AC Done - Most Efficient Scorers in BBS 02/03

PRELUDE
We are somehow already halfway into the THIRD regular season in the rebooted BBS. Insane! Spencer is doing a great job and quite frankly so have the GM's. We've had a crazy amount of activity in terms of trades, posts, and articles. 

Halfway through a season is a great time to take a look at players' performance so far as there is a fairly large sample size. I thought a fun and interesting way to rank players would be by points per shot. This is not a statistic that is easily found on FBB. You have to get the FGA and FTA from each player's individual page and do the calculation out for each player. In this article I will rank 99 players by PPS!


FINE PRINT
My points per shot calculation = points/(FGA + FTA/2.2). FTA are divided by 2.2 to account for and-ones and three point shot fouls. Note this does not consider turnovers at all!

Only players with 12+ ppg and 10+ games were considered. Note the format is 2P%/3P%/FT%. For three point % rankings only, I set a minimum of four three point attempts per game.

Kobe Bryant (SG) Magic - 1.23 PPS, 31.4 PPG, 53%/45%/89%
The Orlando wing's 1.23 points per shot ranks 1st in the league, which is good for 1st among shooting guards. His best ranking is inside the arc, where he is 5th in BBS.

Dimitris Diamantidis (SG) Rockets - 1.22 PPS, 32.6 PPG, 54%/41%/86%
The Houston wing's 1.22 points per shot ranks 2nd in the league, which is good for 2nd among shooting guards. His best ranking is inside the arc, where he is 1st in BBS.

Manu Ginobili (SG) Mavericks - 1.21 PPS, 21.8 PPG, 53%/47%/78%
The Dallas wing's 1.21 points per shot ranks 3rd in the league, which is good for 3rd among shooting guards. His best ranking is inside the arc, where he is 2nd in BBS.

Allan Houston (SG) Mavericks - 1.20 PPS, 29.6 PPG, 51%/46%/90%
The Dallas wing's 1.20 points per shot ranks 4th in the league, which is good for 4th among shooting guards. His best ranking is from long-range, where he is 10th in BBS.

Ray Allen (SG) Mavericks - 1.18 PPS, 28.4 PPG, 49%/46%/92%
The Dallas wing's 1.18 points per shot ranks 5th in the league, which is good for 5th among shooting guards. His best ranking is from long-range, where he is 12th in BBS.

Eddie House (PG) Suns - 1.18 PPS, 17.5 PPG, 50%/50%/80%
The Phoenix point guard's 1.18 points per shot ranks 6th in the league, which is good for 1st among point guards. His best ranking is from long-range, where he is 1st in BBS.

Allen Iverson (SG) Celtics - 1.17 PPS, 33.2 PPG, 53%/40%/85%
The Boston wing's 1.17 points per shot ranks 7th in the league, which is good for 6th among shooting guards. His best ranking is inside the arc, where he is 3rd in BBS.

Mike Miller (SF) Nets - 1.17 PPS, 13.9 PPG, 48%/47%/80%
The New Jersey wing's 1.17 points per shot ranks 8th in the league, which is good for 1st among small forwards. His best ranking is from long-range, where he is 3rd in BBS.

yeah points per shot tends to be better for guards and wings.

But if the bigs have low turnovers they can catch up in points per possession, maybe I’ll do that next!
