Finding a Vaccine for COVID-19
A sit down with one of the league's most notorious General Managers, Royal aka ROYAL
SARGO: That's dope man. I've never been in a helicopter before. Not sure I ever will after what happened to that goat, Kobe Bryant (RIP). But anyways, thank you for your service and I mean it!
SARGO: Wow! Thanks for the shoutout Royal. I appreciate it.... Anyways, yeh I agree. Go Niners is the man and I'd love to knock back some beers and break balls with Ahsan. JR is the goat and my dude so I'd love to meet up and chill. The Culo Crew may need to meet up for a night out at a strip club!
SARGO: Awful choice picking the Bulls, but I understand it and can relate. Growing up in Southern CT, it was either NY or Boston sports. I chose NY for nearly everything (go yanks, knicks, rangers), but football, my dad loved the Pats. However, the Pats were supposed to move to Hartford, CT in the mid to late 90s (I think 98), but that fell through so fuck the Pats!!!! Instead, being 8-9 years old, I fell in love with the Tennessee Titans. Yep, the Titans. McNair and Eddie George were IT man. Loved everything about that team, the uniforms, players, and now I love NASHVILLE. But yah, life would have been easier if I was just a Pats fan...

SARGO: Royal, the conversations and memories will always be in your heart. Even if you are fired as a FBB General Manager. Never forget the good times and never forget to smile. Spite trading the Nuggets futures away is a sure fire way to ensure you aren't re-hired here and we would certainly hate to see that! I guess Topflight will be super active again once you're canned.
1. Welcome, Royal. Thank you for sitting down with me today. First and foremost, let everyone know a little more about the man who goes by "covid".
Royal: Ok, so you want to start off with a serious question ok I'll play your game. Royal Clark, I'm 32. I've been in the Navy for 12 years, and I'm station in San Diego. I'm a Aviation Mechanic, I've got experience on F-18s, C-40s, and H60 helicopters. This shit, is fun, easy, and get to travel the world!!!
SARGO: That's dope man. I've never been in a helicopter before. Not sure I ever will after what happened to that goat, Kobe Bryant (RIP). But anyways, thank you for your service and I mean it!
2. Believe it or not, you're an OG in the sim game. You've been doing sims for years. Do you remember your first one? What are some of your favorite FBB memories throughout the years?
Royal: My first one that I remember the most was XBL, miracle water FTW!!! My favorite ran league before BBS was NBA2k10 me and JR we're in that together, it was so long ago I don't remember if anyone else was there because at the time all I knew was him. Commish of that league was money though. My favorite FBB memories is the BTSL days. BTSL was a monster and true test of your tolerance levels. We would call each other every name in the book. It was good times.
SARGO: BTSL was it man. That league had a poor quality of GMs, but man, could the GMs in that league troll. Nothing was off limits. Literally. It's a good thing those boards are gone forever (I hope), because all of us would be cancelled. Biggie Brooks as simmer was the man, but the inmates ran the asylum there. Biggie didn't have the control that Spence has here.
3. Continuing this FBB talk, I know that you've hung out with some GMs here in real life - notably Ol’ Dirty Bastard and game . Other than those two guys, give me 5 GMs you'd like to sit back and crack a few beers with?
Royal: harold mark and I are scheduled for Tequila in the future so those two for sure. ashes is my brother in arms so I gotta chill with my man. AMac I would loveeee to hangout with his ass, so I can drag his bitch ass up and down that bar. Boy do I wanna beat the shit out of that man, but than again I start to think about what if he'll enjoy the ass whoopin so he can get some good narcotics for the pain. It pisses me off that he wants to die and is addicted to drugs cause you can't win!! Last would have to be hangout with Segata Sanshiro hands down my favorite GM here. Old man probably knows all about the brews!

4. The rest of the league may not know, but you're a HUGE Niners fan and a Bulls fan as well. Why the fuck are you a Bulls fan living in CA? How'd that happen.
Royal: Well I started watching sports at a very very young age, and my grandfather was a 49ers fan so I tagged along, but he wasn't a basketball fan much like me. I needed a team, and being a 5-6 year old I didn't realize what the fuck Golden State was or I would be a Warriors fan! And my older brother was a Lakers fan and I rivaled his ass so I refused to like Lakers, so I jumped on the Michael Jordan bandwagon. Lets just say it hasn't aged well.
SARGO: Awful choice picking the Bulls, but I understand it and can relate. Growing up in Southern CT, it was either NY or Boston sports. 5. Back to the Niners, can they win a Super Bowl this year? Will they win a Super Bowl?
Royal: Can they and will they are the same answer my man, yes!! Bringing back a talented roster. The pieces we lost, Buckner, Emanuel Sanders, Joe Staley, Matt Brieda, are replaced by Kinlaw, Aiyuk, Trent Richardson, and Jerrick Mckinnon. We have a healthy Trent Taylor, and Jaylen Hurd. Oh boy! Sucks Deebo got hurt, but we'll be ok. George Kittle is the best player in the NFC. Hands down!
SARGO: Ok, chill out, you're naming Trent Richardson. But I have to say, I love the Niners squad. That team is built to win games in the trenches. Solid Oline, dominate DLine. The only question mark is QB play. I'm not sold on Jimmy G. But time will tell.

6. What other hobbies do you have, aside from spending time with your wonderful family and your FBB family?
Royal: Gambling baby, you know me, I've been yearning for sports to be back, my daily routine is Work, Family and watching them parleys hit. Not much more hobbies to actually need, FBB and gambling are both full time duties. Biggest hit was a $500/5 teamer for $24K! remember it like it was yesterday!
SARGO: Ah, when that parlay hit it must have been a great feeling. As for me, I love spending time with my fam, friends and my best friend - my DOG. Love that dog more than most people. But yah, gambling is fun too!!

7. OK, enough chit-chat, let's get to BBS. The first few years, you built a great team. It was a roster constructed of mostly older players, but you contended. Give me your thoughts on where your team is at now.
Royal: My thoughts of my team now is the Looney Tunes, without Michael Jordan. I do not wish to comment further on this topic. Please respect my decision.
SARGO: Yah, good analogy. A bunch of shit players on that Denver Nuggets roster right now. This is not your best work at all. Then again, you could barely field a playoff team when you had the file in TopFlight and were simming. Stick to your day job, Royal!

8. Let's talk about this a little more, what is the plan now? How do you plan on improving the roster.
Royal: I'm only here so I don't get fined.
SARGO: This is a sure fire way to get a 3 or 4 on this article. Keep up with the small responses, sir!!! Don't complain when we have to sit on a 3 or 4 instead of a juicy 5. Anyways, since you were so short with your response, let me answer this for you. The goal should be the following: give up on this year and accumulate assets going forward. This draft sucks ass anyways. If you don't have your 2007 1st or 2008 1st (which I don't think you do), you should probably gather up whatever assets you may have to try and acquire them. The 2007 draft and 2008 draft are so elite. Don't fix this with a bandaid. You need surgery and you need it fast.

9. Do you have any regrets about your trades, notably the Allen Iverson - Al Jefferson trade? The original trade probably should have gone through. You may have to file a grievance with the league office.
Royal: Couldn't agree more. The league has had 15 trades similar to mine go through and its unfortunate, but it's whatever. Maybe a compensatory 06 lotto is in store for me! The second trade Al Jefferson, David Lee, and Marvin Lee for Allen Iverson wasn't bad either. Honestly none of my trades have been bad if you really look at them! It is what is and it is what it aint! We'll keep wheeling and dealing.
10. Let's talk Danny Granger. He looks like a good prospect. Is he the savior? The franchise?
Royal: He is the savior of mark franchise, not mine, but my man is too stubborn and doesn't want him! Danny Granger is a special talent, I would love to keep him, but it appears his tenure in Denver won't be very long at all.
SARGO: It appears Mark has his franchise savior already in Chris Paul. He also has Iggy, but Granger could make sense for him on the wing if he wants to accelerate the rebuild. If the trade is the first for Granger, it seems like a no brainer for the Seattle Sonics.

11. Let's change gears again, give me your favorite 5 GMs to talk trade with and why.
Royal: Favorite to talk with in order..
1. harold - Its almost a daily ritual now. We have meaningful talks.
2. CHUCK - Me and him usually present a trade in PM to one another and it gets done instatnly or takes awhile but the deal eventually gets worked out at mutual benefit.
3. mark - We just talk trade, don't trade, just talk, so its cool.
4. spence simp account - We have healthy discussions, than he'll disappear for a bit and see what his friends think of the deal and than comeback and say he wants to wait, and than well go through this a few times, i enjoy it though. The potential to help one anther is always there.
5. Segata Sanshiro - Nothing like trying to deal him shit and being countered with even more polished shit. Good times!
SARGO: The second half of this list sounds like shit GMs to talk trade with, but OK. I agree, Skillz and Habes always are eager to deal and know exactly what they want. greeme is like that for me as well. The man knows right away if a deal can get done.

12. Now, let's hear the worst 5 GMs to talk trade with.
Royal: 29. Go Niners - Hes last at everything really.
28. manasrai - He could've done my AI or Nash deal for far less very much sooner to help us both, but he waited and waited and waited for nothing!!!!
27. 2 years left - You can only be offered KVH so many times.
26. JR - He put in his Will I get Lebron so wouldn't mind being on the family discussion of whether to pull the plug or not.
25. Outlawz - I wrote you but still ain't callin'
, I left my cell, my pager, and my home phone at the bottom
, I sent two letters back in autumn, you must not-a got 'em
, There probably was a problem at the post office or somethin
, Sometimes I scribble addresses too sloppy when I jot 'em
SARGO: This list is 3/5th accurate for me. I waste my time when I talk to Manasrai or svedda. JR and Ahsan is usually easy work. They know right away if a deal will get done. Obviously, I don't know anything about Outlawz.

13. Pick one team from the crew formerly known as "Hue Crew" and swap squads with them. Who would it be and why?
Royal: Probably with the Pacers, seems like the fastest route to a CY to end this misery!
SARGO: Good answer sir. At least you'll get an extra season as being the Pacers GM rather than the Nuggets. You have some work to do in the tough Western Conference to avoid being CYd.
14. Are you afraid of getting CY'd?
Royal: I'm not afraid of the CY, I'm just afraid of the conversations with my friends that I've made here being lost. It'll hurt my soul. I'll be sure to trade all Nuggets other futures beforehand though so the next GM can get CYd too and I'll be back!!

15. Ok now let's flip it! Ask me some questions! Fire away!
ROYAL: Well this was supposed to be a interview and not a damn Q&A. We we're supposed to go back in forth. But thanks for the "interview" I have nothing to say to you. The questions you asked were boring as shit. I was ready to gun GMs but you didn't set me up properly!
SARGO: I don't see what is wrong with asking me a Q, considering you're answers were 3 worthy. You're making me do all of the dirty work here sir, but we are well over 2000 words so this should be good for a juicy 5. Lord knows that we both need it. And I deserve it for listening to you for the last hour!!!
