Robert California's Tales of the Draft
Welcome one and all as we cover the most recent draft. While the pretty pictures show the RPEF, PpS, BiHP and EFT%, as I went through this, I realized Svedda or Skillz was right and the RPEF is a tad to big man centric and needs to be tweaked some more. A future article will debut that. Remember these draft grades are all about the fact people don't like A's being handed out, so if I gave you an A it was obviously a friend grade, same with the F's Snce this is a curve there must be Fs to go with As
So without further ado let's get into what everyone is eagerly awaiting
2 Sacramento Kings - RUDY GOBERT
The first couple picks of the draft were no brainers and as expected the Kings struck gold with Rudy.3.5:1.4 STO ratio is looking really good for the kid to go with his double double points and boards.
A
1Timberwolves - GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO
Playing very well for the wolves already putting up 19/8 with a .480 EFT%, what’s not to like about this young man. He is bound to be a monster in the league.
A
7 San Antonio Spurs - DEWAYNE DEDMON
A great mid lotto pick, Dewayne is almost averaging a doub doub in 30 min/ game.a 3:0.9 STO is utterly amazing. Fantastic pick at 7
A-
29 New York Knicks - RESCIND
New York did what a few others should have done and didn’t waste 7-8 million of salary on players not worth it.
A-
13 Dallas Mavericks - GORGUI DIENG
Dallas snuck in and struck gold here, also avg almost a doub doub in 29 minutes play and a 2.5:0.9 STO, doubt they could have done much better and left several GMs wishing that had not let Dieng slip to 13. His one downside is FG%
B+
10 Sacramento Kings - ANDRE ROBERSON
I was higher on Andre on draft day than today. Solid guy, with a great 3.3:0.7 STO but he isn’t boarding much for his minutes and his FT/FG% is pretty bad.
C
4 Milwaukee Bucks - STEVEN ADAMS
Steven has made his way to the Jazz and so far is a bad shooter, though a decent boarder. The Jazz hope he continues to develop as right now his prospects are to be a MLE in 4 years
C
5 New York Knicks - ROBERT COVINGTON
Now in Dallas Robert is making the most of his minutes. He has an outstanding .509 EFT% and looks like he has a chance to be even better.
B+
9 Boston Celtics- OTTO PORTER
Initially Otto looked like he might be able to save the Celtics single handedly, but since the opening days of the season, has settled down and looked like a guy drafted 9th
C+
8 Phoenix Suns - DANIEL THEIS
The Suns may have reached with Daniel, and in the early going not showing what they were hoping for with the 8th pick of the draft.
D+
3 Orlando Magic- CJ MCCOLLUM
CJ is now on the Pacers and has a good EFT%, a neutral STO and getting 17+ PpG in 30 minutes. He stepped right in to play and is not disappointing.
B
15 New York Knicks - KELLY OLYNYK
Another guy that has transitioned to the Pacers, Kelly is looking like a so so big, that has a slightly negative STO ratio. The Pacers need him to continue to develop as right now he looks like a guy you would get with a LLE
C
14 Atlanta Hawks- JAMES ENNIS
James so far has played like an OK backup, and since the Hawks are tanking, it is very puzzling that they aren’t giving their #1 a chance to show what he’s got
C-
24 Boston Celtics - DENNIS SCHRODER
Dennis was an absolute steal at #24 and is looking like he could be a tasty PG in the league. He had a great TC and has come out to play. Currently scoring 15 a game as a non-option with a .494 EFT, this guy will be giving many GMs heartburn for letting him slip so far in the draft.
A-
19 Boston Celtics- MASON PLUMLEE
Boston has often found a good player at this point in the draft, but came up what usually happens, a #19 pick that ties up salary and plays OK
D+
22 Utah Jazz - ALLEN CRABBE
Allen is making the most of his playing time and has a .525 EFT%, just need him to shoot some more and maintain that shooting and he will be another late draft steal taken with the 22nd pick
B
Guys with Inconclusive / Limited Data
18 Washington Wizards - ALEX LEN
The limited playing time looks good. Still bitter Greeme refused to trade and wasted a pick on Clark, who would still been available.
16 New Jersey Nets - SETH CURRY
Seth has had limited time to prove how good he is, but the limited data shows he might be a good ½ backup
B-
11 Philadelphia 76ers- NERLENS NOEL
This guy has sucked in his limited scrub minutes, and currently is wasting 4 years of salary
F
26 New Orleans Hornets - JEFF WITHEY
This guy has sucked in his limited scrub minutes and currently is wasting 4 years of salary
F
23 Sacramento Kings- ARCHIE GOODWIN
Archie at least is making it into games, though with limited minutes. Scoring a point ever 2 minutes isn’t horrible, but his shooting % is.
D
6 Philadelphia 76ers- VICTOR OLADIPO
This guy has sucked in his limited scrub minutes and currently is wasting 4 years of salary
F
21 Orlando Magic - TIM HARADWAY JR
On a team that is tanking and getting no minutes, is there anything worse than an F, cause that is what the GM should get.
25 Boston Celtics - KENTAVIOUS CALDWELL-POPE
Traded to the Kings and getting no minutes, one can hope he might eventually develop
D-
27 Boston Celtics - MARKO TODOROVIC
Bostons GM should be fired for making this pick.
F
17 New Jersey Nets - IAN CLARK
Could have easily turned this into a 2 for 1 set of picks and or gotten Ian on a cheaper contract, and currently just a waste of money
D-
20 Golden State Warriors- BEN MCLEMORE
What the Celtics GM was thinking trading for Ben during the draft is again a mystery. Taking on more salary for a player at a position they had no need for. While it wasn’t a horrible pick for the Kings, trading for him on draft day the Celtics get a:
F
28 Golden State Warriors- MIKE MUSCALA
GSW might have been better off forfeiting this pick, but Mike looks like he might be a sleeper
D
12 Sacramento Kings - CODY ZELLER
Cody is an interesting guy, languishing without any playing time to showcase his talents. Now on the Rockets Mavricks, he has been collecting splinters while hoping for future success

and with that we can wrap up the early results of this draft, until we once again do a look back to see if any of these fuckers that ain't doing shit this season, eventually become good players
Oh was it coincidental that 28 players were reviewed?
