1. With a solid portion of the West rebuilding or at least getting worse, are the Mavs and Rockets currently safe?

autumn harold : Both are safe. Actually like that Mavs roster a good amount if they can get a scorer at SG. Rockets are decent but may need to start Somerset at PG to get the offense going.

RexLuthor : I believe both teams should make it. The West is really bad at the moment. Like you said in the question a good amount of teams are tanking in the west so they will be safe


Lasagna and tears of failure : I'd have to look at preseason more, but I saw Broph ask who is who at one point for the west contenders and it was a shortlist, including us the 2 CY teams. I think the west is gonna feature at least two sub 500 teams in the playoffs, so it should be an easy reset in the West.

2. Are the additions of Lucas and Bailey enough for the Bucks to reset considering how strong the East has become?

autumn harold : I think it's gonna be close unless they can acquire a frontcourt upgrade and move Bailey to SG. Great duo, also like Combs and Caldwell, but they're mediocre at PG and lack frontcourt depth. I think there are only 9 teams competing in the East, so they could scratch out 42 even if they don't make the playoffs.

RexLuthor : Honestly I thought it was. They should be fine but that first sim gave me some pause. 1-7 for that team is really bad. Not sure what DC they were running but they are too talented to start out with a 1-7 record. Hopefully they do figure it out soon because the East is tougher than the west at this moment.


Lasagna and tears of failure : The East is looking to be the East again for Strenght of Schedule, no longer is there Break and Marty to make the East easier. That said Andy is Andy, no chance he doesn't reset. They are probably enough, but if not, he'll figure something out.

3. Wilt and Kareem are now together. Will this core win the Celtics a title?

autumn harold : They look great, but I would guess not. There are sick teams at the top of the East, a bunch of which have the frontcourts to average 20+ bpg against the inside offense in a playoff series. This is the first time it really seems like the inside offense has a chance to win, but I think the shotblocking of Miami, NY, and Toronto will neutralize the inside offense.

RexLuthor : Elite!! When you make a trade to put KAJ & Wilt on the same squad you expect to win a championship. While they should be contenders I don’t think they bring it home. Not enough depth on the team to go against some of the heavy hitters but I have been wrong before.


Lasagna and tears of failure : WTF when did this happen? Good for Ashan. If Wilt and KAJ cant do it now, Wilt is a bust for ever being on a team with the stips.

4. What are your thoughts on the CY currently? Should it remain as is or should it get tweaked?

autumn harold : It's great. It's been an effective anti-tanking measure for the entire league history, which is a bigger issue than the fact that active guys occasionally lose their teams and then end up somewhere new in a few weeks.

RexLuthor : I started my piece on this before but I’ll say it here. CY is needed if there is a waitlist if there’s no list there’s really no need for CY as is. If we were to tweak it we should probably do more of a penalty Something along the lines of how HC is set up. I feel like the HC is actually worst that being in your contract year so we could follow that blueprint


Lasagna and tears of failure : Tweaked. It just allows the vultures to pick the corpses for teams panicking to stay. The wait list is nil and some of us that are barely active are still more active than a few. Make it 5 or 6 seasons so you can do a true rebuild, and or based on activity.

5. What would you consider the most questionable move of the offseason?

autumn harold : I guess the Thurmond deal but I don't have a great handle on what moves were made this offseason. Skillz made a solid pick at 7 and flipped the Kings pick for value, but I'd much rather have Thurmond.

RexLuthor : Jim Barnett 5 years, 6,500,000 , max in crease.

6. We saw two FA additions this past offseason. Would you like more? Should they be announced more in advance or was the timing fine?

autumn harold : I'm cool with whatever Spence does if it's just a couple of guys. The no notes thing is fun because it adds a risk factor. Probably should've announced them a day earlier or whatever but no big deal dropping them last minute imo. If it's gonna be a superstar type I guess teams should have enough notice to make moves to have cap.

RexLuthor : I like it. It adds a different dynamic and can help rebuilding teams with cap space. There aren’t too many players that switch teams during the off season. Doesn’t happen as frequently. I also like how some players didn’t come out amazing for example Dino. Giving him time to develop if camped correctly or he could actually just be a bust

7. Aside from a player on your team, who’s the most underrated player in the league?

autumn harold : Bill Bridges. Flown under the radar his whole career, but he's much better than some of the bigger name bigs out there right now. He's about as good as it gets in terms of shotblocking/rebs, has elite handles and midrange, and has fairly high volume on pretty good shooting. Take my max this offseason?

RexLuthor : Most underrated? I don’t really know if there’s correct answers but I’ll say the guy I was trying to get for a couple of seasons Bob Weiss. I know he lost his starting position to a guy named Herm but he still produces. Bundy should probably put him on the block because there are teams that should could use him plus he’s fairly young.

8. Is there any fix for the trade market, especially when it comes to older players?

autumn harold : There would need to be more pressure to compete to restore the market for older players. The CY is pretty much the only way we force conservative GMs to be aggressive. I guess an alternative would be cap/contract rules that keep contracts in check, e.g., reducing the max number of years players can sign for, but overall I think the landscape won't change much.

RexLuthor : No nor do I believe someone should even attempt to fix it. Let GMs run there team how they see fit. You control the value of your own players.

9. Weekend plans?

autumn harold : Just got back from the Museum of American History. Yesterday went to Home Depot and then did some painting. Also looked at a few cars because we gotta get one. Saturday took my daughter to soccer. Now I need to ride the bike and take a shit.

RexLuthor : I actually went up to North Jersey to visit a friend on Friday then I drive back home Saturday night. I also seen Avatar 2 which I thought was pretty good. It was kind of long but I get it. It’s been 09 since the first one. I understand showing what happened between all the time. And Sunday I’m just watching some Playoff football. gather assets and shoot for 42, rather than take a few gambles, maybe accept a bad year without your pick to get better value. It leads to the same cycle for a lot of GM's

3 years to tank, anything beyond that puts you at the back end of the lotto.

It takes time to build a team and I hate seeing guys make panic moves and screwing the franchise over even more. Then we have to give freebie years for new guys to come in and take over a team
