It was a positive when he got guys like Josh Smith and traded for Joe Johnson (I still think that was the right move from the Hawks end, even if it eventually led to the Thrashers getting sold and moved to Winnipeg- and YES this is honest-to-god a direct result of the Joe Johnson trade), but backfired spectacularly when he picked Marvin over Chris Paul AND Deron Williams. Imagine Chris Paul throwing lobs to Smith. We might have actually had a legitimate case to compete. |

I'm looking at some rosters now, those Hawks teams were kinda nice if I'm looking at names. Feels like they should have done more. Horford/Smith/Johnson/Teague is a nice core

Marvin was always "solid" but never grew into the talent he seemed to have in full. Paul being from NC would have been perfect for Atlanta, but they blew it.

That is solid group Completely forgot my boy RONDO got drafted that year Rudy Gay was looking he would be a superstar early on, I don't know what happened there.
