Giving this a try!
Luis Henrique Silva
6’5
225 lbs
22 yrs
Brazil
SG/SF
Backstory: Luis like most Brazilians grew up playing soccer where he was the leading goal scorer for his Belo Horizonte’s U18 soccer team but his love was always basketball. During a tournament that held the fate of his soccer draft status Luis got tripped up on a dirty slide tackle and tore his ACL and MCL. After surgery it was clear that his dream of being a professional soccer player was done. During rehab from age 19.5 to 21 years old Luis Henrique grew 7 inches and put on 25 lbs of muscle since all he was able to do was rip upper body and finally rehab his legs. Now adjusting to his new frame he poured his energy into the hardwood and felt he was pretty good.
Using some connections Luis Henrique secured a try out which led to a spot for Brazil for the Fiba basketball tournament. After 5 games in the tournament Luis Henrique has put up insane stats averaging 43 points per game with 8 rebounds 2 steals 5 assists (2.5 topg). However in the last game he played he broke his finger and was sidelined for the rest of the tournament as Brazil was eliminated. Some scouts are in awe with Luis Henrique while others question if he just put on a show vs really bad teams as they played Iran, South Korea, Philippines, Montenegro and Jordan. Luis Henrique is injured going into the draft so we will see if those ratings are all a hot string of games or actual skill.
** Luis got his surgery done by a sketchy Brazilian doctor and some team medical reps believe there is a chance of re-injury. Every season on his rookie deal he will have a 10% chance to re tear something in which case he does he will lose 40 quickness and be on IR for a year. Flip side is if he gets hurt he is a work horse and will regain 5 quickness back per year at the cost of 500 posts.
Strengths: Relentless scorer in the 5 games scouts attended. Ability to drive to the basket and pull up from mid and somewhat from deep. Athletic and has good hustle. Can use his size to force some steals and get some boards
Weaknesses: weak knees, no blocks, passes a normal amount but at times with the decision making you know he hasn’t been playing professional for long
