1. How was your offseason gone thus far?
Go Niners - My best player retired after collapsinf in the finals up 2-0 during a 73 win season AND I got roasted to a crisp as a draft mod for autoing 2nd overall when the rules said to so I'd say it's been fucking terrific.
DeeperThanSims - Going well considering the trade climate. We have a lot of GMs that aren't active or don't trade so it really limits the possibilities here. I traded Jerry West and Wayne Hightower to the Spurs for their lotto and I drafted Larry Kenon. He's raw but I think that's acceptable at 20. Looks decent after his move to SF and the ACs. Hopefully he has good potential.
Royal - Really enjoyed this offseason, was able to keep Pistol, Cowens, Ollie, and add in Yates, Don Nelson, Rich Kirkland. Really like this team, should be fun.
2. While the East has no CY teams currently, who could be next to get CY’d in the East?
Go Niners - Tough one but I'd have to say Celtics. Once Kareem walks and Oscar retires, I'll be fucked. Window is closed, we are cooked.
DeeperThanSims - It'll be a while before we see an East team truly in danger of being CY'd. The Magic and 76ers were headed that way but are now reset because of the new GM hires. Cavs are in their 3rd year currently but obviously Svedda isn't getting CY'd. I can't even say Jah because he'll find a way to make the playoffs on 40 wins. Also the East GMs are just better overall. I guess I don't have an answer here lol.
Royal - I'm always going to say Jah, good dude just doesn't have the Activity level as everyone else.
3. What FA signing shocked you the most?
Go Niners - Peewee getting a max after regressing. Guess you can blame the Raptors system but eh he's just a point guard man.
DeeperThanSims - A lot of max money was thrown around but I sort of feel everything is fair. The name is the game is max your guy or lose them because someone else will, so I get it. I also think some of the guys who may not look worth it have been used incorrectly and will eventually be worth it... Looking at Herm Gilliam.
Royal - I didnt think Rich Franklin was max worthy, but I was stuck without a PG going into CY so getting him for a 1st was the move. He also had a very good TC. Hoping he can keep turnovers low.
4. With Wilt retiring, do the Celtics have a chance to go back to the finals?
Go Niners - Fuck nah lmao. Can't win with an MVP, Gene Gorilla ain't changing that.
DeeperThanSims - Nah. Losing Wilt to retirement is insurmountable. That's wild that he retired even after all of those potential resets. People seemed pretty sure that potential affected retirement timing so I believed it, but now I'm thinking it's just FBB randomness. One benefit of Wilt being gone is the Celtics can run outside now, but without any assets to make a meaningful trade, the Wizards and Pistons are definitely better.
Royal - There's always a chance with Kareem, but unfortunately his window open and closed faster than any team I've seen in a while. Sucks to suck.
5. Give me your way to early predictions for the ECF this season?
Go Niners - Easy, the 2 best teams are Pistons and Wizards, they are in a class of their own. Both teams run by highly intelligent and truly good human beings as well. I love them both a lot and wish them both the best of luck.
DeeperThanSims - Wizards and Pistons are the top 2 teams currently so I'll say them. The Nets could have something to say about this if they re-sign Keye. Also, I keep thinking it's over for the Raptors and then Braz finds a ridiculous deal or pulls out a random move like Willis Reed at SF so I can't count them out.
Royal - I think the Nets win the East, but the real competition will be Kobe and Sargo having a epic battle for 1st pick.
6. Which Eastern Conference team has the best outlook in your eyes for the next 5 seasons?
Go Niners - Probably the Cavs. Got a sick young core and Steve is good at finding talent and striking when the iron is hot. Second likely the Heat. Great GMs do great things.
DeeperThanSims - This has to be the Knicks right? They are drafting #1 during tank years frequently. Lanier and McAdoo is an amazing duo. I like their Derrek Dickey pick. I'll give out a shoutout to the Cavs too, Gilmore Haywood and Chones looks nice.
Royal - My buddy Sargo just got the 1st pick and has plenty of draft capital, 4 seasons from now he'll be back atop east.
7. Looking at the West, the Spurs and Nuggets are in CY. What do they need to lock their CY spot down?
Spurs need a lot. They have a lot of C+/B- pieces. Lacey I loved out of the draft but never developed rebounding like I thought. I think ashes will be fine though and make the moves needed.
Go Niners - Nuggets are a star away and they have the assets, Spurs I think make it after signing Charlton.
DeeperThanSims - Spurs locked in their PG in Jerry West and have Hightower who regularly gets 3 blocks off the bench. They have plenty of youth to make depth trades with. I think a good wing and another solid big would set them off. Nuggets have good youth but it seems they are holding on to them and they don't have anything to trade outside of that. Definitely need a good PG and PF and then they need to figure out depth.
Royal - I think we both did enough to make it. Shouldn't be a sweat.
8. In your opinion, who is the best player in BBS history? Or your favorite if you prefer.
Go Niners - Steph Curry is the best, titles don't lie. I prefer Oscar, the rebounding PG is just so cool.
DeeperThanSims - I joined when y'all were 26-27 seasons in so I missed a lot, but Anthony Edwards was that guy to me. I tried to trade for him for YEARS. I recognize he's not actually the best when you factor in all of the super rookies in the past 12 or so seasons. Just pick any of them. I'm partial to Elgin since he won me a title.
Royal - Man idk, I remember Tim Duncan, CP3, and Steph being ridiculous.
9. I don’t know if Lums is eventually coming back but I’ll add him anyways. Next open team. Marry, Fuck or Kill Marty, Break or Lums for the next team.
Go Niners - Kill Lums, fuck Break, marry Marty. Marty the coolest, Lums the most annoying, Break seems fun but wouldn't wanna be around him all the time.
DeeperThanSims - Ey yo! I'll say this… I would like all 3 to come back at some point. For the next opening I'd have to give it to Lums if he wants in. Dude is so active but with no team… feels strange.
Royal - Marry Break hes clueless, easy extra marital activities going down. Fuck as in non sexual, It's fuck Lumley. Killing Marty brings joy.
10. Tell me something interesting about yourself.
Go Niners - I used to do a lot of drugs back in the day. Really wanna try heroin before I die.
Planning to do it at age 70.
