfway through that season.
Braz- Jake to Texas and Judge back to Yankees
CC- Unfortunately I don’t follow baseball or the IPL so I cannot answer this question.
Greeme- basketball - Maccabi Tel Aviv. They almost always win. Soccer – Maccabi Haifa
Andy- Judge back to the Yankees. I think the Yankees are going to be held by the balls. Can't really let him go off to SF or anywhere else really.
DeGrom I think goes to Texas. I think the Mets want him back and he's a beast when healthy but he's just not healthy. Last 3 seasons he's started 11, 15 and 12 games. Paying 40 Mil+ for that would be wild.
