2002 BBS Lottery Grades!
1) - Yao Ming C 22 7'6'' 310 B C D+ C+ C+ A
Analysis: Fairly self-explanatory no-brainer pick lol. Yao might be a superstar from day one and was the main prize of this lottery. They need to get some talent around him and Jamison but have a nice team in the making up in Philadelphia.
Grade: A+

2) (from ) - Amar'e Stoudemire PF 20 6'10'' 245 B+ D+ D+ C C A
Analysis: The Kings are so damn good to where whomever they add is gravy. They clearly went with the upside pick and you can't really fault them for that. Given his lack of defense/rebounding, not sure if he can be a great big right now. His lack of outside shooting doesn't really make him the best option as a wing. Regardless, this is an UPSIDE play. Given that the commissioner of the league has Amar'e in his avatar, it tells you that he will likely have a lot of upside and could develop those obvious disgusting weaknesses. Feel like this was the correct pick.
Grade: A
3) - Carlos Boozer PF 21 6'9'' 258 B C- D+ C B B
Analysis: He will be a double-double guy for many years to come. Possibly better at SF due to the lack of defense as I personally don't really care for bigs who can't defend. Don't really think he becomes a lot better than he already is (which is difficult to say for a rookie) but he is already fairly solid. I personally think they should've swung for the fences and went for an upside play but you can't hate on them for going safe. They are trying to build a nice supporting cast for LeBron James.

4) - Dimitris Diamantidis SG 22 6'5'' 195 B- B C+ C C B
Analysis: No brainer pick. I personally was expecting him to go 3rd or even as high as 2nd. Really happy when he fell. His notes said he is an immensely talented scorer which makes me assume he isn't much of an athlete. Already having B outside as a rookie is cool with his inside scoring and plus rebounding for a shooting guard. Hoping he can become the 20+ PPG guy I envision him being as the Rockets try to build the perfect supporting cast for LeBron James.
Grade: A+
5) (from via ) - Tayshaun Prince SF 6'9'' 212 22 C B C- B+ C B
Analysis: I don't HATE the pick BUT giving up Admiral to move up from 8 to 5 to get him makes this bad. Had they taken Nene or Butler or Williams or even Dunleavy Jr, I may have hated it less but still feel like they gave up too much for a guy who's upside basically caps him as a role player. He does have the handles and blocks/steals/rebounds to be a nice starter but his lack of scoring makes it difficult to justify him as a top five pick.
Grade: C+ for the pick, F- for the trade evening out to a D-
6) (from ) - Caron Butler SF 6'7'' 228 22 B- C+ C+ C C A
Analysis: I would've taken Nene but I can't hate on Butler. Can become a nice scoring/rebounding wing and if he does, it will end up looking like a great pick. Needs to work on his shooting but if that potential is a true A, then he should end up being a borderline all-star type which would be great.
Grade: A-
7) - Mike Dunleavy SF 6'9'' 230 22 C+ B C C+ C A
Analysis: I don't hate it BUT feel like Nene would have been the right pick here. Regardless, he is a wing who can shoot. Notes say he has good handles and perimeter defense as well. My only concern is that he might be capped as a role player due to a lack of scoring volume. But he does have upside and looks like a great prospect overall.
Grade: B+
8) (from via ) - Jay Williams PG 6'2'' 195 21 C+ C+ C+ C+ C- A
Analysis: Upside pick. At first glance, you might think it's terrible. Especially when you notice that a lot of those C+'s are borderline closer to C. Raw player with high upside, swing for the fences type of pick. Not whom I would take but I can't fault the Nuggets for retooling with a player that feel has star potential. Nene would have been a better pick but it's cool.
Grade: B for the pick, A+ for the trade evening out to A-
9) (from ) - Nene C 6'11'' 250 20 B- C- D C+ C+ B
Analysis: He has B- C- scoring as a 20 year old and his notes say that he will develop into a great defender. This is the type of big you expect to get in the top five especially in a draft this weak. And somehow, he falls right into the Raptors lap at 9th Overall. No-brainer pick, love it!
Grade: A+
10) - Dajuan Wagner SG 6'2'' 200 19 C C+ C+ C D+ A
Analysis: The notes were nice saying he's a great scorer from inside and out but it did state that he has a huge flaw which is handles. His ratings also don't look pretty. BUT he is 19 years old and that A potential is probably true. Him being an SG might hurt him a bit. It's another swing for the fences type of pick. If there are no notes, this man does not go top 20 but given what the notes say, I'll trust that it's a good value pick.
Grade: B
11) - Milos Vujanic PG 6'3'' 187 22 C+ B+ C C D+ C
Analysis: C+ B+ offense at PG looks nice. D+ rebounding is solid for a PG. No notes so it's a risk BUT given how shallow this draft is, it's worth taking this risk at this point in the draft.
Grade: A-
12) (from via ) - Luis Scola PF 6'9'' 240 22 B- B- D+ C C+ B
Analysis: I honestly think he is going to be a great wing due to the scoring/rebounding ability. Notes say he has good handles too. Don't see much of a future as a big due to the lack of defense. The Knicks traded Kenyon Martin to get him whom I don't really think much of so that alone makes it a great move as Scola might have a serious future in this league.
Grade: A- for the pick, A for the trade evening out to an A
13) (from ) - Arvydas Macijauskas SG 6'4'' 215 22 B- B C C D+ B
Analysis: This is the Bucks second lottery pick in this draft. After already taking Boozer, taking a player like Arvydas makes his team look A LOT nicer. Notes say he can score (though also says he might be more suited for a backup role). He looks like a poor man's version of Dimitris who went 4th Overall. Love this pick and what the Bucks are doing overall. They are trying to build a nice supporting cast for LeBron James.
