Noble Herrero
SF
18
6'9"
185
Buckeye Sr High, AZ
Possible Ratings C+ B+ C+ B- C+ A
Background:
The half brother of Mike Smith, Noble used basketball as an equalizer against his older brother and found that by shooting from the outside, he could negate his brother strength by sprinting from spot to far spot on the 3 point line and swishing it. Mike would pound him inside, but 3 vs 2 would eventually give Noble the win. Having such a dominating brother made Noble crafty for getting around box outs and also positioning perfectly for D boards and he got better at anticipating the perfect place to be to get a board. While only a year younger it wasn't till Nobles Sophomore year he caught up to Mike in height (actually a 1/2 inch taller) so while they were younger, Noble perfected turn around fade aways to combat Mikes height.
In HS you could see Nobles hesitancy to go inside, and many feel this was due to his early days of playing basketball against his brother, but the kid shines from the outside and when feeling good, he can pinball the scoreboard. Noble Loves setting screens and hoping the D forgets about him for a moment as he slowly drifts back to the 3 point line "watching a drive" and if the ball is kicked back he drills the 3. Noble is the kind of guy though that can score 50 or 5 in a game. Just depends on the night. With his quickness he gets steals and some blocks.
Even though Noble is already very good at a lot, he still has some rawness and it might take him 1-3 years to transform his dominance of the state HS basketball programs to the NBA level.
Strength:
Very Good outside shot
Great Jump shot
Good rebounder, both sides
Very Quick
Doesn't turn over much
Gets stocks
Very Good D
Weakness:
Might pass too much
not strong, but has been hitting the weight room
