Knicks cut JR Reid before deal
Knicks Trade Dirk Nowitzki Jason Kidd Dejan Bodiroga
Lakers Trade Gilbert Arenas Jamal Mashburn Jerry Stackhouse Vin Baker Speedy Claxton
Agreed. I say this too much but I mean it this time: I hate this trade. But we weren't playing as well as I had anticipated, and Gilbert is too good to pass up. Given his rookie salary - and his #'s - I think there's a good case to be made he's the most valuable player in BBS after Duncan. We have the frontcourt strength and defense (I am hoping) to off-set our perimeter defensive concerns. Let's see what happens.

this feels like a massive win for nanz? arenas probably does have the most value in the deal, but i think dirk is still the best player. and to get him without having to give up JO or big dog? and to get kidd on top of it?
big deal for nanz

This one confuses me for both. Knicks - Clearly defense is the identity and they really commit to a defensive frontcourt. While Arenas brings the scoring in the backcourt. Business in the front, party in the back. Lakers - Gains a more balanced approach. Kidd/Big Dog/Dirk is as amazing a 1-2-3 punch as you'll ever see. Then you sprinkle in Dejan off the bench and you got an interesting team. They still could add a couple of bigs to join Jermaine.

nanz needs depth big time. he has none now. that's the one issue with these deals. the salary needed to balance is toughhhhhhh

Is it a fair deal? Nanz now has Kidd - Dejan - Big Dog - Dirk - JO. That's my favorite lineup in the league. Think he is the winner.
I hate my team now!!!! I just love Gil so much.
Went from having a team like this with Jamal to a team like this with Gil, but Gil is LOCKED IN! 31/7/5! Beautiful!

This literally gives the Lakers a 1 year window, and not a big window. Knicks getting Arenas speaks for itself, hes great, but he closed his window as well. Just feel Lakers pulled the trigger prematurely. And Knicks suckered him for a massive salary dump before prime FA.
