In honor of Janes Addictions, Been Caught Stealing, who had the best steal in FA?
nybombers3 - I like the Clippers signings. Very solid stuff. Getting two big shot blockers on day 2 is nice. Tony Jax was another good one from skillz.Dream's Team - Clipper signing Wolves Champ Gene Gorilla. They could either compete with him or trade him for an asset. Blocks and boards are valuable.
the original michael - Did anyone worthwhile even change teams? I don’t think so. I’m saying no one. I guess you can say Berry and Cunningham returning are “steals”. Both are superstars.
Braz - I think the guys skillz got was the only players to really move with much impact.
Pick one was a given, how did you have 2-5 laid out?
nybombers3 - I think about the same. Bob would likely go 3 and move everyone else down one. Don't think anyone was really wild though.Dream's Team - Went as expected like my mock lotto.
the original michael - I had Gar 2, Pete 3, Bingo 4, Dandridge 5. I think Gar will be a stud big here. But I have been wrong before. Who knows.
Braz - For me it was really team dependent. If lac had 2 gar would be two. It all made sense for me but the magic trade out.
Royal is usually the one that wins or goes home with trades, how did he get out skillzed? AKA what did you think of the trade for pistol pete.
nybombers3 - I think it's fine. Getting Pistol for his old guys is solid value. It's the or a bunch of whatever sstuff.i would always take the one stud.Dream's Team - Basically Bill/Gus for Pistol. Not a bad swap for a rebuild
the original michael - I don’t think he out out skillzed. He wanted a name brand young stud to build around and he got that. He was going to have to overpay. I get the move for him.
Braz - I obviously loved this for Royal bc he can start a full rebuild around a top 2 pick. I did that but Bradley isn’t half as good as pistol will be
Who got the most egregious contract in FA?
nybombers3 - I mean its obviously Bill Bradley. I get it though. Braz didn't want to let him go so that was the price. He was signing a max deal either way.Dream's Team - A lot of folks say Bill Bradley. Production is meh but there are worse deals I think. He’s very young so he could have a nice tc and prove the doubters wrong.
the original michael - Cincinnati guy and Bradley were a big of head scratchers to me. I didn’t bud on either.
Braz - Powell did get the +15 and Bradley has A potential, but both need a good TC to be saved and be worth it. Both teams can afford to over pay but sometimes it’s worth it to let those guys go. I guess the 6/7 yr on bill ain’t sexy but he will be fine.
What was the reach pick of the draft? Was really loking at the lotto, but open to anyone.
nybombers3 - Walk and Jones I thought went higher then either should've.
Dream's Team - Neal Walk was a surprise. Wasn’t on any of the mock lottos. Jah did some scouting on the side though so I’m sure Walk will explode now.
the original michael - Neal Walk probably. Looks meh. Not sure about him. Was better players on the board. Jah is usually a solid drafter though so I’m probably wrong.
Braz - When Jah made his pick I felt that could have been it but he had good justifications.
Who was the hidden gem of the FA class you wanted?
nybombers3 - Booz was cool but I did want Gene. Figured he would have nice value as a big shot blocker.Dream's Team - Didn't have any in mind.
the original michael - I said it a few times but Wali Jones. Love the way he developed the last few TCs. Would have been the ideal backup 1/2 for me. Bummed I didn’t get him for the 1 year max (around 11.5mil)
Braz - I wasn’t looking for a hidden gem as much as just trying to catch a big fish. Woulda liked to get a cheap vet Pg but maybe the MlE Will come through
Which picks of the late lotto 9-13 has the best chance of being the steal of the draft? Or did the Steal come later?
nybombers3 - Steve Mix. Thats the answer right? He'll get his rebounding camps by next tc. Hopefully his potential kicks in also.Dream's Team - Fred Carter looks like a steal based off his notes and ratings. I thought he’d go earlier. At 14? Great value pick.
the original michael - George Johnson with the Clippers. Former Warrior. Led the league in blocks. Just needs rebounding camps and a solid TC.
Braz - going to say wise for sure! I loved that he has solid base ratings and high pot pre camps. Greeme getting Fred also is a big steal!
And finally, the only non-draft/FA question, how is Stool and the GSW shaping up in their CY year? Do they make it?
nybombers3 - He'll be fine. Getting Bill was huge for hhim.has a solid overall roster.Dream's Team - Adding Bill Russell should push them to the playoffs. They almost made it last year.
the original michael - He will be fine. Probably looking at a top 5 seed tbh depending on TC. Like his wings and now he has Bill to go w Jasper. Solid team.
Braz - I was thinking his main issue was needing blocks. He would have reset last yr if he traded for Gene or another blocker. Getting Bill is the best type of big for them and I feel he has a few young guys to cash in as needed.
