JR - Hello everybody and welcome to the first ever Hanging with JR, hosted by yours truly. Today we have a very special guest with us, Brianh, GM of the Boston Celtics. Welcome Brianh how are you doing on this fine evening?

JR - So, I'm new to this GM group, how long have you known this group of GMs and what is one thing I should know about this group in general? It seems like most of them know have known each other for a long time is that also the case?
Brianh - Most have known each other longer than I have known any. Numerous I first met in BBSBL3 which I joined in late 2014 or early 2015, and soon became my favorite sim league, over the others I was in. The group in general that I have been around are a fun bunch, and while there can be nonstop trolling, as far as I can tell, there has never been any real maliciousness with the trolling.
JR - Very well, are you in any other sims right now, doesnt have to be just FBB. If you are not in sims how long has it been since you have played in an FBB league and what brought you back?
Brianh - Never been in a FBB, but since I've been in many leagues with Spencer and he's been one of the nicest guys I've had the pleasure to be in a league with, when he posted he was starting what kobe, play, and a few others kept referencing he should start again, decided I had to see if it was the crack they seemed to think it was. Been in numerous ootp5 leagues and one ootp16, but currently only in HOFFBL and LBB other than here.
Covid-19 has seen a lot of reboots of FBB, lets hope when we are off quarantine it wasnt just a big waste of time.
JR - The league has had a huge start activity wise and this might've been the fastest creation draft I have ever been apart of. Do you credit this to the GMs just happy to have BBS back or is it because of the dreaded Covid?
Brianh - Both. While I think covid has helped some with people’s availability, the majority of the guys I know from bbsbl3 were spammers back then too. Those that have done this before I also think are starved to get it rolling again.
JR - Getting into the sim part of this interview, everybody has their own opinions, but how do you think you did this draft? Any guys you missed out on that you coveted?
Brianh - I did a shit show, rushed two picks, but I think the only true horrible whiff was whoever I selected in the 4th. After my 3rd pick, I spotted somebody I really wanted and thought I had a trade in place to get him, but regrettably balked when the cost for the trade went up. Was angling to try and get an early 4th when Play selected him. I say regrettably because I completely wasted the pick that I didn’t want to give up. First two picks were solid, and the PG with a couple RCs at 22 will be someone to run this team for a while. Even the 3rd Smith has a chance to become a solid player and is young enough to grow. The guys I really wanted going into the draft were Garnet and Pierce.
JR - So, what are your plans for your team moving forward? Are you looking to make a big move or wait to see how your team sims first? Also do you think trading will be slower because of the draft?
Brianh - These guys will trade the shit out of their teams, just for the fuck of it is my experience. My plans are to spam the forum for RCs and horde them to do a title run in 08 😊. In seriousness though, would love to get some of the players I was a fan of back during this time frame, as while it wasn’t the height of my NBA watching, I still was watching.
LeBron James is already coveted a sophomore in high school by most GMS around BBS.
JR - Since we are in the season 2000-2001, what player are you most exicted to join BBS in the future drafts ahead? Why are you so excited for this player?
Brianh - If my team sucks, I’ll be excited for 03, and hopes of James will be dancing in my head. I mean, while I don't think he's the goat, he is the goat if you look at 2010-2020. Getting him with AI and Bibby would make the Celtics INSANE in the MEMBRANE. Plug in two capable players at PF and C, and it would be banners from the rafters time all over again. The team could not be stopped, inside and outside they would dominate. James and AI are similar in their non stop hustle on defence, and can light it up from the perimeter or put the ball on the ground and get the ball to the rim off the dribble. Neither James or AI could be guarded by a single player, so as soon as help come, if from the inside, bibby will hit one of the bigs for an easy layup, or if the def drops down, Bibby is more than capable of draining outside shots that are uncontested. And that... that is what makes this GM drool about James.
JR - Now lets get your opinion on some other teams, who would you predict to win the west if you had to today? And why is that?
Brianh - Ashes with the Kings. He and I have never really crossed paths, I always seemed to show up right after his life got too busy for him and had left a league. But the respect and awe people had for him and his ability to dominate. This was reinforced by the article he just wrote. The attention to detail shown, and not half assing ANYTHING, has me convinced, the respect others had shown him in the past is deserved.
JR - Interesting prediction for the West, now who wins the East and the reasoning behind that if you dont mind.
Brianh - This is tougher, as there are a couple GMs here that I know are good at running teams. Gonna give Chicago the nod though, not so much for anything other than I’m still bitter he got the guy I was trying to land, so gonna pick him to set the bar high in hopes he doesn't achive lol.
JR - Now we have who will represent the East and West respectfully, who are you taking to take home the Larry O'Brien trophy at the end of the season? Why do you feel they will win it all?
Brianh - Fuck if I know, still learning the ropes here. I know who it wont be, it wont be erbes 😊
Brianh believes Duncan will be the MVP more often then the rest of the league.
JR - Sounds like we will not have ourselves a champion according to my man Brianh here. Now if we fast forwarded ten years from now, all hypothetical obviously, what player would you think would have the most MVP's in that span? Why do you feel they have an edge to winning the most MVP's?
Brianh - Tim Duncan cause he is a fucking beast. The team he is on will feed him the ball, he will score, and he will rebound with a vengeance.
JR - Alright for the last question of the day we will have a little fun, is there any GM you would like to call out today? And please don't hold back!!
Brianh - Sorry, there is no one I would call out. I’m happy to see the old faces from bbsbl and so far the new faces of people I’ve never known.
