1. Seattle Supersonics- Ed Macauley C 6'8'' 185 21 B C C+ B+ B A
Extremely good inside scorer and jump shooter. Good handles. Very good post defender and rebounder. Poor shot blocker.
I am not giving away who Im going to pick if I end up #1 or am I? Another fake SF listed as C in these lackluster drafts. Insiders overhearing scouts "He'd be great at SF in an inside offense."
2. New Jersey Nets - Vern Mikkelsen PF 6'7'' 230 21 B- B D+ C+ B A
Elite midrange scorer and post defender. Very good rebounder. Solid handles and inside scoring.
He is 21 which is young for these drafts. He can do it all and I almost put him 1, scouts say he has solid handles but he comes in with D+ scouted so we will see. The Nets GM is terrible at this so I wouldnt be surpised if someone no one expects to be taken ends up at this position.
3. Milwaukee Bucks- George Kaftan SF 6'3'' 190 21 B- C+ C B+ C+ A
Solid at most things. Best attributes are inside scoring, jumpshot and ball handling. SHould get a block and a steal too.
Probably not the prettiest pick but the safest, listed at SF but will end up SG. Has the perfect ratings to become a great SG. Rebounds, blocks, steals handles... might be the next Manny Harris but with more scoring.
4. Memphis Grizzlies- Slater Martin PG 5'10'' 170 24 A- C B+ B- C- A
Extremely good inside and midrange scorer. Solid ball handler and passer. Some steals too.
Any time "extreme" or "elite" are thrown around going to have to pause and look. Would need to know much more about his handles but if he can keep his TOs down we could be looking at the next great BBS PG jin a few years. Drops to #4 only because he will be coming in as a 24 year old rookie.
5. Philadelphia 76ers - Ernie Vandeweghe SF 6'3'' 195 21 C+ B+ C- C C A
Very good shooter and ball handler. Solid rebounder at SG. Some blocks and steals.
Good shooter, solid rebounder and also gets stocks? Whats there not to like? Also being 21 helps.
6. San Antonio Spurs - Bob Harrison PG 6'1'' 190 22 B- B- B- B- C A
Very good inside scorer. Will block, steal and board. More of a SG because of handling issues.
A disaster of a franchise, they have a disgruntled Anthony Edwards rotting away in San Antonio due to an incompetent front office that has been irrelevant in the past several seasons. Harrison will be one of many PGs that are forced to play out of position due to TO issues being only 6 ft 1 we will see if he will ever turn out to be good.
7. Boston Celtics- Dick McGuire PG 6'0'' 180 23 C B B B C A
Very good PG. Solid handles. Good shooter. Some steals. Solid rebounder for size.
23 years old so hes a notch below Harrison, but will no doubt be the better PG. Could be the steal of the draft if camped correctly.
8. Orlando Magic John Oldham SG 6'3'' 175 26 C+ C+ C- C+ C A
Mid across the board.
Not much information on John Oldham but the Magic have so much youth they can take a risk on drafting a 26 year old rookie. They will need to be competing sooner than later anyway.
9. Detroit Pistons - Don Bagley PF 6'7'' 220 20 C C C C+ C A
Extremely raw. Decent jumpshot. Lots of potential.
Looks interesting. He could go higher/lower based on some more scouting noted but if there is any GM that can develop a raw player it´s the Pistons GM.
10. New Orleans Hornets- Ralph Beard PG 5'10'' 175 22 C B+ A- C D B
Very good shooter, ball handler and passer. Doesnt rebound well. Good passer..
New Orleans GM is completely opposed to drafting old rookies so at 22 years of age, Beard will probably be taken a bit higher than he should. If rebounding can be camped early he could turn out to be a steal at PG.
11. Los Angeles Lakers- Dwight Eddleman SF 6'3'' 189 27 B- C- C- B- C+ B
Solid from inside and midrange. Blocks and steals. Solid handles.
This is where things get weird, a 27 year old rookie is insane but he gets stocks and is solid everywhere else. Lakers might nneed to compete soon so it can work.
12. Orlando Magic(from Rockets)- Fred Schaus PF 6'5'' 205 24 C+ C D+ C+ B- B
Solid rebounder and ball handler. Maybe a block and a steal a game.
Another lotto for the magic, solid with low TOs and some stocks... will take it at 12.
13. Los Angeles Lakers (from Portland) - Alex Groza C 6'7'' 218 23 B- C D+ C B+ B
Extremely good inside scorer and jumpshot. Very good rebounder.
Looks ready to play . Doesn't have the blocks which knocks him down a few spots but maybe being moved to SF like every other PF/C in these drafts will help..
