1. Let’s start off with the finals. Congrats to the Hornets. Who are the most likely teams to knock off the Hornets next season?
Galo - New Orleans is still pretty stacked. In the East, it would will be the usual suspects with the dark horse being the Raptors if they can land Mikan or another elite FA. Cloud, Jax and Hutch is already a tough trio. In the West, I can see the Clips, Jazz and Nuggets potentially knocking them out.
Orlando Magic Johnson - Congrats to my pal, PIG!! Nice championship run and team. Habes had a hell of a season and a very good team as well. If the Hornets can bring back Wanzer and deal Paolo for some bigs to break up the contract a bit, which I think they will, they should have no problems making another run. I could see a repeat of the finals again because the Jazz seem like they're in a good position and bringing everyone back. Clippers and Mavericks contenders as well. If they Heat find an upgrade at PG they can give the Hornets some trouble too. I just saw your question below so I am going to repeat myself here. But Heat, Magic and Knicks look like favorites to challenge the Hornets in the East.
hf - I think the Heat can if they can find a better point guard. I also like the Bulls if they finally make moves. They have a roster full of talent but need to trade for a stud
nybombers3 – If I had to guess one team, I’d say the Raps find a way to make some moves and make the finals. They have plenty of available salary to move and their picks. Them aside, I guess the Heat if they can upgrade at PG.
Royal - Ima go with the Spurs. Small ball for the win!
2. Similarly in the West, who are your favorites to prevent the Jazz from going back to the finals?
Galo - Probably the Clippers or Nuggets. The Mavs have been quiet since the botched trade with the Spurs but still have that SA 1st this season so maybe them as well.
Orlando Magic Johnson - Nice squad my pal, harold has here. Taking Chet to the finals made me very happy. Like I said above, Habes is brining everyone back it appears so he's gotta be favorites in the West. Clippers and Mavericks are very good squads. I also think the Nuggets could make some noise.
hf - Gotta be the Jazz again. I feel like the Kings will get a point guard and figure it out as well. Kings Jazz conference finals
nybombers3 – I think the Nuggets make some noise. Miller was a nice get for them at SF. Pretty solid role player that they need.
Royal - Same answer I think Spurs have a lot of fire power.
3. Give me your absolutely way to early finals match up.
Galo – Hornets vs. Nuggets. Cousy vs Wanzer. Pig vs CC. Big Easy vs. Rocky Mountains.
Orlando Magic Johnson - I have to go Hornets-Jazz. Not a very fun pick here but the two best teams. Hornets offense is unreal if they bring back Wanzer. Harold has a team that can do it all with some incredible rebounders.
hf - Bulls/Kings
nybombers3 – Let’s go with Hornets/Nuggets.
Royal - Hornets - Spurs. Hornets cause they're champs and spurs because why not.
4. It’s a pretty loaded FA. Where do you expect Mikan to end up and do you see anyone else jumping ship?
Galo - Probably ATL, TOR or PHX. I’d be shocked if Mikan took anything less than a max and only those teams have max cap right now. With that said, it’ll be very interesting if those 3 teams blow their load on Day 1 on some other cats and Mikan is still there in days 2-3. Highly doubtful but you never know.
Orlando Magic Johnson - There are 3 teams with max cap? Raptors, Suns and Hawks. I guess I can see Mikan ending up on one of them! I am picking the Hawks! Why not. Yeah FA has some pretty fun names definitely due for 1 or 2 big changes. Mikan will definitely not end up back with the Magic imo with Dolph as well out there. Wish I had some cap now...
hf - I see him ending up with Phoenix. They have no bigs and Atlanta will probably use their cap on Wagner.
nybombers3 – I think Mikan ends up in Toronto. Would make them real nasty. I think Dolph is the most likely to dip out of all the other big FA’s. I think they all stay put though.
Royal - Late to answer this, but he was added in a weird way.
5. Speaking of Mikan, Spencer has been adding FA’s in the offseason and added one during the season. Do you like it and want to see more of it or na?
Galo - Obviously it was great for us so I loved it until the Hornets whupped us. It’s nice to have a little surprise here and there so not opposed to it.
Orlando Magic Johnson - YES! Absolutely love it. Great idea. Should do like 2-3 and spice it up. Maybe they're ok, bad or very good! Who knows! But I think it adds a fun new element to FBB. We're really maximizing the most out of this game and while we all love it, I think it's just another great way to promote interest, activity and more FUN.
hf - I like it as long as every year we don’t have studs coming over. Mikan can change an entire franchise.
nybombers3 – I like it. Adds a different touch. Maybe do more of it in the offseason instead of during the season though but I’m with it.
Royal - I dont mind it, just wasn't aware of it.
6. What do you want to accomplish during the offseason?
Galo - Need to try to improve so we can match up better with the Hornets. We have some weak spots that got exposed so need to try to address it. It starts with resigning Dolph and going from there.
Orlando Magic Johnson - I don't have my first this upcoming season. I would love to be able to compete and then tear it all down the following season. So I will go with that lol. I have 3 aging veterans who are still very good contributors but I had them as well last season and we didn't do shitttt....sooooo well see. Maybe adding some rookies can help this team have the right mix. Doubtful but a guy can dream!
hf - I’m rebuilding now, so get more picks and youths.
nybombers3 – Asset building mostly. Really want to reset but want to make sure I have a nice core going forward. That’s really all at this point.
Royal - Needed to make my own identity with this squad and I feel I did that. Time to have fun with it.
7. Spencer asked people to hit up the Sonics with advice. Let’s do it here instead. Aside from the usual “don’t trade Paul” stuff, what else should he do?
Galo - It’s a little tricky since he doesn’t have his pick and he’s relatively new to BBS. I would try to float Kuminga for his pick back so he can rebuild, offload that salary and get a feel for the league. He needs to resign Arizin after next season anyway. If not, try to move Augmon somewhere although that could be challenging as well. Might be better off signing Lewis to a 1 year deal and trying to compete/reset this season then tear down next year.
Orlando Magic Johnson - Since he doesn't have his first, he should definitely just compete for the playoffs again. Try to make the playoffs and/or get 42 and then maybe do a retool around Arizin. I'm not sure if he has his 36 but yeah I think that's a good route to go! Try to make the team your own. Sell off the contracts, see if you can get anything for Kuminga, and go from there. Kuminga's contract is so bad don't expect much for him. So definitely try to win this year. Also, Shot blocking in this league is valued very highly as well.
hf - Just take it slow and don’t rush into any trades. He doesn’t have his picks for 2 years so don’t trade any more of your futures
nybombers3 – Bring back the important players and go from there. With a free season, I would look to end up with max cap next season but not against them trying to win if possible next season.
Royal - Avoid all PMs from me for a season.
8. It seems like all these different AARP rookies are coming back for much cheaper. Does this make you potentially rethink the effect they had on the league and how they affected certain things like trades?
Galo - Kind of. It’s still getting adjusted with age. With that said, there’s a lot of old young players if that make sense making an impact.
Orlando Magic Johnson - YES, definitely. Depending on how you look at it, kinda sucks/kinda is awesome but guys are signing really cheaply. Joe Holland for instance! That fucker! They're not testing the market which is annoying and fucking over rebuilds in a way. FA is a hard thing to bank on in general but this makes things more difficult for those teams rebuilding trying to snag a good player from someone in FA. Expiring contract shouldn't be as feared as most people make it out to be.
hf - It’s gonna be rough when a lot of the top guys retire after only 7 seasons and there will be a drop off in talent with everyone from 5-10 drafts retiring at the same time.
nybombers3 – I think the AARP rookies were a bit to much early on but I do think Spencer found a solid balance between getting some rookies that are young and older type rookies. Them signing for cheap is pretty interesting. Helps balance all those really subpar/bad deals that are out there.
Royal - It brought a different dynamic and added more strategic dynamic, but I left for a period as they started to roll in.
9. Any surprises for you in the draft thus far?
Galo - Darling going #8 was shocking – didn’t have him that high. Miller dropping to #9 also a bit surprising. I kinda of like that Grisby pick by NY at #21 – seems like a perfect landing spot there.
Orlando Magic Johnson - Nothing much really. These drafts are actually very fun. My first time this go around participating in the retro drafts being in the top 10. It was fun! I couldn't go with Ken McBride. I am not sure about him. C- outside scoring and B- inside scoring scares me a bit. Also his handles seem like they will be pretty mediocre. Not ideal even if he has elite stocks/passing. The guy i drafted Bill Mlkvy is giving me good vibes. I like his ratings coming in and his notes are optimistic in my opinion. We shall see. Sounds like a pretty good offensive player, with stocks, boards and not many TO's.
hf - Svedda got a steal at pick 9 and the best PG falling to pick 10 was crazy
nybombers3 – I was thinking that Miller would go top 7. Same with Dick Throat the Goat. Miller is an interesting player that may not pan out but hard to knock the potential that is there if he works out.
Royal - Um, not really. Didn't pay attention to much draftees, had 5 on my radar.
10. Give you the entire pool of GM’s. Marry. Kill. Fuck. Go.
Galo - Marry steve. Kill Augustus. Fuck Marty. Easy.
Orlando Magic Johnson - OHHHH MYYYYYYY. Horned.
I would normally go with my pals but I will stay away from them because that's too easy.
Fuck: Steve - Steve has been a bit angry lately, and I like that about him, showing us he has a bit of a wild side. What else is this fella hiding from us? hmmmm Steven... I intend to find out.
Marry: Galo - Definitely gotta marry Galo. The guy seems like a great husband! Cooks, cleans. We can go play 18 holes. All the hits. All the favorites. He might be more shaft than ball but who isn't!
Kill: Augustus? mmmmmm I don't hate anyone here but I will go with an easy target in Svedda. I once called him Mr. Burns in an article and the truth is you can't kill Burnsy! He keeps on trucking!
hf - Marry Play, Fuck Ahsan, kill everyone else
nybombers3 – Marry Ahsan. He left us for marriage. That’s loyalty. Fuck Play. Kill jeb for not trading Chris Bosh.
Royal - This is how fights start, not partaking.
