The HeatFlash Roundtable
Eduardo "HeatFlash" sent out this roundtable prior to the season starting. Unfortunately, he has been too busy to post it so he asked me to post it. I guess I'll take the AC and he can take an RC lmao.
hf : 1. Ok so TC just passed, how did your team do? Any surprises for you?
Go Niners : My team did ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Kareem and Greg amazing but y'all already knew that. Do need a #3, been a lot more difficult to find despite my creative efforts.
autumn harold : Pretty bad. Cooper regressing to C+ rebounding was rough. Jordan went +2 but I was hoping for improvement in his shooting. Kupchak regressed. Bunch of other young guys were flat. Knight had a solid TC and Billy Ray went +4, but overall pretty bad.
nybombers3 : It was whatever. Money looks about the same. Nobody did anything cool or exciting. Yeah. Same shit.
the original michael : Completely average. Meh all around. No one really blew up. Disappointed that Dawkins didn’t get to B+ boards. Happy that DJ went to B+ outside. From C to B+ in two TCs is big.
hf : 2. Let’s pick back up on TC, which team had the worst tc? Which team had the best? Is there any player you thought was gonna blow up?
Go Niners : It's difficult to say who had the worst. It's likely a mixed bag for most teams. I'm sure Denver is disappointed in their youth so I'll go with Denver. As far as best goes, Dennis Johnson on Knicks looks GOAT-tier, Dino on Lakers having B+ rebounding listed at SG is wild, a lot of nice ones. I was expecting my draftee, Rocky Smith, to blow up but dude is a tank commander. I got trolled by the weird ratings lmao, he really is just bad.
autumn harold : I didn’t look around that much. Saw the Spurs had an amazing TC. Mike Mitchell’s TC was disappointing but that’s good, Hawks could use a setback. I think you said you had a bad TC so let’s go with you. I had a good feeling about Billy Ray but can’t say I thought he’d blow up.
nybombers3 : Toronto had a rough one. I was between taking Johnson and Washington. Johnson looks solid for them. Tree had a rough looking TC. WBF might not hit. I liked Bo as well and he didn't hit either. Wiz and Hawks didn't do great either tbh. Best is Spurs. I mean, look at the roster.
the original michael : The Spurs had the best, easily. We sucked so I’ll go with us.
hf : 3. Which teams do you view as the winners of the offseason?
Go Niners : Feel like Washington and Detroit have both been having incredible offseasons. Capitalizing on teams rebuilding and picking up elite-level players. Gotta hand it to them.
autumn harold : Hmm. I feel like it was a pretty uneventful offseason. Bulls got Lanier on the cheap and I like Gus a lot. Also liked the Pacers offseason though. Barnes is a nice get. Wiz got Brian Taylor for a fifth so that worked out nicely for them. Hornets just got Riley for free. Good job all.
nybombers3 : I think the East. The Hawks took a step back and a lot of teams surprisingly improved. I don't think one team truly did that much better then the others.
the original michael : The Hawks. Again. They got a top pick again and will continue to be one of the best teams around.
hf : 4. Which teams do you view as the losers of the offseason?
Go Niners : The Celtics. Got fucked, whatever, life goes on.
autumn harold : Yeah, me. Thought I’d eat in the draft but in fact I did not eat. Jazz lost Barnes so that’s rough, but they have their pick and can just tear down now. A lot of teams seemed like they were trying to tear down but couldn’t get deals. Sonics, Mavs come to mind.
nybombers3 : I wanted to tank. I couldn't. I'm the fat dude chillin on the treadmill going at 2.2 speed and deciding if I want to add the incline or not but then deciding against it because I'm not ready for it. Then deciding that 2.2 speed is too much and low it to 2.
the original michael : There’s a lot… but I’ll go with the Knicks. We fell to 4 and missed out on Sikma who I wanted.
hf : 5. Bird and Magic are finally here. Will you be tanking for them? Who will have a better career?
Go Niners : I am not tanking for them. I feel like Spencer will make both players fun. Do think that Magic will be better due to PG-eligibility and triple-double threats.
autumn harold : I don’t have my pick but looks like I’m giving someone else a nice chance at them. Hard to say who will have a better TC before seeing ratings but let’s say Magic since I’m expecting very high rebounding at PG and that’s a huge leg up.
nybombers3 : Nope. Sadly. I think Magic will end up better. Always in the MVP race. Triple double guy. Even if those turnovers go up, he'll still be a stud.
the original michael : Yes. I’ll go with Magic. Both should be superstars right out of the gate.
hf : 6. Can anyone challenge the back to back champs Hawks this year?
Go Niners : Honestly don't see it. Hawks too good. Stacked everywhere, got younger. Love their roster.
autumn harold : No, not at all.
nybombers3 : I think they get knocked off. FBB is that way. I have a feeling about the Nets this year.
the original michael : No. Like I said earlier. They are just a hell of a team. I love that they keep retooling. The model for success is to sell high on your players.
hf : 7. Nuggets just advanced to the finals and it looks like they’ll most likely play the Heat. Did you have this matchup as a possibility? Who wins?
Go Niners : Did not see this matchup possible, both teams playing amazing. Honestly, it just feels like the Jimmy Butler year.
autumn harold : I picked Nuggets to make the finals this season in a roundtable so I’ll say yes to that. I always like the Heat but they looked so bad the last few months of the regular season that I definitely didn’t think they’d make a run. I’d love to see the Heat win but I’d guess Nuggets take it.
nybombers3 : Fuck no. I think the Nuggets win it.
the original michael : I’m going w the Heat. Trust Himmy. He’s a different animal in the playoffs.
hf : 8. Final thoughts on the Ahsan, Issel situation?
Go Niners : The fact is, I got screwed over. It's not an opinion, it's not me "playing the victim," it's a fucking fact. Multiple times, picks with continuous protection have been dealt, there is no rule against it. But I guess nobody gives a fuck. That's just what it is and I accept it for what it is. Whatever, I probably dodged a bullet keeping my top 5 pick. I've moved on but I do have the receipts and I do know who's real and who's fake. Not gonna call you and the others out here Eddy out of respect.
autumn harold : I’m glad it was vetoed but it didn’t matter much to me.
nybombers3 : It's tough but needed to be veto'd. You don't want someone else, or even the Celtics future GM if ahsan had to leave for whatever reason, owing a lotto pick before they even got started. Waste of a season and CY year.
the original michael : No comment on any ahsan related drama. Next question.
hf : 9. Drunk at 3AM, where are you going to eat?
Go Niners : Taco Bell was my go-to, cheap and exciting food.

nybombers3 : I'll just eat whatever BS I have. I used to love cheap pizza. I remember this place called croxleys back in the day. 10 cent wings on certain days. Amazing stuff. Had to wait outside for like an hour at least because it was small and packed but once you got in, it's a wrap. Wings all night.
