1. The Clippers will still make their CY
nybombers3 – Cold Take – Me mostly believing in Outlawz but he needs to start making moves. Cousins is no Bueno for the overall roster he currently has. He needs to dump him and try patch work a frontcourt plus get some depth. If not that then he’s going to have to move Khris. Either way, he’s on the clock. Literally. Due to HC issues.
JR - cold take. Unfortunately he made the wrong moves. I will miss my brother Outlawz. Gonna have to PM him my number so we can keep in contact.
hf – Cold Take - Outlawz has been here before and what’s better than experience when you’re in a tough situation.
@ukfanjohn – RED HOT. The west isn't strong at the bottom of the playoff race but I just don't see too much on their roster that gives me confidence they can make it. Maybe if they sneak in with 35 wins.
2. Zion Williamson is the most valuable player currently on a rookie deal
nybombers3 – My dude averaging almost 30 ppg in his rookie season on stupid percentages. Not sure any other player comes close. Zion, I’m sure, had really good potential as well. I can see him being a top 10 player while still on his rookie deal.
JR - cold take. Obviously. Who else could it be? Frank Ntilikina maybe.
hf – Hot Take - I think Bam is way more valuable than Zion. Also think Luka holds more value since he can run the point
@ukfanjohn – COLD. Zion gets the value boost of being a rookie and looking like a snacc at SF. I can't justify valuing any of the young guards over him.
3. DLo is a top 10 PG
nybombers3 – I guess Cold Take - Let’s see. Steph, Jrue, Lowry. CP3 should be there but his fall off is hard to look at. Harden is there. Not sure who else would come next. Maybe Murray? Dame? Harrison? Whatever. Yeah I guess borderline.
JR - hot take. Dude is not that good. Cockstly should’ve taken dame!
hf – Cold Take - I don’t even know the top 10 point guards but most of them are interchangeable.
@ukfanjohn – COLD. There are a lot of good PGs. I think DLO is a solid starter but I wouldn't have him in my top 10....speaks to the depth of the position.
4. Anthony Davis will not make another ECF as long as he stays in WAS
nybombers3 – Cold Take. Just don’t see it. What was the last Wizards trade? I can’t even remember. Might as well move AD and Pat Pat now.
JR - cold take. Yeah Jah doesn’t build with trades so unless he get a miracle run i don’t see it.
hf – Cold Take - I agree, Jah doesn’t have the pieces to put around him and he’s not active enough to capitalize on having a star
@ukfanjohn – HOT. I'll take the chances they make an ECF appearance. Even if I don't see them being a top 2 team in the east anytime soon anything can happen come playoff time and Davis is still an elite talent.
5. Jayson Tatum and Donovan Mitchell are busts
nybombers3 – Hot Take. Kinda. I don’t think Tatum will be anything more then a solid player but idk. Mitchell is gone. Not sure there’s much saving there.
JR - cold take. Yes and i thank Andrew everytime i look at Tatums stat line! Unfortunate about Donovan one of my fav non knicks.
hf – Cold Take - Tatum looks really good but Mitchell is definitely a bust.
@ukfanjohn – COLD. They don't stand out at all and appear to already be lost in the shuffle of the wing spots in the league. Mitchell is especially disappointed as it seemed like he looked very promising early in his career. TCs just didn't go his way.
6. The Knicks and Pacers are the favorites to meet in the ECF
nybombers3 – Hot take – I do think one of these teams makes it. Not sure which but if I had to best I think it’ll be a Knicks Vs Bulls ECF.
JR - hot take. Pacers aren’t there yet. Knicks should but skillz likes to choke as of late. Always a good regular season team doe.
hf - Cold take I got the Knicks vs Bulls. Murray took that next step in his development and they look ready
@ukfanjohn – HOT. I still believe in the Bulls. I think the Pacers are a move or two Way from really putting clamps on the central division. The Knicks have been impressive early and it is very easy to see them making it to the ECF, although it seems they inexplicably have hiccups every now and then come postseason time.
7. The Suns and Jazz are the favorites to meet in the WCF
nybombers3 – Hot Take – Not sure either of these teams will make it. I think the Wolves/Blazers defnitly have a good shot as well. The Grizz haven’t changed much since erbes left but here we are. They are still solid.
JR - hot take. It’s too early I’m not even sold on my team yet. Frank is holding it down but idk! My froncourt is sexy. Suns do look good. Samuels for free helps.
hf – Hot Take - Giannis is back in the playoff mix this year and he has only missed the conference finals one time in his playoff career.
@ukfanjohn – COLD. Both teams have played really well out of the gate and I can easily see each team winning their respective division and being the top two seeds in the bracket. The blazers are looming and the upstart Grizzlies may have spoil the postseason plans but I'll take these two in the WCF
8. This is the last season for the big 3 in Houston
nybombers3 – Cold Take – I do think they CAN keep the group together but it’s going to be difficult for them to actually keep all 3 and build around them. Plus, gotta be boring.
JR - cold take. Has to be they all make close to or over 20 mill. Idk how he’ll field a competitive team. He could make the playoffs but not actually compete.
hf – Cold Take - Ahsan will have to move on from Love or KD this off-season, but who will take the contracts?
@ukfanjohn – ICE COLD. It has to be right ? Unless ahsan dumps lance for almost pure salary relief he is staring down the barrel of having 5 player roster with about 76 million in salary. His best rim protector also is a potential free agent so I would honestly be shocked if he doesn't move one of them for a package of multiple starters and cap flexibility
9. Curry will continue to average 40 ppg this year
nybombers3 – Cold Take – Sure. Not even sure it’s possible but fuck it why not?
JR - cold Take. Is this even a question? He has to carry them! Pistons roster has been mediocre but Steph just elevates the team on his own.
hf – Cold Take - Curry is the second best player in the league he’s not going anywhere
@ukfanjohn – COLD. I will agree with this. He got close last year at 38.7 and he bares even more of thr scoring burden (if possible) now that the pistons swapped some higher volume scorers out (beasley). I think he will be at least 39+, maybe just a shade under 40.
10. Luka Doncic will not live up to his IRL counterpart.
nybombers3 – Cold Take – Let’s be honest. He’s not. Not even close.
JR - cold take. I think he is actually spot on. But y’all sleep still.
hf – Cold Take - He’s not putting up a 30 point trip dub in his second season so he’s already behind Luka irl. I still think he will be a star
@ukfanjohn _ - HOT. I still believe in him...I mean he'll he's averaging 23/9/9. He needs to improve some sure but it can come in time. I also disagree with the statement simply because I think Doncic has become overrated IRL. He's stud sure but he isn't the white LeBron.
