1. Atlanta Hawks -- Brandon Roy SG 6'6'' 215 22 B B B+ C C B
First overall pick looks to be an easy one this year. Brandon Roy enters with B B scoring and can be camped up to B+ A- pre-TC if you are willing to put in the effort. Safest pick in the draft and he still has some potential to be a star guard, at least offensively. This draft does not look that great but Roy should be a solid second or third guy for whatever team he ends up on.
2. New Jersey Nets -- P.J. Tucker PF 6'5'' 245 21 C+ B C- B C+ A
If the Nets do end up making this pick I honestly am not sure who greeme would pick. He doesn't tank very often! Tucker has high C+ inside and B defense at PF so I'm sure he goes up to B+ or A- at SF. He has some very pretty ratings and with a +24 to his scoring could he potentially end up better than Roy? Scary to think about! If his notes are solid someone might even be crazy enough to draft him first overall. I do not recommend doing that.
3. Milwaukee Bucks -- LaMarcus Aldridge C 6'11'' 260 21 B C D+ C+ C+ A
Meh. Players like Aldridge just do not carry a lot of value around the league compared to real life. He should have a good jump shot and low turnovers which is nice. Rebounding and defense are not too far from B- each. He just reminds me a lot of Pau Gasol and we all know how he turned out. Will be interesting to see just how high or low his shot blocking is. I think it will be fine but he is a PF long-term not a C.
4. Denver Nuggets -- Kyle Lowry PG 6'0'' 196 20 B- B- C+ C C A
Don't love taking a PG this high but Lowry looks pretty good. The B- inside is lovely and the B- outside is good enough to make getting him to A- there easy. For some reason he has low C defense? Spencer still upset over the Finals? Not too worried about that though and his handling should be pretty solid as well. Not sure he can be a star but he should be a very solid starter for many years.
5. Indiana Pacers -- Rudy Gay SF 6'8'' 230 20 B- C+ C C+ C A
Another UConn boy for the Pacers! There is not a position they need less help at than SF but it is just hard to pass on the value here. Not a fan of Rondo and after that you enter role player territory. Rudy Gay is never bad in any league and he is likely just camps away from B B scoring. RIP Luol Deng! He might also have some shot blocking hidden under that C+ defense which is always nice. Would not surprise me if the Pacers did go for a big man instead I just feel like the draft drops off a bit after this pick.
6. Boston Celtics -- Rajon Rondo PG 6'1'' 186 20 C+ C B B+ C A
PG who is a small dip in TC away from C- outside. Nice. I only had a star PG myself for part of a season but I just hate having a role player at the position. Hopefully his handling is fine and you can pump the +24 into his scoring as a rookie and just hope for the best there. Boston is where he belongs, they deserve each other!
7. Toronto Raptors -- Paul Millsap PF 6'7'' 250 21 B- C C B- B B
Getting David West vibes from Millsap. A bit of a risk to bet on that without the Warriors connection though! Just like David, I would focus only on improving his defense and rebounding as long as he starts out showing around 1 bpg as a rookie. He fits the Raptors well and would replace the hole left by Eddie Griffin. Can see him going a few picks higher than this but no lower.
8. Memphis Grizzlies -- Louis Amundson PF 6'9'' 220 24 C+ D+ C- B B B
Huh? Weird. Lou Amundson looks to be a few camps away from B+ defense and has solid B rebounding as well. With the Grizzlies in their CY this is the obvious pick to make here. He looks like he can start from day one and may even end up A- A- as a rookie depending on how much you camp him. His ceiling is not much higher than that at especially at 24 but hard to complain about adding a solid fifth starter on a rookie deal.
9. Seattle Supersonics -- Lior Eliyahu SF 6'9'' 225 21 C+ B- A+ C C B
Would not surprise me if that A+ handling tricks someone into drafting him a lot higher than this. Resist the bait! Even if he does have great handling, the great passing as well is not a good thing. Notes are needed to know for sure of course but I am probably going to end up lower on him than most. Guess we will see!
10. Orlando Magic -- Andrea Bargnani C 7'0'' 245 21 B- B- D+ C C A
Can't lie, I am pretty disappointed in the rebuild so far for the Magic. They have a great piece in Al Jefferson and some other solid ones but why are they drafting late lotto once again? Get rid of Rashard Lewis already! Do something! What a waste. If they do end up here I guess take the chance on Bargnani. He is a SF for sure long-term. Maybe he can hit B A- scoring or so and become another Rashard Lewis. Yay.
11. Orlando Magic (from Rockets) -- J.J. Barea PG 5'10'' 180 22 C B+ B C D+ B
Rookie PG that is starting off with B+ outside and likely solid handles. I'm a fan. With camps and a solid TC or two A outside is well within reach. As long as the handling is solid that will make him a solid starter for a long time. Unlikely he can reach All-Star level but a PG that can score an efficient low 20s ppg has value.
12. Golden State Warriors (from Lakers) -- J.J. Redick SG 6'3'' 200 22 C A- D+ C D+ A
So many players like this already in the league. Redick is not good at anything besides shooting. He likely is similar to Ben Gordon so yeah not that likely that he can be a starter on a good team. Should provide value as a sixth man though and he fits the Warriors system with Nash and Martin.
13. New Jersey Nets (from Mavericks) -- Marquinhos Vieira SF 6'8'' 225 22 C+ C+ C- B+ C B
No idea who this guy is. He has high C+ C+ scoring but with nothing to go off of who knows how good or bad his volume is. Luckily for him, greeme does not care about volume for his wings. If he can just turn into a James Posey type scorer who plays solid defense and does not turn it over he is perfect for the Nets. If he has solid notes I can see him going a few spots higher but even with meh ones he should still slot in around this pick.
14. Atlanta Hawks (from Heat) -- Renaldo Balkman SF 6'8'' 208 22 B C- C- B B- B
Nope. Not buying that Renaldo Balkman with C- outside is a good wing. Looks like a career backup to me either as a wing or maybe as a PF depending on his shot blocking and rebounding development. It is hard for me to see any path for him as a starter but who knows. With all these mid-teens picks I do think the Hawks should take a chance on him. Worst case scenario he is cheap depth.
15. Atlanta Hawks (from 76ers) -- Adam Morrison SF 6'8'' 205 22 B- B+ D+ D D+ C
D defense, ugh. It just kills his trade value and will limit his minutes as a starter. Obviously he is a SG not a SF with the poor rebounding as well. Maybe you can camp him to B A scoring eventually but will any contender ever really feel comfortable starting him? Doubt it. Worth the look at this point of the draft though and the Hawks have a few seasons to try to figure him out.
16. Atlanta Hawks (from Warriors) -- Tyrus Thomas PF 6'9'' 215 20 C+ C D+ B- C A
Tyrus looks pretty poop but he does have A potential (probably). Also should have some solid shot blocking. He needs a lot of work on his rebounding to ever be a starter which hurts him. Should provide some value as a bench player even if he only hits C+ there. Worth rolling the dice on here.
17. Boston Celtics (from Spurs) -- James White SF 6'7'' 200 24 B- C+ C- C C- A
For some reason James White has the highest scouted potential in this class. He is 24 and was known for his dunking so I do question if he has any real chance at ever being a starter. I'm going to go with no but the Celtics might as well make sure instead of just drafting a guaranteed boring backup instead.
18. Boston Celtics (from Timberwolves) -- Randy Foye SG 6'4'' 213 23 B- B- C C+ D B
A guard with B- B- scoring but he plays little defense and does not box out. Seems like every draft has at least one of these guys and they have all been kind of poop so far. Maybe Randy can break the curse? He was once considered as good as Roy!
19. Phoenix Suns -- Hilton Armstrong C 6'11'' 235 22 C+ D+ D B C+ B
Big man with B defense and C+ rebounding that is high enough to show hope for a jump to B- with a few camps there. Likely a career backup and that is fine value this late in the draft. Could end up an Eddie Griffin type best case scenario. More likely he is just a Michael Ruffin type.
20. Memphis Grizzlies (from Trailblazers) -- Thabo Sefolosha SF 6'6'' 220 22 C B- C A- C B
Prototype low volume role player wing who plays good defense. He can provide some value day one for the Grizzlies in their CY and maybe with +24 to his scoring one day he can turn himself into a Shane Battier type player.
21. Milwaukee Bucks (from Clippers) -- Shannon Brown SG 6'4'' 205 21 B- B- C- C D+ B
Another B- B- scoring wing who gives you nothing else. Whatever. Shannon was a solid bench scorer for a few years so he can probably be the same here. Not sure he will ever be worth camping but B A- scoring in his prime is very possible!
22. Chicago Bulls -- Josh Boone C 6'10'' 237 22 C+ D C- B- B- C
Young big who is close to B- B B ratings and locked up for only $2 million a year for four years. Who cares about his potential? He will be a solid pick for whatever playoff team does end up taking him in the 20s in this draft.
23. Atlanta Hawks (from Knicks) -- Patrick O'Bryant C 7'0'' 260 20 C+ D+ D C+ C+ B
Former Warriors. Only 20. Averaged over 2 bpg per 36 for his career in limited minutes. Maybe he can be a solid third big.
24. Boston Celtics (from Pistons) -- Ronnie Brewer SF 6'7'' 220 21 B- C C- B- C B
Wing that can't shoot but can play a little defense and has some volume built in. Celtics end up with three whatever wing prospects in this mock, one of them has to turn out decent. Maybe?
25. New York Knicks (from Jazz) -- Craig Smith PF 6'7'' 250 21 B C- C- C+ C+ C
Highest inside scoring in the draft. Perfect backup SF for the system the Knicks supposedly want to run. Looks a lot like Gary Trent with hopefully lower turnovers.
26. Milwaukee Bucks (from Wizards) -- Yotam Halperin PG 6'4'' 205 22 C+ B- B C C- C
Bucks add another C potential PG to their team who has some decent ratings to start off with. Just hope for a decent TC that makes him worth camping.
27. Los Angeles Lakers (from Hornets) -- Leon Powe PF 6'8'' 240 22 B- C- C- C+ C+ B
Leon Powe is pretty close to B- rebound and is also pretty close to B inside scoring. Maybe another Chuck Hayes type big? Heard he is pretty good.
28. New Jersey Nets (from Cavaliers) -- Daniel Gibson PG 6'2'' 190 20 C- B B- C D B
PG that can shoot but is highly flawed. Should have decent handling but the volume is questionable. Good fit here with the Nets.
29. Memphis Grizzlies (from Kings) -- Shelden Williams C 6'9'' 250 23 C+ D+ D C+ C+ B
Was a lotto pick in real life. Looks pretty poop here. Maybe has some shot blocking hidden under that C+ defense or some hidden potential.
