Kudos to Jeb for getting John to add his 2008 1st to the Zo deal. I don’t know that a team with Crawford and TMac will need to rebuild anytime soon, but John has a hard cap nightmare on his hands—he’ll be at $75 million with five players on his roster when the offseason hits. That pick is a nice little ticket. Odom is a fine addition too. Jeb didn’t do much else, but his team’s decent enough to make the playoffs for the foreseeable future.Dallas Mavericks: A
Not gonna toot my own horn. I was able to keep everyone and put together a contender without sacrificing my future. Next!San Antonio Spurs: C+
Dealing for an aging superstar to get over the hump after a WCF exit is a good, aggressive move. The rest of the offseason was a flop, though, and the roster is probably too thin to compete. John’s been shopping Crawford in a 2 for 1, but I wonder if moving TMac is smarter. TMac sims well, but there’s a gap between his value and production, unlike with JC. Houston Rockets: B-
Ahsan had horrible luck, losing a top 10 piece in free agency. Reacquiring his '07 along with Macijauskus was a perfect use of VC, but that was half the work, and he didn't do the rest. This is year 1 of a rebuild, pick or not, and he needed (needs) to get value youth/picks for AK and Arvy. Otherwise it's a wasted year.
Denver Nuggets: F
A mess. Go get whatever youth and picks you can get for SJax, Grant, and LJ, and see if you can interest Andy or Mark in returning your picks. That's the play even if you can't intrigue them: a youth movement around Beno, Granger, whatever else you can get, and cap. No point bothering with competing this year.

Our man got healthier every day and is heading home. Needs to take Royal up on his offer of home health care. Marty A looks nice.Memphis Grizzlies: C
Jeff likes to troll about going slow/inside and reacquiring his players, but the joke’s on him. Needs to get Zydrunas off his roster and commit to the tank immediately. Contract year’s approaching, and Deron and Dwight will still be raw. He should be doing everything in his power to be in position to add LMA or Brandon Roy. He may think he can keep Z, tank, and compete with Z next year, but Z is good for wins Jeff can’t afford and can probably be had for an overpay in FA this season. This is a crisis! Nice draft though.Golden State Warriors: B
Just want to wonder aloud when the hell Marc Jackson became an A-/B/B- big. Wasn’t he recently a scrub filler? Congratulation to Marc. Manas had a fine offseason. He got Royal to bite on youth, exchanging a run of the mill wing for a superstar point guard. Nice draft selections with Blatche and Jack, too. He’s going to survive the CY having retained pretty good youth (Martin, Hinrich, Blatche in particular), but I think he left a bit of work on the table by not landing a quality center.Los Angeles Clippers: N/A
Not going to bother grading their offseason. Outlawz took over as the offseason began and evidently had a personal emergency. Excited he’s back and hope everything is OK.Los Angeles Lakers: B+
Went into the offseason with three FAs and kept all of them before landing a megastud in Wade. I thought the reaction to the deal was dumb. Wade’s going to be the best rebounding and defensive PG in BBS, and he’s over 85 inside and midrange already. Still has an AC and he’s on his rookie deal. We’re waiting for his volume to fill out; once it does, he’s going to be as good as it gets here. There’s no accountability in BBS punditry, though, so taking the short view on deals remains free and easy. I loved this one for Nanz.Phoenix Suns: C
Quiet offseason. I think the 6-1 start’s a mirage and a one-year retool is on the menu. Kmart and Manu should have huge value. I don’t blame Andrew for holding Pau. Flaws and all, he becomes extremely valuable if his lingering potential boosts his stocks. But it just seems to have put the Suns’ future in a holding pattern that’s yet to resolve. I say get creative or blow it up!Portland Trail Blazers: A
Nothing changed in Portland, and that was the play. This man gets an A for being my friend. He has an incredible backcourt. Remember, folks: the Blazers 07 is the ticket to Ricky Davis.Sacramento Kings: B-
They didn’t improve and they didn’t need to. Here’s hoping Ashes gets hardcapped maxing Milos and Kaman. Seattle Super Sonics: B+
Drafted the GOAT in CP3. B/B-/B+/A-/C/A at 19 = most valuable non-Kobe piece off the bat. Iggy’s TC was a disappointment, but Mark had the perfect approach, stealing a free agent and pairing him with an ’07 to get the best possible prospect out he could get out of it. Jason Maxiell and Hakeem Warrick both look like second round steals, and Mark now has several teams who should be ponying up to get their ‘07s back.
