Orel Gaswiser
Position: Pf
Height: 6'10
Weight: 238 lbs
Age: 21
Team: Gonzaga
Proposed Ratings: C+C-C- B- B B
Strength:
- became a lot stronger from age 19-21. Absolutely workhorse
- big attitude and loves to get the dirty work done. Boards blocks put backs because of that
- average mid range shooter
- doesn’t pass often unless it’s to reset the play (but also doesn’t expect the ball much
-above average but not yet elite boards
-can use the box to make lay ups and hooks but no major post moves (average)
Weakness
- despite being very strong and considered athletic he is slow
- can’t shoot any 3s
- Cant dribble great so handles are slightly below avg for a big
- very little awareness in zone so doesn’t steal often
- poor post defender coming out but wants to improve
Henry “Orel” Gaswiser grew up in Portland Oregon. He has always liked basketball more than the Average kid. Growing up his favorite player was always Lamarcus Aldridge. Orel tried to emulate his game after lamarcus and only walked away with a decent FT. After realizing he needs to write his own story Orel started ripping the gym and went keto. After realizing many health gains from the new lifestyle Orel was excited to start college at Gonzaga to hone in the rest of his talents.
At Gonzaga Orel came off the bench as a freshman while the Zags made their typical final four run. This season he didn’t see much playing time despite always being the star in HS. In his soph season he managed to do 12 points 12 boards 3 blocks on 48/78 shooting lines. This improvement impressed scouts. Obviously it will not translate 1:1 for the pros since those boards and put backs were over the likes of a McDonald’s drive through worker, however, scouts are optimistic that his play style will translate to bbs. A Bbs scouting director was quoted saying “the lower upside prospect in Orel Gaswiser is worth it because he’s already bringing some translatable skills to the table. “
