GM RANKINGS
#1
-JR-
BREAKDOWN: Utah Jazz GM JR, is the clear cut favorite for this position. My main dawg has made a early strong impression on both the forum and with his GM skills. Unlike most teams at the top of standings, JR was able to have a very strong draft getting Allen Houston and David Robinson as a base foundation, alwhile keeping his future picks intact. Most of you may not know this but JR's nickname around the FBB community is Guru. Although he first garnered this name in fantasy football, he was able to keep the name going by outsmarting his peers. Around the forum we don't see him getting involved in too much banter and he always has solid input.
#2
-AARON-
BREAKDOWN: Aaron as a GM, might be utter shit from a early outside perspective. He's built a mediocre team around Tracy McGrady, with a very raw Jermaine O'neal as his 2nd best player. This rankings however isn't about how good your team currently is though. Based off a few interactions with him on the board, I'm no fool and understand he is a leader of a pack here. Every time he makes a post I feel that their are three to four little sideline hoes quickly backing him up, and that is RESPECT. Kudos to you Geppetto.
#3
-SVEDDA-
BREAKDOWN: Svedda has come along way from the troll of the past. He might arguably be the most knowledgeable FBB GM in the league. He started over 10 years ago as a young teenager that everyone hated, and has matured into a respectable GM. On the boards he tends to acknowledge Kobe a little more than he should, but its hard to resist. I know. He has put together a very nice group of under performing guys in KG, Webber, KVH and LJ. He's really just a couple DC tweaks away from being where he wants to be. Without any assets left, its going to come down to the group he has now.
#4
-SARGO-
BREAKDOWN: Sargo has been all over the boards with quality post, and minimal spam. He came into the league not known and made some power moves to acquire Steve Nash and Elton Brand. Although his players aren't looking all to great early on, his team is still 7-2 and playing great basketball. Sargo is a GM who is always actively in trade talks looking for the next move to better his squad. He isn't easy to bargain with however and a lateral deal isn't for him, he tends to win most trades and will hold off until he gets what he wants.
#5
-GREEME-
BREAKDOWN: Greeme's team isn't playing all to well, but based off his early draft trades and how he's been managing his team he is high on my list. The fact that I haven't had much engagement with him he's earned my respect. Seems like one of the few mature GM's and hasn't been involved in any banter, that I have noticed. He currently has a crowded front court of really the same player, a non scoring defensive big. I'm really intrigued in his future moves and will be watching to see in fact he is deserving of this high ranking.
#6
-BRIANH-
BREAKDOWN: DAD! My man BrianH was a stranger just last week, but after plenty of conversation, he's a real down to earth guy. This high ranking doesn't so much have to do with his draft here, because outside Iverson it was pretty bad, but he's made a few statements about how he's dominating in his other leagues and no one offered to challenge that claim. He seems like a real respected member around here, and has been a positive force. Yesterday he posted the Hanging on a Saturday thread and posted a pic of himself to break the ice around here, and that shows how comfortable and confident he is in life.
#7
-INSANE/PLAY-
BREAKDOWN: Bulls played the draft insanely. Well done. He was able to find value in names you wouldn't expect to go in position they were drafted and its translating to early dominance. He's one of the rare teams currently getting double digits scoring out of every position. He has a very special scoring rookie in Courtney Alexander who despite his ratings is able to light it up. He hasn't unleashed him yet, but to be able to be 6-1 and have that in your back pocket is nice.
#8
-JOHN-
BREAKDOWN: Although I've never seen John win anything, he's always competing. This is my first time probably seeing him go with a real young squad and basically ride this thing to the dirt. Unlike other tankings teams that just drafted horrible, John made sure he stuck to the script and got as many rookies as possible. I'm fully confident in John's ability to win, but seeing Lamar Odom and his turnover issue may hamper any future plans if not corrected.
#9
-COVID-
BREAKDOWN: I ranked myself #9 because being able to have confidence to win after moving two players like KG and Cwebb in one deal takes a lot. Although the return was worth it, I was also able to find a couple steals really late in the draft. Shawn Bradley a 8th round pick, didn't get any minutes in Test Sim or Preseason, so I can't get too much credit, but being able to trust him with quality minutes and becoming the best defensive player in the league is huge. On the boards I'm not a follower and tend to do things that will entertain me here, rather than others.
#10
-SKILLZ-
BREAKDOWN: If Skillz would just stop tooting his own damn horn, I'd have him higher. His little comments like, "I don't want to start Bonzi cause I haven't seen these guys in 7-8 years and don't wanna dominate them" is absurd. Also his unnecessary paragraph long PMs trying to convince you that MJ is worth Shaq is exhausting. However, every move that he's made here has been a win, and his team is deemed by the majority as the favorite to win it all.
#11
-STEVE-
BREAKDOWN: Steve is another GM that is more on here because of his board presence. He seems to have the answers for every question I've asked. When commenting on the boards about players, his comments shows he really knows what to do, just isn't doing it. If Steve would learn what defense was he would've have to be so mediocre. Another team I will be following as the season goes along, because he's kind of a tweener team on the edge, of resetting CY early, or just tanking. Regardless he has my respect.
#12
-GALO-
BREAKDOWN: Galo was very methodical in his draft process and put together a very solid team. The duo of Penny and Hill is going to be deadly if he is able to find a DC that is friendly to Penny's skill set. Despite his bigs Vlade and Campbell under performing defensively he is sitting at 6-3. His biggest win of the season is a huge won, he wen't on the road and was able to beat the Nuggets, and collectively holding them to 85 points, only 21 for Shaq. I see Pistons as the 3 seed when playoffs come. Around the boards, I don't see much quality post from Galo. He likes to quote a lot, even his own post.
#13
-JAH-
BREAKDOWN: Wizards had a plan going into the draft and stuck to it. Their oldest player is 25 and youth includes the likes of Redd, Wally, Peja, Terry. Very solid group to start with and the tank is obvious. JAH will have his hands full with articles and RC's to get these guys all up to speed, but going this young that's something you plan for. Haven't had much talks with him on the boards, but it appears he's not much of a chatter anyways. Really hope for the sake of his team he gets his post count up, hate to see so much talent go to waste. Great draft bro.
#14
-JEB-
BREAKDOWN: I wanted to put Jeb in the dead center of the rankings because he is the only GM I have major questions for. I don't understand his draft and honestly believe his team is so bad, but he's sitting with a healthy record currently. He doesn't say much so I don't want to disrespect his abilities and slot him lower than he should be, so far the first edition rankings, this is where he'll be.
#15
-13ROCK-
BREAKDOWN: Sorry boss couldn't get you a Sonic's logo without messing up article flow. When you look at the West and how bad it is, then look at Sonics roster it really isn't all that bad, but its also not great. Paul Pierce playing worse than lot of third rounders is worrisome, but this could all be due to a lack of proper DC. I feel if Pierce plays to any near where he's supposed to be, Sonics have a shot at a 7-8 seed in playoffs. Haven't had the pleasure to chat with the GM yet, but I think his Pierce situation is tough.
#16
-ASHES-
BREAKDOWN: Ashes comes across as a smart dude, and is respected by all on boards. I really wanted him to be a lot higher on my list, but he has KOBE!! A Kobe led team should never be on the outside of playoffs looking in. I'm assuming he had plans to win, but picking #1 and then again at #58 is really tough. It's a hard thing to do, but getting max value for Kobe right now might be his best move. Obviously, waiting to see lotto results and getting a top 2 pick along with multiple assets might be his best case. It's just really tough to see Kobe go through this. Ashes has the highest potential to jump in my rankings.
#17
-KOBE-
BREAKDOWN: Has anyone had that neighbor growing up that no one could stand and was always around. Yea that's Kobe. He has to comment on every single post and at times you may catch him having a conversation with himself. Despite all the nonsense talk though I do get glimpses of someone that might know what he's doing living inside him, but than he goes on these rants trying to convince us that Kenny Thomas and Ricky Davis are franchise players. I'm just happy he finally saw what I was trying to tell him in Marbs and changed that avatar real quick. All in all, he has room to climb up this board fast, his activity here is awesome, and sets the pace for RCs.
#18
-LOSANGLIFE-
BREAKDOWN: Hawks GM, was johnny on the spot, when he needed him early on in the draft. He quickly made his draft choice of Steve Francis, which wasn't a bad pick when you look at the limited amount of point guards at the time. Francis is now looking like a promising version to be a modern day Russell Westbrook. He is averaging and impressive 20 7 8, despite 4 turnovers a game. These numbers could be a bit inflated due to his lack of talent, but who cares if he is able to +24 him after camps, he will have a stud. Outside the Francis pick he took a questionable pick in Stephen Jackson, who is looking really raw early on. From there his draft continued to go down hill.
#19
-PIG-
BREAKDOWN: Hornets put together really nice draft and got quality depth at all positions. He is a Jerry Stackhouse breakout away from really being a threat in East, and honestly deserves to be a lot higher on this list. The reason I have him here though is because like stated before this is a overall assessment of GMs, and my personal opinion, but I haven't really been able to get in the mind of Pig and really dissect his mindset on things. This was a difficult decision because I really like his team.
#20
-DARELL-
BREAKDOWN: From what I've seen Darell is a GM that speaks out the side of his neck. It's sad when your Co-GM gets respected and provides more of a contribution to league than you. He was gifted Tim Duncan, who by the way is an absolute monster here, and still is looking up at .500 early on. Not much else to say here.
#21
-ERBES-
BREAKDOWN: Erbes doesn't come across as a good GM by any means. Before the draft you got the sense he was making deals just to fulfill a level of ecstasy, just to have a trade posted. He did have a decent draft however, and not in the sense of talent but being able to acquire multiple 2nd and 3rd round picks. I don't think he has the roster to compete for any title quite yet, but having Jalen Rose and Brian Grant put up efficient numbers is nice. On the boards he comes across as a huge co-signer/cheerleader. Has many complaints and not many solutions.
#22
-MANAS-
BREAKDOWN: Had a very good sim one, but big picture this team isn't going to last 82 games at this rate. Billups and D Miles, aren't the options he needs next to Dirk if he wants to be respected as a legit contender. I do think moving them for a older more stable vet is the move if he really wants to make a run for it, but right now, hes kind of just in no mans land.
#23
-DAN-
BREAKDOWN: Blazers GM traded early and often and acquired as many assets as possible. I don't think he's a bad GM for being #23, but I do need to see a lot more out of him before I give him a fair judgement.
#24
-OTHER STEVE-
BREAKDOWN: Hands down the least talented Steve on the board. Rasheed Wallace is his best player and lacks efficiency. He doesn't really have a franchise player, but for his draft selection at 18 he got good value. Sheed's robin, Shard, is sadly dead already, due to his defense. Not a bad guy on the boards by any means, but its hard to ignore the fact he's trying to be Bob Knight and throwing random objects like chairs on the court to play basketball.
#25
-ANDREW-
BREAKDOWN: Andrew has been voted most likely to fail in his class. Horrible draft, and a mediocre Baron Davis will have this team at bottom of standings through CY. I don't know him so he may have tricks up his sleeve, but from what I've been seeing, its a pretty deep hill to climb out of. On the boards, he's been a chill dude, but even that can't compensate for the shit show in Phoenix. Hoping to see him climb the rankings in a couple season.
#26
-NANZ-
BREAKDOWN: Lakers GM is my early favorite for CY. He drafted young and is commited to the tank, but the young guys he drafted aren't going to be more than role players in this league. I'm predicting he will tank 3 years and than have to trade all his youth to attempt a CY save. Frustrating times in Los Angeles.
#27
-CAPER-
BREAKDOWN: I do not think Caper is a bad GM by any means, this is his first FBB league so he will surely climb his way up. The fact that hes above a 12 year FBB is an accomplishment. My advice to Caper is to keep asking as many questions as you can and absorb as much information as possible. You are already at a disadvantage so don't be afraid to ask. I got a open door if you need anything.
#28
-AHSAN-
BREAKDOWN: Oh boy!! Ahsan is now one of those GM's that is so bad that even when he's trying to win it appears as if he is tanking. He hasn't done a thing to benefit his team yet, and is trying to get away with tanking along with the other 13 tanking teams. On the boards he's kept a level head so far and has been a beneficial piece, but when you say things like Lebron isn't top 10 all time you lose all credibility in the basketball world. Good night, sweet prince.
#29
-BREAK-
BREAKDOWN: Break might be the Patrick Starfish of BBS, as a matter of fact hes the rock that Patrick lives under. Talks out his ass and has put together a team that is arguably the worse creation draft in FBB history. He didn't post a DC, and he's a obvious clown. Spencer stop wasting our time. #HireGame
#1
-JR-
BREAKDOWN: Utah Jazz GM JR, is the clear cut favorite for this position. My main dawg has made a early strong impression on both the forum and with his GM skills.
