The Current win/loss record for CY teams is 59-25. Meaning, 59 teams have made it and 25 have not. This is approximately a 70% win rate.
The best record for a CY team goes to the 2056 Miami Heat who went 63-19.
Speaking of 2056, the Bulls, Bucks and Heat had a combined record of 172-74, good for a .700 record and the best winning record for a CY group.
The worst combined record goes to the 2043 Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies, who had a 70-94 record, good for .430 record.
The most firings due to CY go to the original CY season (2003) and 2038 with 3 GM's missing CY.
In 2009 and 2045, 4 GM's made CY. 2045 is the most successful CY with all 4 GM's making it.
The CY began in 2003, with the Hawks, Magic and Sonics being the first on the block. With a combined record of 111-135 (.450), all three failed. The first successful CY came in 2004, with the Minnesota Timberwolves going 50-32.
The Knicks, Jazz and Kings have never been up for CY.
2000, 2001, 2002, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2027, 2031, 2034, 2035, 2037, 2041, 2047, 2053, 2059 have had no team in the CY.
The 2014 Nuggets (38-44) and 2023 Dallas Mavericks (39-43) are the only teams to make CY with a losing record. The 2039 Spurs and 2043 Celtics are the only teams to hit 41-41 in their CY. Neither made it. Both situations had royal (2014 Nuggets and 2039 Spurs) and beastly (2023 Mavs and 2043 Celtics) as GMs.
On a separate note and speaking of the Nuggets, the 2018 Nuggets have the worst record to ever reset, going 35-47.
The 2060 Denver Nuggets had the worst CY record, going 19-63.
The 2016 Lakers are the only team to win a title during CY.
Skillz, HF and Sargo are some of the more highly tenured GMs that have not had to face the CY. Galo and Mark, while not around as much as others, have not either. Habes is disqualified from this, as there was a time he was in CY every season. Sorry harold. If I'm missing any names, my bad. Let me know.
Rex and Game have the worst CY record for a GM with multiple CY attempts, both going 0-2.
