pretty sure AIM was shut down several years ago... google chat would be the closest What about Slack, Band, Discord, WhatsApp, etc? Or text group 🤣 while all of those are valid, they also have dedicated apps and require people to join another service. whereas hangouts is strictly web based. That said, yes to use hangouts would require n account to be linked at the very least... it most certainly doesn't require people that dont know each other to expose their phone numbers to others... whatsapp isn't bad and they have done a lot since they were exploited by intelligence agencies of numerous countries.... me personally I wont use discord, but if slack was used, I'd be ok with it. To answer your question though, no idea about band as I've never used it, but when you come to strict technicalities involving network traffic and UI as I said, Hangouts is the closest. |

not sure why anyone would be hacking a BBS draft, but whatever you say... it's not about hacking a draft, it's about getting any info that helps for identity theft ect. This is part of what I do for a living, so pardon me for not liking some apps out there that have had tons of user credentials dumped on the dark web... but suit yourself. |
