Well this was a very anticipated FA class. How often to do you see all 3 top 3 picks test FA? Unfortunately for us it ended up being rather boring but I need an AC so let's dive in. (RIP to my draft article I lost this AM)
Super Sonics Sign SF Rick Barry for $115,500,000 over 7 years.
Analysis- Barry was the clear cut top player in this draft and went 1. Barry has not brought any disappointment to the Sonics in the slightest. He has become one of the best players in the entire league in just a few seasons and helped push Seattle to the WCF this past season. This was an obvious max and Seattle is fortunate to not lose him. They drafted Willie Norwood but even with Lou Hudson being a complete stud Barry would have been hard to replace.
Pacers Sign SF Billy Cunningham for $115,500,000 over 7 years.
Analysis- Similar to Barry, Billy is a franchise player. Was the obvious 2 pick in the draft but fell to 3 and has been the heart and soul of Stryo's Pacers. Once can argue that Billy is equal or better than Rick at this point. The dude has the prettiest letter ratings on the file IMO and plays like Jack Twyman. This max was obvious and the Pacers are blessed he has returned, despite being pretty good on the wings.
Raptors Sign PF Bill Bradley for $115,500,000 over 7 years.
Analysis- The Raptors risked it for the buscuit letting Bill test knowing he would get multiple maxes, mainly for the hope of adding another star to the team. We sent maxes to the top 4 guys on this article and at least got Bradley back. Bradley a Knick is loved here by the GM but has been forced to take a bit of a back seat to Connie Hawkins who signed last year and is just so much better. Bill is likely worth this max but its could definately backfire toward the end. The man doesnt really shoot well and is best suited for balanced offense, not everyone's cup of tea.
Timberwolves Sign PF Bailey Howell for $81,845,703 over 4 years.
Analysis- This is a great signing that will definitely be turned right into assets. Maybe bradley signed first but I offered a 5 year max! CC was fortunate to have the option for a higher starting base and a 4 year deal on a 32 year old won't scare GMs away as much as that typical 6-7 year max. CC was smart to do this and if he lost him whatever he is rebuilding. With a lot of teams interested in a stud like Howell I wonder where he ends up
Grizzlies Sign SG Tony Jackson for $21,611,493 over 2 years.
Analysis- I actually liked Tony Jackson when I was looking at the Bucks roster. The Grizz had the cap but I am not sure how many others bid on Tony. Seems like a fair value contract for an A outside scorer who shoots a very strong 47%. I assume this guy will get better but why no 3 year to get birds? Ideally I would have offered 24/3 but all is well in the world of Skillz
Suns Sign PG Em Bryant for $6,000,000 over one year.
Analysis- Andrew is likely going to tank. Em has been solid so he might get a late first for the guy. Worst case he cant tank and can try to put something together around his two studs and not worry about PG.
Hornets Sign SF Cincinnatus Powell for $115,500,000 over 7 years.
Analysis- It's interesting how open we have been on the boards! John holds nothing back saying he will draft George Johnson and later he said he was maxing Cinci (as it is his own home town). So based on that post alone it seemed that Jah's hidden gem wasn't as much of a secret as he thought. Jah adjusted his bid to a Max and I would not be surprised if he utilized his pot boost on the man now that he has returned. Cincinnatus is a pretty cool player who I think still has a lot more room to grow despite being 27.
Rockets Sign PG Willie Somerset for $40,500,000 over 3 years.
Analysis- I like this but also do not at the same time. Will Willie be a trade candidate or will he be the highest paid back up 1/2 in the league after the Rockets took JoJo. I offered for Willie but was not that committed on him and clearly that was the same as it seems no one gave a 5 year deal. All that being said you can't deny that he is a 30 point scorer with sub 2 TOs.
Grizzlies Sign PF John Rambo for $13,800,000 over 3 years.
Analysis- Skillz pretty much used his cap perfectly to avoid the big fish but net out roster depth. Rambo is stocks positive and per 36 pretty good. Good stuff Skillz

Mavericks Sign SG Hershell West for $8,000,000 over one year.
Analysis- Originally thought this was a filler but West looks kinda solid. Maybe someone Bundy didnt even know he was losing. In very small sample size he shoots 51/93/42 splits. Why not.
Warriors Sign SG Hal Lear for $16,800,000 over one year.
Analysis- Proud of stool. He needed a filler and unlike rex figured out how to do it.
Nets Sign SF John Fairchild for $4,500,000 over one year.
Analysis- Average player who greeme will demand a first for. Pretty letter ratings I guess
Jazz Sign C Lyle Harger for $2,455,406 over one year.
Jazz Sign SF Warren Isaac for $5,000,000 over one year.
Analysis- The Jazz still do not have a pick and the moves were limited. Marty brings back a big who can board and hit FTs at a decent rate. Idk much about Warren Issac but likely will be a filler of some sort as Marty does his magic to salvage this season in Utah.
Lakers Sign SF Gene Brown for $1,500,000 over one year.
Lakers Sign SF Dick Maile for $1,000,000 over one year.
Analysis- Lakers get their bids in just in time. Some depth fodder for outlawz. Not much to see here.
Timberwolves Sign C Bob Ferry for $1,200,000 over one year.
Analysis- The most desired waiver claim in the history of BBS takes an 1.2 Mil deal with a team thats about to rebuild. He will surely be shipped out.
Hornets Sign SG Lennie Rosenbluth for $14,000,000 over one year.
Analysis- Filler for the Egan trade back...nothing to see here.
