2037 Lotto Draft Grades
1. Milwaukee Bucks – K.C. Jones PG 23 6'1'' 200 C+ C B+ B+ C+ A
Analysis – How lucky can one man be? Andy’s landed back to back #1 picks for the first time since the Nets landed the top spots in 2020 and 2021 drafts (Wiseman, Cunningham). KC Jones should be an electric young point guard from day 1 and one of the locks for ROY. Some wonder how good he’ll really be with no real 3PT shot but his high volume should override that attribute.
Grade: A
2. Seattle Sonics – Maurice Stokes - C 22 6'7'' 232 C C- C- B+ B+ A
Analysis – For the second year in a row, the Sonics dropped to the second slot in the draft despite them having the worst record in the league by far. Stokes looks like a bonafied stud big man for many years to come and has already drawn parallels to Worm Namdor. The Sonics are stacked with young talent (Walter Dukes, Stokes, Richie Guerin) and also flush with cap space so Matt should be in good shape going into this season.
Grade: A
3. New Orleans Hornets - Jack Twyman - SF 21 6'6'' 210 B B- C C+ C+ A
Analysis – Twyman looks like a nice building block for the Hornets at SF. I think that was the right choice for them at No. 3 just based on how tough it is to find an effective 3man in the league. Pig should be pleased even though he missed on Stokes and Jones.
Grade: A
4. Philadelphia 76ers - Tom Gola - SF 22 6'6'' 205 B- C C+ B- B- A
Analysis – Gola should be a good forward for many years in this league and like his high rebounding coming in. No 3 PT shot is a little concerning but he can do everything else. Hoping that Gola can be a starter right away for the Sixers.
Grade: A-
5. Houston Rockets – Buzz Wilkinson - SG 23 6'2'' 175 C+ B+ B+ C D+ A
Analysis – I know Broph wasn’t happy with this selection but believe it was the right one. Buzz joins a crowded backcourt of Bill Sharman and Gene Shue and looks to be plugged in as a super sub off the bench at least initially. His elite volume, jumpshot and quickness has to have some value at this point along with the steals.
Grade: A-
6. Boston Celtics - Guy Sparrow - PF 23 6'6'' 218 C D+ D+ B B A
Analysis – Solid choice. Sparrow looks good and should be a playable big and at the very least a 3rd big in the league. Kind of reminds me of Raven Anders a bit who was taken in the lotto at No. 13 in 2026. Given his ratings and notes, I think this is a tad high for him but this is a role player draft mostly so it’s fine.
Grade: B+
7. Toronto Raptors (from Nets)- Dick Ricketts - C 6'7'' 215 22 C+ C C- B C+ B
Analysis – Not a big fan of this pick for Braz. I think he went with Dick who was selected No. 1 in real life. Maybe he turns out okay but would have gone Babetch, Horan or Reiter here but it was a tough spot.
Grade: B-
8. Golden State Warriors – Harvey Babetch - SG 6'2'' 187 22 C+ B+ B C+ C- B
Analysis – I believe Babetech could have gone a little higher so nice get here for the Dubs. His mediocre volume, strength and low rebounds are a concern but his elite jumpshot should be nice next to Hudson. Joe was autoed here so can’t give a great grade but it was probably BPA.
Grade: B
9. Orlando Magic – Bob Reiter - C 6'8'' 193 21 B+ D+ C- C+ C+ C
Analysis – Maybe he was a reach and maybe he wasn’t but Reiter was who I was targeting here. We’ll see if he turns out to be better than a rotational big or some version of Sean Ellison? Idk but worth a shot.
Grade: C+
10. LA Clippers – Johnny Horan - PF 6'8'' 190 23 C D D+ C+ C+ A
Analysis – Sweep the Leg, Johnny! For all you young thundercats in here, this is a Karate Kid reference and if you haven’t watch the original, go watch it now on Prime! Anyway, I like Horan – probably a Kai Jones type player at his peak. Greeme likes his defensive guys so it’s a good pick.
Grade: B
11. Houston Rockets (from Spurs) – Burdette Haldorson - C 6'9'' 225 21 C D+ C- C+ B+ B
Analysis – Best rebounder in the class and good ball handler. Pretty decent starting ratings aside from offense. I like the pick for Broph who was probably looking at bigs with this pick anyway and this was one of the best available.
Grade: B+
12. LA Clippers (from Pistons) – Jim Loscutoff - SF 6'5'' 200 25 C+ C+ D+ A- C B
Analysis – One of the oldest wings in the file with the best defensive rating as well. Spencer indicated only some stocks which is a little disappointing but also put solid player so maybe he turns into a starter? As said before, Greeme loves his defenders.
Grade: B
13. LA Clippers (from Blazers) – Ed Fleming - SF 6'3'' 189 22 C+ B- C- B C+ B
Analysis – Like Ed. I was even looking at him at higher than this. He has the 2nd highest C+ rebounding rating the in file so that’s promising. Lack of 3ball, inside and handles dropped him out of the top 10 but you could much worse here at the tail end of lotto.
Grade: B+
14. LA Clippers (from Pacers) – John Miller - PG 6'4'' 190 20 C C C+ B+ C B
Analysis – Wasn’t in huge favor of this pick for the Clips. He’s got low volume and no 3PT shot so he probably projects as a backup PG at best unless he has a ungodly PG TC which isn’t out of the question but I had a late 1st round grade on Miller.
Grade: C
1. Milwaukee Bucks – K.C. Jones PG 23 6'1'' 200 C+ C B+ B+ C+ A
