Hellllllo Everybody!
Welcome to the final edition of powerpolls for Season 2008
Throughout the playoffs, executives from around the league provided their thoughts on the league's best teams. Their thoughts are below:
1. Dallas Mavericks (80 votes, 8 First Place Votes)
Record: 60-22
Playoff Status: Active, Western Conference Finalist
Last Ranking: 1
Ahsan: Defending Champs with the best record in the league at 60 wins. Feel like it is a no-brainer
Svedda: Great team but not sure why they dealt Deron.
Stevie B: Defending Champs. 60 wins. The team to beat yet again.
DB: Hanes has the best of the best team. They're very dominant and very good. Can't wait to see what they do in the playoffs.
JR: Best team ok?
2. Seattle Supersonics (72 votes)
Record: 57-25
Playoff Status: Active, Western Conference Finalist
Last Ranking: 2
Ahsan: Love this team, honestly love their chances to win the title this season. Just such a terrific roster from top to bottom.
Stevie B: With CP3/T Mac/Melo this trio can match up with anyone...Dwight anchoring the defense. Scary unit
Galo: Mark stayed relatively pat at the deadline but they're nipping at the Mavs heels.
Footy: Dangerous playoff team but do they have enough firepower to overcome the Mavs
3. Chicago Bulls (62 votes)
Record: 54-28
Playoff Status: Eliminated, First Round
Last Ranking: 3
Svedda: Good team. Not much else to say.
DB: Play/insane built themselves a very good squad here. They're an offensive force. I think they make it back to the finals for sure.
JR: Best team in the East when healthy
Footy: Struggled down the stretch and the loss of Parker will hurt. This team looks like it has maxed out though and is ready for a rebuild
4. Utah Jazz (54 votes)
Record: 53-29
Playoff Status: Eliminated, Second Round
Last Ranking: 4
Andy: You can't count out a team with Kobe and LeBron
Svedda: Two players do not make a team.
DB: LeBron and Kobe... need I say more? This has the leagues two best players but is it enough to carry them to the finals and win it all? Don't think so
Footy: Two superstars surrounded by some talent. A tier below the top teams in the West but not by much
5. Atlanta Hawks (43 votes)
Record: 54-28
Playoff Status: Eliminated, First Round
Last Ranking: 7
Ahsan: Footy keeps climbing up the Footy Power Polls, gotta love it.
Andy: Gotta give footy his props. CY year and almost took best record in the East while mainting his youth/picks. Next year should be a big year in ATL, magic city aside
Stevie B: Footy has done a nice job with this squad in his CY year. Really hit it out of the park. Can this team make a deep run with JJ Barea tho?
DB: Very good young ish squad that had Footy in his CY. Looks like he will hit 50 plus wins and have a good healthy squad come playoffs. Very good offense
6. New Jersey Nets (32 votes)
Record: 53-29
Playoff Status: Eliminated, Second Round
Last Ranking: 9
Svedda: Salmons first option? Weird stuff.
DB: Sneaky team. Very underrated. Going to be a force in the playoffs. Ben Gordon returns, very good rebounding team.
Galo: Solid team but think they've overachieved some this season. Salmons is having his best season by far.
JR: Good team all role players doe
7. Cleveland Cavaliers (30 votes)
Record: 53-29
Playoff Status: Active, Eastern Conference Finalist
Last Ranking: 8
Ahsan: Dirk too good.
Andy: I put the Cavs above the next few teams because they can easily make noise with Dirk and that cast off backcourt. They have done a great job using Francis all year and Allen gives them a great weapon to help Dirk.
Stevie B: Looking quite strong. Al/Dirk/Ray/Francis looking like a nice foursome. Is the rest good enough, tho?
Galo: A good team that could have been better if Francis stayed healthy
8. Golden State Warriors (24 votes)
Record: 53-29
Playoff Status: Eliminated, Second Round
Last Ranking: N/A
Andy: Lowry is going to carry this team to at least a 2nd round apperance. They have talent, just need to find Lowry help next year. They have good defense up front and should be able to carry that forward.
Svedda: Houston for free was key
Stevie B: Fun looking squad with 2 very good bigs, a scorer in Houston, and an absolute beast in Lowry. Artest fits in nicely with this group, too. Scary squad all of a sudden.
9. New York Knicks (15 votes)
Record: 51-31
Playoff Status
Last Ranking: N/A
Ahsan: Skillz always builds great teams and this one is no exception. Superb depth all around. Feel like they could make some more power moves to add more starpower.
Stevie B: Always win 50+. However, team is a little banged up. Might be in trouble this year.
DB: After a flurry of trades Skillz seems to have found another new playoff core. They aren't as good as previous Knicks teams but they make it in the top 10
Footy: Another playoff appearance for this Club despite Skillz overturning the roster half a dozen times during the season. Will be interested to see what the future has in store for this club
10. Washington Wizards (14 votes)
Record: 51-31
Playoff Status: Active, Eastern Conference Finalist
Last Ranking: 6
Andy: Let's be honest. Not sure how they keep making it every year but this team will continue to make playoff noise. Peja being as good as he is surprises me. Camby is still a stud. Terry is going to bring them down though.
Svedda: New year same shit
DB: Same ol Jah but they have another top 10 squad this year. Don't expect much from them but crazier things have happened.
JR: They just keep proving the Gurus wrong
