Bio:
Osei grew up in Jachie village in Ghana. Osei, like many Ghanaian kids, played soccer growing up but he always had an affinity for basketball. Unfortunately basketball wasn't easily accessible in the village - Osei would only get to play when he stayed with his family in the city of Kumasi. Because of this, Osei spent his efforts on soccer despite basketball being his true passion. Osei is a naturally gifted athlete and it wasn't long before he became known as the top soccer player in his region. As Osei received his acceptance to the University of Ghana, he went through an extraordinary 2nd growth spurt where he grew from 6'0 to 6'7. It was at that point Osei decided to snub University of Ghana soccer and he would put everything into basketball.
After graduating from UoG, Osei tried his hand playing basketball in Europe. Osei was a coveted project player due to his amazing athletic ability, but ultimately would bounce around teams due to his lack of skill. Osei finally found his footing in Greece where he showed elite man defense, great playmaking and awesome slashing ability. In 2021, Osei returned to Africa to play in the newly founded Basketball Africa League. Osei quickly became one of the BAL's standouts. Osei averaged 18 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists while winning 2 titles in his 6 seasons there.
Many scouts have pressured Osei to declare for the BBS draft for years and Osei will finally do so at 29 years old!
Strengths:
- Elite post defender and a very good perimeter defender. Osei will be one of the top positional defenders in BBS from day 1.
- Great athlete - Jumping, strength and quickness are all top notch.
- Osei will rack up assists. He loves to make the extra pass.
- Takes care of the ball
- Good post scorer/slasher
- Solid rebounder at SF
Weaknesses:
- No range on his jumper. Osei has an OK mid-range shot but he will not take 3s.
- Not a stocks guy. Prides himself on defending straight up without gambles.
- Weak rebounder at PF
- At 29, Osei is who he is. No potential to improve.
