Just got a random call for someone looking for my Mom about water testing? My mom doesn't know anything about it. I am not on her cell phone plan, how would they have my number? A couple years back my grandparents got a call from someone who addressed them as grandma and grandpa and used my sisters name and who apparently sounded just like her too. Whoever it was claimed they were in a car crash with a friends car and needed money immediately. My grandpa said "call your parents" and hung up. Ever since then I am no longer surprised by the capabilities of spammers/scammers |

A bunch of click bait articles started to form with info from her Facebook posts and her dads post. Which then led to a bunch of other weird shit. Click bait scams jusr as bad |

That’s a common one. Works too the crazy part is sounding just like her. I guess it could've been some sort of cognitive bias or something combined with the fact that they were well into their 80s when this happened. Getting the names and numbers of relatives is practically publicly available info though, so that's not surprising. |
