www.reuters.com/article/uk-basketball-spain-record/basketball-bagayoko-becomes-spains-youngest-ever-top-flight-basketball-player-aged-14-idUKKBN2CD1GZ
Strengths:
-Terrific size/athleticism, runs the floor very well, good shotblocker
-Experienced with a very high Basketball IQ. Very humble/hardworking but also very confident in his game, does have a swag to him
-Very fundamentally sound and intelligent basketball player, usually the right reads in terms of passing
-Good ball-handler capable of putting the ball on the floor and taking it to the rack
-Terrific footwork. Great finisher around the rim. His footwork/athleticism also makes him a solid defender of the drive and perimeter
-Good midrange/freethrow shooter with range extending beyond the arc
Weaknesses:
-Might be lacking in strength for the BBS level
-Due to his slim frame, he does struggle to box out against stronger players raising questions about his rebounding. Isn't a terrible rebounder, just not a great one.
-Not the best threepoint shooter, especially with BBS threepoint line being farther back than the FIBA threepoint line though not afraid to let it fly
-While he is a terrific help/perimeter defender, he isn't a very good post defender
Bio:
In 2021, the Mali bigman Bassala Bagayoko became the youngest player to ever appear in an ACB game back when he was only 14 years old beating Ricky Rubio's record by 4 months. Fast forward 6 years later, Bagayoko has been playing professional basketball at the highest level in Europe (ACB) going up against grown men as a teenager and now ready to take his talents to the toughest league, BBS.
He was 6'10" at age 14 making him too tall/dominating for the children's league and picked up by ACB's Montakit Fuenlabrada where he has spent his entire professional career. During that span, he was able to grow all the way up to 7'1".
Over the course of the past 6 years, Bagayoko has been working hard on his offensive game. He has become a good midrange shooter with range extending beyond the arc, has a terrific post game both in the high post and low post and is an incredible passer with good ballhandling skills. His terrific length/athleticism makes him a good shotblocker and smooth defender of the drive and perimeter.
His tenacity/motor is intense due to his athleticism making him a great help defender as well as perimeter/drive defender.
