BBS 2056 MOCK DRAFT
1. Toronto Raptors - Moses MaloneClear cut #1 pick here no matter who gets the pick. Malone has insane notes+ratings and comes in at 19 years old. Big time franchise player for whoever is lucky enough to land the first pick this year. Elite inside and strength with good blocks, steals, jumpshot and handles. Pretty much the perfect big man and he's only 19. Here's to jumping in the lotto!
2. Utah Jazz - World B Free
Might come down to need here since I could see one of the wings or Walton going here at #2 as well, but Jazz need everything so I'll go with the franchise PG. World looks like the next Frazier and at the very least a surefire stud at PG so that might be too good to pass up at 2. Like Moses, World pretty much had perfect notes for a PG. No weaknesses at all should be an excellent all around PG by his 2nd season.
3. Golden State Warriors - Billy Knight
I think Billy Knight could easily go #2 but since he has poor blocks I downgraded him one spot. But if Billy's rebounding gets to high B range then he will be better than World. A- A- C A- B type player is very possible. Has a great base for a young wing in the mold of Drew, Mickey of last draft. Raw young wing who needs to work on his 3 point shot and should have big pot. Warriors need a stud wing so perfect fit.
Not sure habes would take Walton here but Pistons need bigs and I think Walton's potential is too good to pass up. Didn't have the best notes but still has the making of an elite big especially if he's starting with real A pot. Camp his blocks and reboundings right away and hope for the best. He should still be a great big. He just looks meh next to Moses.
5. Memphis Grizzlies - Jamaal Wilkes
I think Wilkes should slot here in this draft. C outside wings are scary but after Mickey Johnson went from C to B- outside that will give people hope with wings like Wilkes especially since he should have big potential.. Because if outside does explode then he will be an amazing player cause he has everything else you want in a wing.
6. Milwaukee Bucks - Maurice Lucas
Not the biggest fan of Lucas but all he really needs is a good shot blocking TC and he'd be a stud. So I think the potential of what he could be and the Bucks needing a big will put him here. Should be a Zach Randolph type scorer and rebounder with the chance of 2+ bpg. Handles could be an issue but usually for a big it's not a big deal.
7. Atlanta Hawks - Phil Smith
Big fan of Phil Smith and his notes. He doesn't quite have the name value of the guys ahead of him though and only C reb limits his value a bit so I have the Hawks taking him here. Has the makings of an elite SG with elite quickness and good inside scoring, jump shot and handling. Should even be a very, very good defender as well. No weakness but only being a SG limits his potential some compared to others.
8. Detroit Pistons(from Orlando Magic) - Scott Wedman
Pistons might target a PG here but I'm gonna go best player available and I think Wedman is that guy here. Similar notes to Smith and has C+ rebounding. Love the defensive, rebounding and good handling base he's starting with. A little raw scoring wise but he just needs his camps and a solid TC and he should be ready to start and be a very good player immediately.
9. Phoenix Suns - Robert Wilson
Wilson came out of nowhere with great notes. He looks and sounds like Mike Mendenhall already with the handling. The perfect 2nd big if his rebounds develop. He'd be a perfect fit for the Suns here since they need another good young big next to George T. I think Wilson could go higher since he will be an immediate impact player if camped correctly right away.
10. Philadelphia 76ers - Jan Van Breda Kolff
I like JVBK a lot he is just hidden by some other really good wings but he has an amazing base to start with. Elite jumpshot, handling, quickness and solid steals, blocks, strength with C+ rebounding. Mediocre inside is the only issue but more than fixable with camps and a good TC. Looks like just a defensive type guy but I think he can be more than that. Great fit for Sixers as well.
11. Miami Heat - Gus Williams
I thought Gus' notes would be a little better but he still looks like a very nice PG and would probably go higher in most drafts. His C inside will hurt a bit since his volume will likely never be great but he will make up for that with his efficiency, rebounding and steals. I need a PG so Gus makes sense here even though there are some guys left who could be much better all around players.
12. San Antonio Spurs - Wardell Jackson
Jackson has some great notes for a C scouted player. Good inside, jumpshot, 3 pt shot and handles means he's gonna be a very good scorer if he gets his camps right away and has any kind of decent TC. B defense and C+ rebounding so he has the base to be a great wing. But the question will be how much potential does he have?
13. Miami Heat(from Sacramento Kings) - Len Elmore
Elmore is a nice guy and reminds me a lot of Kermit coming out but probably doesn't have the same kind of potential. Very good big man base to start with though it will just come down to him getting his camps right away just like Jackson. Elmore is already close to B+ rebounding and should reach A- defense rather easily. Very nice 2nd/3rd big.
