Red’s Young Gun Review EAST
YG = Young Gun(s)
YG = Young Gun(s)
Welcome one and all for the first review of the young guns in the East. This is a team by team breakdown of the freshman thru the current senior class (02-05 draft classes)
Players will be listed team by team and ofc the RPEF will be shown along with EFT%, BihP, and PpS.
Wizards
First team we’ll talk about is the Washington Wizards that have 4 young guns on their roster, though only Haslem is above the stud line of 17.5, with Deng and Pitrus coming in below the Magliorian line of 13.296. Perkins at 13.9 escapes the designation, however he just isn’t playing up to the expectations this ace reporter had for him when he came into the league. All in all the four of them are responsible for 15 of the Wizards 51 wins as calculated by the RYGWTF*
YoungGun Grade C+
Knicks
Nene leads the Knicks for best Young Gun, and has some solid help with Martynas and Luis coming in with some solid minutes. One of the things you notice about all of these guys is all 4 are over 1 point with the BihP rating, being the only team to field more than 3 YGs and have all of them achieve that.
YoungGun Grade B+
RYGWTF 18 wins
76ers
Only 2 YGs fro the 6ers however they are both centers and both of them are solid contributors. Nenad is grabbing the boards and blockin the shots while Chris is scoring the points. Both these guys could end up being really solid.
YoungGun Grade B-
RYGWTF 8 wins
Orlando
The magic sport 5 YGs on their roster, and are the only one to have an elite in the east plus a stud. Al Jefferson is the real deal, and is already ranking high on the RPEF, and David Lee is a stud himself. Johnson Williams and Elis look like they need another TC or two before they start to blossom.
YoungGun Grade A
RYGWTF 18 wins
Boston
So far the surprise of the 05 Draft has been the play of Gortat. While not spectacular, he got nearly 2 blocks a game with 10/8 points boards. Boston better strike it rich in 06 and 07 or they are in for a long bumpy couple of seasons with the possibility of needing to trade away assets to not be fired.
YoungGun Grade C
RYGWTF 17 wins
Nets
Ben Gordon is the top guy on the nets as a YG, and that is kinda scarry since they are into year two of their CY. Tony might be their sleeper that breaks out in TC
YoungGun Grade C-
RYGWTF10 wins
Heat
Traded West and have no YGs
YoungGun Grade F
RYGWTF 0 wins
Cavs
Cleveland only has a single YG, but that is OK since they have so many stars on their team, with none really being old enough to worry yet. Salmons is currently a Magloirean line guy, but that could also be caused by no need for young uns.
YoungGun Grade D
RYGWTF 7 wins
Bulls
Sweet Lou is all they needed from one tank season and they were back in the playoffs, and currently sitting in the Conf finals. Say what you will about the lack of young uns, but somehow they pulled it off without needing YGs
YoungGun Grade D+
RYGWTF 5 wins
Hornets
What the Hornets lack in number of YGs they make up for the quality of the one they have wint a young PG that is already playing like a GOOD PG in the league.
YoungGun Grade C+
RYGWTF 9 wins
Toronto
The raptors really don’t have much for YGs on their team, and the ones they do, don’t look like they are long for the game. Without blowing up in TC Mo and Willie should be eventual dust in the wind to the league as outside of VFA trades, they wont be worth anything else.
YoungGun Grade D-
RYGWTF 5 wins
Pacers
The only team besides Boston to sport 6 YGs in this rundown, the Pacers actually have YGs that are producing already, compared to Boston. Josh, Trevor and Charlie are already looking tasty, and this prognosticator thinks they will continue to develop into very tasty players. The other 3 look like they need the help of a magazine writer to spotlight them in articles.
YoungGun Grade B+
RYGWTF 19 wins
Bucks
I am a little perplexed as why the Bucks didn’t play one of their YG more, Webster, versus giving the minutes to E Jones, but because of that we have an abridged list of Bucks to look at. Boris is a solid guy, but really needs some TC love to develop into a stud or better. The other 3 here are right at the Magliorean line…
YoungGun Grade C
RYGWTF 10 wins
Hawks
Last we come to the Hawks, that has Andrew Bynum already showing up as a Stud in the RPEF. Sources have said he is pissed he went #4 and not #3 and will make sure Boston never forgets they didn’t pick him. Randolph is on the back side of already being solid, but it looks like Footy needs a couple additional game changing YGs to not be in trouble once his CY hits. I almost thing GMs that take over via CY sould get a reprieve year since whoever gets CY’d probably mortgaged the future to not get CY’d
YoungGun Grade C-
RYGWTF 7 wins
