Afternoon all,
In this latest edition of Footy's Powerpoll, I have collated the votes from 15 executives around the league and I have offered the opportunity to each of the top 10 to provide their thoughts on their team. Hope you enjoy!
1. Sacramento Kings (139 votes, 13 First Place Votes)
Record: 37-9
Last Ranking: 2
Ashes: I'm really happy with my squad right now. Nash/Iverson is a sick duo. I think Iverson is the second best SG in the league right now and he's really thriving right now. Nash is a god as per usual. Ben Wallace is really insane also. I think we have like 3 top 10 players in the league currently and it puts us in a really strong position. Dong Reid emerging in place of Camby has been nice, and our depth is solid. Biggest weakness is rebounding, which Murphy helped, but I'd still like more. My team's turnovers are still low which is awesome and I think we can match-up very well with any team in the playoffs. Let's get it!
2. LA Lakers (123 votes, 1 FPV)
Record: 35-12
Last Ranking: 3
Nanz: First i would like to thank all of those who voted for the lake show, we owe everything to the fans. Things I like is our starting lineup... Kidd is nasty, Manu is playing like a top 10 player, Dirk Playing like a top 5 player, JO is nasty and Rado or Kemp are solid enough to complete the starting 5. Depth is okay but could improve. Either way we are ready to roll bababababababyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LAKESHOW
3. Miami Heat (105 votes)
Record: 36-11
Last Ranking: 9
Kobe: Was unable to be reached for comment.
4. New York Knicks (94 votes)
Record: 33-16
Last Ranking: 4
Skillz: I love everyone on our team like sons. We are a big happy family here in New York. As we always say, once a Knick, always a Knick! I like that we never turn the ball over and play good defense. I don't like that we get outrebounded fairly often. Big moves are always possible with us right now, but I'd be confident in this team heading into the playoffs. We are looking to repeat as champs and to have a shot at another title.
5. Toronto Raptors (78 votes)
Record: 31-13
Last Ranking: N/A
Game: When it’s comes to my team I love Tony Parker he is the best Pg in the league.I don’t really trust my team rebounding and if we have a bad shooting game could cost us.I do need to find a wing upgrade for reals though to Jrich he’s good but won’t take me to the next step.
6. Houston Rockets (61 votes)
Record: 26-20

Ahsan: The rebuild period is over and this is year one of actually competing. I made a lot of mistakes and didn't end up with much out of the rebuild but feel like I have rebounded nicely overall.
I love my core of Vince Carter (most underrated superstar in the league), Dimitris Diamantidis (funnest player) and Jerome Moiso (he's just so solid at everything). I feel like I had a strong offseason where I was able to maximize what I could get out of my assets and feel confident about this team contending in the long term. Always open to shaking things up but don't really see any reason to as I have yet to really get an offer for any of those three that I feel makes sense for me.
This team is fun. We score a lot, fairly strong on the boards but the lack of reliability at the point guard position and team defense is holding us back and will be this season.
I am realistic and do realize that we don't really have much of a shot at the title this season. The plan is to make the playoffs, retain Vince Carter and then build an actual team. I need a legitimate starting point guard bad and need more depth up front. In the offseason, I will likely give Vince Carter the godfather contract, sign expiring contracts and use those along with my 2007 1st to get a long-term point guard. Furthermore, use free-agency or the bargain bin trade market to add some depth up front. Feel like once I get all of those action items taken care of, I will have a good shot at actually competing.
7. San Antonio Spurs (50 votes)
Record: 29-18

John: Things I like: our blocks (MBENGA and ODOM) are swatting pros. Also our perimeter offense is pretty divine.
Things I dislike: peoples knees, also our rebounding differential is pretty average. I dont think we will get very far it I dont find one more big that can rebound.
LOOKING to improve by writing 3 ACs (pipe dream?) Mbenga could use +10 boards and Tmac could use handles or strength
8. LA Clippers (44 votes)
Record: 32-19
Last Ranking: 5
Frangie:
What I like - our rebounding, our top 3 players and Lynch
Dislike - pretty much everything else. Kandi has been a bit disappointing. Our defense has been bad despite starting an A+ and two A-s. And the PG position is a train wreck.
Need to improve - The PG position via trade and the defense via DC I guess.
9. Indiana Pacers (26 votes)
Record: 30-17
Last Ranking: 6
Sargo:
Things I like: our backcourt: we are thrilled with the play of Gilbert Arenas and Arvdyas. Both guys can score at elite levels and are still young.
Our starting front court looks solid with Joel Pryzbilla and Eddie Griffin. Neither player are stars, but both are solid defensively and on the boards.
Things I’m not crazy about: Our starting SF and depth. We’d like to acquire a more 3&D type SF in the off season. We need to improve our defense and steals.
10. Cleveland Cavaliers (22 votes)
Record: 28-16
Last Ranking: 1
Svedda:
What I like: We are 17-3 in our last 20 after giving up on trying to tank this season. We box out as a team and play top five level defense.
What I dislike: All the teams stuck in mediocrity afraid to give value for good players. Team still turns it over too much and could be more efficient on offense.
Looking forward: Hoping for a top 4 seed and a top 10 pick thanks to the Hawks. Will likely have some cap space as well. Want to tank next season though.
