Joe grew up in a small town having to play as a PF /C since while not really tall, he and his best friend were the two tallest on the team at 6'7", and were constantly going up against teams with multiple players taller and heavier than them. Joe really put the time in at the gym during HS as his freshman year he was 6'5" and 165 lbs. Joe is a shutdown defender with a great vertical and lead his state in blocks 3 years straight. Joe also has quick hands and frequently steals the ball, no mater who he is guarding, PG - C. In Pickup games Joe always plays SG / SF and has a great outside shot, but never got comfortable playing on the inside against Centers and Power Forwards. Joe started playing basketball late and was afraid to take the shot and miss, so while he rarely missed from the charity stripe (including his Jr season where he made 99 straight), Joe has a tendency to move the ball unless the other team slacks off him, at which point he will knock down anything outside 10'. Inside 10' he misses a lot, pressing too hard for what should be an easy layup. D Boards Joe is all over, and uses his strength, leverage and jumping to make sure the other team doesn't get a second shot if he is anywhere near the rebound. Joe is equally at home guarding the perimeter or protecting the lane.
