1. Memphis Grizzlies - Moses Malone*traded to Hawks
Obvious pick here. Moses had some of the best notes we've ever seen and only 19 with big potential. Franchise changing type player but for some reason the Grizzlies wanted to trade him immediately. They moved him to the Hawks for the 5th pick, Kermit Washington and 2 other firsts. The trade received a lot of criticism and rightfully so as while that would be good value for a lot of players, Malone is a future top 3-5 player in the league. Head scratcher for sure.
Draft Grade: A+ Trade Grade: D-

2. Toronto Raptors - World B Free
Fun name and great player. I think this is who I would've picked here because it's the safer pick but I think some guys behind him have bigger potential and will probably end up being more valuable. And there are other good PGs in this draft too. World should be a Frazier type PG though so hard to criticize the pick really. Had great notes, just needs his camps and a good TC now.
Draft Grade: B+

3. Utah Jazz - Billy Knight
I like this pick here for the Jazz. I would camp Billy's scoring right away but love his base and he should have big pot so he has time to develop. Close to B+ B- scoring already and has the makings of a great rebounding SF to start with B- boards. Outside camps and the right TCs and he will be more valuable than World because of the rebounding and positional value.
Draft Grade: A-
--------------------------------------------------------------
4. Golden State Warriors - Bill Walton
Good pick here and the right pick imo but I'm just not a fan of Walton even though he should have the highest potential in the file according to Broph. Had lackluster notes but he has the potential to still be a really good player obviously. Just needs camps and a little patience. Warriors will be in CY soon though so he can't take too long to develop.
Draft Grade: B-
--------------------------------------------------------------
5. Memphis Grizzlies (from Hawks) - Phil Smith
Big fan of Smith but not a big fan of him for Malone for the Grizzlies. Smith had great notes, some of the best we've seen from a pure SG in a while. He should be a DVA type player if he develops correctly. Hard to take him over Walton but I think Smith will be the better player and should be very good right away if he gets his camps.
Draft Grade: A-
--------------------------------------------------------------
6. Milwaukee Bucks - Jamaal Wilkes
Wilkes is too good to pass up here but I'm not sure he will be ready to contribute right away so the Bucks may have to end up trading him to win in their CY. It will all come down to whether or not his 3 point shot develops. If it does then he will be a top wing in the game. If it doesn't then he will just be a very, very good wing. Either way safe pick here.
Draft Grade: B
--------------------------------------------------------------
7. Miami Heat - Robert Wilson
Good pick.
--------------------------------------------------------------
8. Chicago Bulls - Scott Wedman
I'm a big fan of Wedman so I like this pick. Bulls already have a plethora of wings so not really sure what they plan on doing with him though. Another guy who needs his camps right away imo and who could be a big time contributor if he has a nice TC. Better defender and rebounder than Smith so if Wedman's scoring develops he could end up being a better player.
Draft Grade: A-
--------------------------------------------------------------
9. Detroit Pistons - Maurice Lucas
Good value pick here since Lucas should have high potential and had good notes. Mediocre blocks and handles isn't really what you want in a big man but he has everything else and just needs time to develop. Should become a very good all around big man if he has the right TCs. But TC can be cruel sometimes when it comes to blocks and handles.
Draft Grade: B
--------------------------------------------------------------
10. Miami Heat - Gus Williams
Good pick.
--------------------------------------------------------------
11. Phoenix Suns - Wardell Jackson
Good pick here but I think it all comes down to getting Wardell his camps right away and him having a good TC. If these C scouted guys don't get attention right away they seem to kind of fade away. But great base to start with for Jackson, he's close to Wedman but doesn't have the same potential. Hopefully john has the camps for him cause he could be nice right away.
Draft Grade: B
--------------------------------------------------------------
12. Los Angeles Lakers - Len Elmore
Solid pick here but nothing exciting. Elmore has a big name and had decent notes. All comes down to getting his camps and having a good TC. He is similar to Kermit but not sure he will have the potential. Worth taking a chance on at 12 though since he could become a very good all around big man. I just would have went with a prospect with more upside here.
Draft Grade: C
--------------------------------------------------------------
13. Chicago Bulls - Kim Hughes
Didn't like this pick at all here, didn't have Hughes on my radar but I guess he can be a good player with a few lucky TCs. Offense and rebounding not good enough to be picked here though. Thought there were better players that could help right away and players with more potential. Maybe the Bulls see something in him that I don't though
Draft Grade: D+
--------------------------------------------------------------
14. San Antonio Spurs - Earl Williams
Big fan of Earl here. Elite rebounding and strength. Just needs camps to his blocks and steals and he will be a good 2nd/3rd big type right away if he has any kind of positive TC. Lowest C scouted potential in the file might scare some people but TCs are random and he should have enough potential for one good TC at least. If not he's already a nice backup.
Draft Grade: B+
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
15. New Orleans Hornets - Jan Van Breda Kolff
Nice pick here for the Hornets as I think JVBK fell a bit from where I had him on my list. He has a great base for a wing. Just needs inside+strength camps and a good TC and he could be a really nice player. Should be a solid contributor right away if he gets camped but could end up not developing his offense if he doesn't get camped.
Draft Grade: A-
